First of all I'll just say that I really like how this book has managed to keep the same artist for each of the 2 stories in this book. The biweekly schedule has made some stories in the DC universe very jarring with the differences between artists' styles on some of their titles.

Fracture - I was sad to see this happen so quickly. I felt Venditti left a lot of interesting stories on the table by breaking up the two corps so soon. I really liked the relationship between Guy Gardner and Arkillo. That being said, it was very well done. Venditti came up with some legitimate reasons to break up the band. Ethan Van Sciver's art is so detailed, even is the characters are a little skinny at times.

Then the New Gods return and they actually need the Lanterns help. The New Gods aren't nearly as big of of pricks this time. Kyle gets a real chance to shine. Rafa Sandoval knocks it out of the park with his art. It's stupendous. I haven't read Metal yet, but I read this is some kind of tie in to it.

This was freaking epic.

Someone has murdered a yellow lantern from the GLC and well Soranik finds the truth about the threat from previous volume, her son and well that might result in a fracture between the two but not before drama and the fall of long standing friendships and the embracing of legacy with Hal stuck in the middle and not gonna lie, this is one of my favorite GL stories with so much discord and drama and that makes for great character beats though I wish they had more fighting but regardless.

The next story where GOLEMS of Yuga Khan come in and target Orion and Highfather, its upto Hal and GLC to save them and its so well done, some will fall and some won't and can he save them and whats the secret of these Golems? Plus the ride of Hal's life and there are some beautiful pages where he remembers his father and he gives him motivation or the one about John being a military person and its so well done and I love it like some of the best looking panels for sure! The art here is freaking wonderful and compliment the already beautiful story so well ahh and I love it! Its a must recommend from me for sure like some of the best GL stories for sure!

That was sooooo good!

World: The art is great, it's full of emotion and the power of the rings is spectacular. Especially when Rafa is drawing, his New Gods arc is so gorgeous to look at. I would have wanted him to draw the Fracture storyline but it was Van Sciver so yeah he's pretty awesome also, his arc has a certain edge to it making those confrontational scenes spark with energy. The world building here is fantastic, readers knew that this would not last and that this alliance would crumble but the pieces put together for the end was great. Then there's the New Gods!! DC has been struggling to do with these Kirby creations for a while, they know how to use Darkseid as simply a big bad, but the High Father and the entire Fourth World has been out of publication for a while and it's a shame. Well since Godhead Vindetti seems to be the only one who knows and is willing to use this piece of the DC universe and post Rebirth using them here is also great. The pieces that we see (very small) is fantastic and gives me a warm tingling feeling inside. Awesome.

Story: Fracture is done so very well, with it's melodrama and high stakes making it a very fast and fun read. The emotions are raw, on the surface and heartbreaking, it's the best kind of Green Lantern story. It's a shame it needed to end but while it lasted it was quite fun with the Greens and the Yellows together. I love how impactful the end issue was with Soranik she's gone so far from GL Corps. Then there's the New Gods story with amazing art by Rafa Sandoval, wow he draws amazing constructs and battle scenes it's simply gorgeous, and the softer colors compared to Van Sciver is really nice. The New Gods as I've said above have been missued and simply not used but Vindetti is great with them, when are we getting a New Gods series??? The stakes are also high, the action amazing and pacing is just simply breakneck. The story is fairly basic and standard but everyone has a role to play and it's fun. That single Hal issue with him chasing the Omega Beams is a perfect issue, just perfect.

Characters: I love what Vindetti has done with the entire team, everyone has a role and everyone has a reason to be on the team. There have been too many Earth Lanterns and Vindetti, just like Johns has been able to set them each apart to give them a reason to exist. I love this group, oh and then there's the rest of the Corps which is also great. I loved seeing Saalak's world, so cool! I won't say anything else here cause this is the heart of this arc and I don't want to ruin the character moments.

Amazing!

Onward to the next book!

Given the current bad situation in Hong Kong (honestly, said bad situation here has gone on for years, the recent protest is only the tension boiling over. HongKongers have been gone through too many craps already) and the constant police brutality crisis we have to face on a daily basis, I feel very conflicted reading a comic series focusing on a bunch of galactic polices. However, my spirit lightened up a bit when John Stewart announced no police is above the laws in the story. If only the cops in real life can hold themselves to the same principle, our society will be a far better place.

I just have to stress it again! The artwork and the character design is lovely! And the romance between Kyle and Sora really does keep me guessing (they are just so cute)....hope everything will be alright for them in the end.

Oh, well. I do like the first half of the story a lot, but the second half about the New Gods, not so much; but I'm still looking forward to see what's next.

PS: However, I don't really like how the two major groups broke up in the story.

[Read as single issues]
The Sinestro Corps have always been the Green Lanterns greatest enemies since their inception; so when events conspire to break their uneasy alliance apart, it's not going to take much to set them against each other once again. Then, the New Gods return, and they need the help of the greatest Green Lantern that ever lived; Hal Jordan, only you can save New Genesis!

I did really enjoy both stories in this volume. Fracture is quick and dirty, and when you see how fragile the relationship between the two Corps is, it makes sense for it to fall apart so quickly. It's a shame that they throw a certain character under the bus in order to do it, but I trust Venditti at this point; he knows what he's doing. It's also a shame that this joint status quo didn't get explored more before it fell apart, since I feel like there was a lot more to be done with it. Ah well.

The New Gods story is actually a stealth Dark Nights: Metal tie-in, and a follow-up on the Godhead story from the New 52. These two groups of characters get along oddly well, and I really enjoyed the innovative use of the Green Lantern rings in resolving the story. Every character gets a chance to shine in this one, and it's good fun too.

Ethan Van Sciver and Rafa Sandoval take these two stories, and they continue their winning streak from the beginning of Rebirth to now. You know Van Sciver is a powerhouse artist, and Sandoval is making his way up the rankings as well. I find that Sandoval gets a lot more splash pages, but I feel like this is more to keep the book on schedule than because he's not as good at sequential art.

Sinestro Corps War Mark II and Godhead Mark II make for another solid volume of this series.

The story arc that takes up the first half of this volume, “Fracture,” is hands down the best story arc in the series so far. The pressure cooker that’s been building with the shaky alliance between the Green Lanterns and the Sinestro Corps finally comes to a boil and spills over after it’s discovered that a Geeen Lantern has murdered a Yellow Lantern in cold blood. The story is riveting and filled with great twists, emotion, and moral drama. This shit is great and I can’t wait to see how this affects things in the long run.

The last arc is not as great but still engaging, seeing the Corps once again encounter the New Gods, but this time, instead of war, they’re racing against time to save Highfather from a group of gigantic robots and a pair of Omega Beams. It’s action packed and has some great moments for Hal and Kyle.

Hope this series keeps it up.

The Green and Yellow Lanterns have been holding a somewhat stable alliance - with positive results. But how long can they last until something breaks them apart? Also, beings hunting the New Gods have reawakened, but can the GLC stop them before they succeed?

You know for all intents and purposes, John Stewart pulled it off. He merged these two warring corps and made them into one cohesive unit. And it was working well. Of course, we all expected it to blow up, and blow up it did. However, I really appreciated how Venditti used the history of Kyle and Soranik, and the past plots to drive the permanent wedge once again. I don't want to spoil it, but it seems they will not be getting back together anytime soon. Couple that with an incident with one member of the GL's killing a member of the YL's, and you have yourself the disintegration of unity.

The second story has to do with the New Gods being chased by these giant... robot's? made of Nth Metal. I think this story turned out really good and highly entertaining, even if it was just a way to get in on the "Metal" event going on in the rest of the DCU. What could have been a story that was frivolous and unneeded, turned out to be a great chapter of intergalactic adventure for the GLC.

This series covers all of the universal adventures of the GLC. Where Simon and Jessica oversee just Earth with the JLA, this has to do with everything, and I mean everything else. And its a blast to read. Highly recommended for fans of the Green Lantern Corps.

Fracture (#22-25). This story is another color-war, but it's a lot more nuanced than most of the ones to date, because it's about the inevitable fracture between green and yellow when they try to work together ... but it's a fracture built on events from the past, not just fighting due to having differently colored rings. There's some good characterization of all of the lanterns ... though I feel like Soranik sees some character assassination [4/5].

Fall of the Gods (#26-29). The Return of the New Gods in the Nu52 is soooo much better than their original appearance, where they were villainous pricks. Still, this story is more mixed than the original. There's nice focus on Orion and good metaphysics, but it's weird that the "golems" look so much like the Celestial like beings from Justice League: No Justice and it's weird that there's so much talk of "Metal". I have no idea what DC is trying to do with their mythology. And there's a boring second issue of fighting, and then a deus ex mechanica ending where the Lanterns just have to stay on target to shoot the exhaust port or something. [3/5]

That's an even 3.5 for this fourth volume. I've rounded down because that's been the general direction of Venditti's run.

With how things were looking somewhat bright from the previous volume, tensions underneath the alliance between the Green and Yellow Lanterns are still present. After the battle with the terrorist from the future, Soranik learns the truth about the attacker when Kyle wouldn't relent. Even more, there is a Green Lantern that also killed a Yellow previously without warrant, that ultimately the breaks the ice of an uneasy alliance. Now the Green Lantern Corps face off with their former allies and a new battle erupts on Mogo, and the outcome is one where one team becomes a lost cause. But there's another story arc to this volume. New Gods have asked the Green Lantern Corps for help, something from the other universe is out to kill them all. The beings pose a threat to all sectors as they won't stop until their targets are killed, even if other worlds are in the way. The entire corps is now all preparing for a battle that will prove their worth to the New Gods or permanently end their existence.

When comic volumes usually have two or more story arcs in place, it can cause a quality drop as one or more arc can be see as weaker or unnecessary. Luckily, there is continuation that prevents that and also both arcs are equally intriguing to read about. What I liked was that while the Corps have been fully revitalized its foundation, they are still not fully trusted by other worlds, which shows it both that many, including enemy Lanterns don't see them eye to eye. Also the characterization of our human protagonists continues to develop, specifically in Kyle and Hal here where it shows their better qualities without sacrificing plot action in the process. The flow between each is smooth and the stories are well balanced that I don't see any weak points in this series at all.

How did I not read Green Lantern stories sooner? So many wasted years... but also an excuse to play catch-up and read nothing but GL in the future! Woohoo! Seriously, I can't get enough of this series... which means I'm reading these so quickly that I'm almost caught up with publication.... so, GAH!
But I suppose I should actually talk about this particular volume, in which the strangely-working (and oddly perfect) partnership between the Green Lantern and Sinestro Corps is shattered by two key factors: (1) It comes to light that a GL killed a Sinestro Lantern, and (2) Kyle Rayner lied to his ex-girlfriend, leader of the Sinestro Corps, who then went kind of crazy and declared that ALL GREEN LANTERNS WERE NOT TO BE TRUSTED. Kind of a leap in logic there, Soranik, but considering that you did an autopsy on your own son from the future (without realizing it), I can grant you a little bit of craziness. I feel like there's more coming with her character's evolution, and that this was just a... breakdown kind of moment. Unfortunately it was a breakdown that didn't just shatter her relationship with Kyle, it also shattered the alliance between green and yellow light, so... good job, Kyle. Basically the "political" side of this graphic novel and the emotional, interpersonal sides were incredibly well-developed, interwoven, and layered, making it a read that you just couldn't put down.
The second arc (with the New Gods) was also an interesting one, giving us some nice insight into Hal Jordan, specifically with his father and with what motivates Hal to be who he is. Those were nice moments. There was quite a bit I didn't completely understand--namely about the Source Wall--but that's just because I've been jumping around with comics, because... I'm a glutton for punishment apparently and refuse to make life easy by reading in-continuity. (But is it MY fault the stories are so good that I just want to read what's happening right now with these awesome characters?)
Anyway, the biggest thing I got out of this graphic novel was a bit of a nerd-piphany. I always used to think my favorite Green Lantern was Kyle Rayner. And I do still really like him. I like how creative his constructs are, his sense of humor, and the "kid brother" vibe that comes with his character. But, I swear, if he brings up that "he's an artist" one more time... I'm gonna strangle him. I get it, you're an artist: You wear your heart on your sleeve; you look at the world differently; blah, blah, blah.... It would be like Hal Jordan always following what he says with, "Because I'm a pilot," or John Stewart with, "Because I'm an architect." That's a PART of their character, but it's not their entire character. I know there are people out there who do kind of define themselves by what they are rather than who they are, but... I always kind of thought Kyle was a little better than that. So maybe it's just how he's being written in this particular series, but I've actually found a new favorite Green Lantern... and it's now how I expected.
It's.... Guy Gardner.
Now, before you start getting your pitchforks ready ('cuz, I know, he's supposed to the GL that we love to hate, and that's it, right?), let me explain WHY I find him so... bizarrely likable.
(1) Partly, because he is A LOT of fun to love to hate. I've read earlier takes on him (namely in "Justice League International"), where he was so cocky, so eager for a fight, so... annoying... that every time there was a panel with him, I couldn't help but laugh. And other characters' reactions to him--how they're just supposed to hate him--is equally humorous. It's hard not to root for a guy (at least a little bit) who everyone else can't stand.
(2) It's especially easy to root for him when you know that, regardless of how much "tough guy bravado" he may have, Guy Gardner is always going to fight for the good guys. He believes in the Green Lantern Corps and what they stand for. He's willing to always throw the first punch, even if he knows it might very well be his last. That's... pretty much what every superhero is. He just does it without a lot of "tough guy" talk. Which, for me... just makes his character all the more interesting. It means that he's not a "pretty" hero, but a hero nonetheless.
(3) He's willing to put his fist where his mouth is. Yeah, like I said, he's going to talk a big game, but then he's going to deliver. In the last volume, when GLs started looking for rogue Sinestro Lanterns, he found out where Arkillo--ARKILLO!--was and then challenged him to a no-rings fight as a way to earn Arkillo's respect. (And to also prove that there was only room for one Guy Gardner... aka, one fiercely loyal brute.) The end result: HE BEATS ARKILLO. (He also nearly dies, too... but then the two of them have established respect for one another, become friends and partners, and actually are the shining beacon for what the GL/Sinestro Corps partnership should be.) I mean... of all the characters, he was the one most willing to work with previous enemies in the name of doing what was best for the universe. And he was willing to risk everything to make sure that happened. To paraphrase what he told all of the Lanterns when a fight began brewing, he and "the Ark" (as he started calling him) took all the punches so that nobody else had to.
(4) He's willing to be the guy who takes the punches. He'll give them back tenfold, but if you need someone to take a risk, he's going to be the one willing to do it. (And the most likely to still survive.) As John Stewart said in volume 1 of this series, "Guy Gardner is the one Lantern too hardheaded to die."
(5) He's fiercely loyal: it takes a lot to gain his respect, but once you have it, it takes even more to lose it. That's a pretty admirable character trait. In this volume, when the Green/Yellow partnership fractures, Guy and Arkillo are facing off with each other. Guy tells him to throw the first punch, because, "for once," he doesn't want to be the one to destroy a friendship. Arkillo basically says the same thing, and neither one ends up fighting the other. That... speaks a lot. He's loyal to the GLs, but he also won't shatter respect that's been garnered. That's a bit more depth than I think most people give his character credit for.
(6) He's funny. I'm sorry, but every time he talks about Hal Jordan getting all the credit (which is true, by the way), I can't help but laugh. And also... in this volume, when Kyle Rayner made an artificial heart construct to keep one of the New Gods alive, and Guy told him to not think about having to go to the bathroom... I laughed way harder at that than I should have.
(7) He's John Stewart's best friend. Seriously, John says that in this volume. If you're the best friend of the most "together" Green Lantern and the leader of the entire Corps... well, that means something.
(8) I just think his Green Lantern uniform is cool. It's a weak reason, hence why it's the last one, but... it's cool.
So, yeah... that was my nerd-piphany during this volume. While reading, I suddenly realized that I was excited every time I saw Guy Gardner getting the focus, so... yeah. Guy Gardner is my favorite Green Lantern.
Huh.
Well... I guess that means I hope to see more of him in the next volume--which I'm also hoping isn't the last before I'm caught up. (*crosses fingers*)

The highlight of this volume is undoubtedly the art, in the first part made by Ethan Van Sciver and in the second part by Rafa Sandoval, without a doubt a delight for the eyes.

RCO008

on the other hand in the first arc happens something that I never thought would happen so fast and that it is extremely unfortunate, although it was something strange to see the Green Lanterns working together with the Yellow Lanterns, it was also something extremely entertaining and enjoyable, I was getting used to the idea, the friendship between Arkillo and Guy Gardner was possibly one of my favorites in the comics, and visualizing Kyle returning with Soranik was also something that made me very happy, it was like that stage in which Spider-Man was rich applied to the Green Lantern Coorps, but as the song says "nothing lasts forever".

RCO021 (1)

is very interesting to watch John Stewart as leader of the corporation, sounds like a crazy idea but the role is made for him, in this volume we will watch a couple of challenges that will prove his temper as first in command.

RCO011

The second arc was just saved by Rafa Sandoval's magnificent art, without it I would never finished reading it. It seems to me that this little part is a tie-in of the "metal" series maybe that's why it's so boring ...

RCO013

Anyway ... I don't know where all this is going, but I have a feeling that nothing cool is coming for future issues.

This Volume is divided into two great stories.

1) Fracture
The peace between Green and Yellow seems better than ever. But when a routine take down of a space ruffian turns sour, the pirate revealing he has evidence that a Green killed a Yellow in cold blood, Hal fears that the truce will end. Throwing the villain in the Sciencells, Hal goes off to find the traitor.
Meanwhile, Soranik Natu, leader of the Sinestro Corps, is still curious about the interaction with Kyle and the battle against Sarko (the villain from the future fought in the last Volume), so she goes to have Sarko's body scanned. Sarko's parents are, in fact, Kyle and Soranik. She knows that Kyle knew, and so they get into an argument, resulting in Kyle's chest being branded by the Yellow Lantern symbol when she releases her anger on him.
Hal finds the evidence the pirate spoke of, and we see the scene when Tomar-Tu killed Romat-Ru fully and completely accurate. John Stewart, leader of the GLC, decides to announce Tomar-Tu's trial to both Corps, hoping doing things in a just way will keep the Corps allied, but it backfires HUGE. Yellows demand their form of justice, Soranik (still angry from the confrontation with Kyle) declares herself now Soranik Sinestro, true leader of the Corps, and she breaks the peace formally.
John had a trick up his sleeve, and through a flaw built into the Yellow Power Battery, makes Yellow Rings unable to attack Green. Yellows leave Mogo, and as both Corps rebuild, we find out that Sinestro is somehow back from the dead again.

2) Fall of the Gods
A golem capable of shooting Omega Beams is causing havoc and Hal and Kyle go to investigate. Turns out that the Golem has been sent out from Old Genesis to stop the heart and lifeforce of Orion, one of the New Gods. When Orion "dies", the Golem then sets his sights on Highfather, leader of the New Gods. Salaak is able to set Orion up with a temporary heart construct that is held in place by Kyle so that Highfather can be found to heal his son.
We have almost an entire issue here about Hal talking with the spirit of his father, who reminds him to not only be GL, but also Hal Jordan. Very touching and heartfelt, and needed to give Hal the drive to do the next part.
Hal reaches Highfather, the New Gods join forces with the GLC to combat the golems, and Orion is healed after the victory. Kyle, passing out after holding the construct for so long, receives an "I owe you one..." from Orion. (Curious to see how that turns out...)

HJ&tGLC is a wonderful companion book to Green Lanterns, both of which are some of my favorites in DC's Rebirth. Can't wait to see what is next. High recommend!

3.5 almost barely not a 4 because while Fracture was great and Fall of the Gods was cool enough to read but the payoff was weak with iffy pacing and not much happening of note I still was super invested throughout and looked forward to every next issue and wanted to read what’s next. I also think it’s going in a neat direction and that Venditti’s getting into a groove.
The Fracture storyline was nice and show Venditti bringing up previous plot points like Tomar-Tu's killing of a YLC and Sarko being Rayner and Natu's child. At times though it is a bit too cop procuedural-y and Blue Wall of Silence-y. The police-like GL writing here really hurt my enjoyment of this early on with some of the dialogue choices for Jordan and made the sorta moral grey-ish element of it all less morally grey. It's a bit soap opera-y espeically with Sora Nik and Kyle Rayner but the explosive ending of the GLC and YLC's cooperation is what the storyline builds up to and it is amazing.
The Fall of the Gods storyline I'm a bit more eh on. It’s about the New Gods which I’m eh on in general. It’s weirdly paced with not much happening until the final issue where the showdown finally happens and immediately ends (with an Omega beam not working canonly correctly but idc). The highlight is Rayner’s cool trick to keep Orion alive as well as Hal getting to have a cool one-on-one with his father. Everything else is eh.
Artwise Scriver does the Fracture storyline and Sandoval does the Fall of the Gods storyline. I still prefer Sandoval but Scriver does deserve a shout-out for his efforts as I enjoy some of his stuff here more than usual. He gave some nice bombastic set pieces and visuals like when Soranik became a YLC Angel of Fury. I think its nice he also plays with paneling even if it can come off blank and awkward (especially his love for skewed panels that skew so hard chunks of the panels are just gone off the page giving less space though Sandoval does it too but it works a bit more with him tbh this whole run seems obsessed with skewed panels idk if that was a decision from the Venditti as a writer since writers sometimes can give paneling and layout input or what).

Super minor spoilers. Bummed. Was really enjoying this series, then we have this volume. In the space of an issue (7 pages maybe?) we get Sora acting insanely irrational and out of character just to move the plot forward. Don't get me wrong, I like where Sora went plot-wise, but getting there was awful. It just was rushed and didn't really fit at all motivationally, like seeing a rat in the kitchen and deciding to burn the house down with your family still in it. She has an emotional reason for her decisions, but the resulting behavior is laughable.

And then, prepare for the non-stop excitement of the New God's (who I never find interesting) fighting a giant, stupid metal space robot. Of course, one of the lanterns had a "giant metal robot prophesy" but told the other GLs too late, complete with the whole, "the dreams have gone on too long, I must tell them!" Why wait, people? Especially a GL, who should know that they can't even make a piece of goddamn space-toast without the "prophesy of the sourdough" coming to pass. So, yeah, he's too late, and now the prophesy of laser head metal man is coming to pass, which is a shorter than usual prophesy, about two issues worth until they find a way to kill it.

The art is spectacular as usual for the most part, but some pages look mediocre to the point where I double checked if it was the same artist throughout, and found out that yeah, there are more than one. Some pages are stellar and I love the style, others looks sharp and blah at the same time.

If you like giant robots that are indestructible who also fly and shoot lasers, and prophesy that comes out of nowhere and disappears just as fast, you might like this book more than me. Personally, I'm really glad this was a library book rental.

Venditti continues to do good stuff with the Corps, although I have to wonder at the title of the book as Hal is not the preeminent protagonist here. I suppose, given that--when Hal's been Green Lantern--the Green Lantern book has always been his and any iteration that focused on the other lanterns (even those from Earth) was either Green Lantern Corps or non-existent, it makes sense to let readers know that Hal's in this book rather than the Earth-bound Green Lanterns Rebirth book. Still, Hal is no more a lead than most of the other corps members and less so in the previous three volumes and in this volume in particular than Kyle Rayner, Guy Gardner, or John Stewart.

That said, if you're not expecting a primary focus on Hal Jordan, than this is the Green Lantern book of the moment that I vastly prefer. Nice story here that presents the inevitable split between the Sinestro and Green Lantern corps, I would've liked to see such a massive change hang around longer and impact things more, but at least the break-up was handled believably and in ways that preserved the characters involved. The New Gods story was the weaker half--probably a 3 where the Fracture storyline was a 4.5 if we had half-star ratings--but I've never felt that the New Gods have managed to be anything more than embodiments of natural forces ala Greek or Norse mythology. They don't get any more complicated or interesting here, and so the threat--directed primarily at them, although it would proceed to the entirety of the DCU were it to have succeeded in finishing off the New Gods--just didn't impact me.

I was seriously considering lowering my rating on this one to 2/5 due to Venditti's stupid, yet predictable, decision to split the two Corps apart in the dumbest possible way. However, the second story in this volume, the one involving the New Gods, saved it from demotion, if barely. The cover is extremely deceptive, not only because Soranik goes full Sinestro on Stewart and the Corps, but because Hal has no interaction with Soranik at all in this volume. One would think he could talk some sense into her after what they went through in Sinestro's Law, but it seems Venditti forgot all about that and chose to turn her into an evil villain instead. The only good thing about this whole storyline was the twist with John at the end, proving he was probably the better choice of leader over Hal Jordan.

The second story could serve as a prelude of things to come or maybe it's just an interlude. Hal and Kyle stumble upon Orion while on patrol and soon find out he's being chased my metal golems intent on killing him and the Highfather. It's up to the Green Lantern Corps to save the day. It's a fun little story, with each of Earth's GLs playing their part in the affair.

The only downside is that we seem to have entirely forgotten about Hal's metamorphosis and his experience in the Emerald Space. That and Soranik's stupid turn to the dark side. Of all the dumb things...

This volume has two arcs, both wonderfully drawn. Each arc is very fun to read but has one piece which I very much disliked. SPOILERS ahead, obvs.

Fracture: It is slowly revealed that a Green Lantern has killed a Sinestro Corp, and I really loved when Stewart said, "No one is above the law." But I hated the Kyle/Sora line where he won't say that the big bad last time was their future son. Just say it! Not your fault that he wanted to kill everyone, bud! So Sora finds out and then breaks the GL/SC treaty. Drams for drams sake. Kyle sucks.

Gods and More Gods (or whatever this arc is called): Big robots come to kill Orion and the Allfather. Ok. To save Orion, we gotta take out his heart and make him look dead to big robot. Ok. To save the Allfather, we have to catch the New Gods' speedster, Lightray. Hal flys a jet construct through space and when he's not even close the first time pushing himself, he sees his dad (actually a nice scene) and then decides to go fast enough to catch up without even trying. Not ok. Then near the end, the omega beams are chasing Hal and the Allfather and they swerve at the last second so the omega beams kill big robot. No. They don't keep going, they are omega beams that literally track you anywhere and can turn on a dime. They cannot keep going if the target they are after moves directions. This is a dealbreaker.

This volume focuses on the underlying tensions that resurface when there is a breach of the law among the ranks of the Green Lantern Corps. I think the events further reflect what an excellent leader John Stewart continues to be. He made sure to investigate all of the evidence of the events thoroughly to appropriately determine the culprit. He also didn't announce anything to both Corps. until he knew all of the facts. He continues to be one of my favorite human lanterns and his integrity and intelligence for leadership are largely why.

Kyle and Soranik's relationship is further explored as well and it is clear that they still have a lot of baggage and trust that needs to be reforged. I thought their character arcs gave more insight into that baggage and gave them a lot of dimension as characters. I'm looking forward to seeing more of both of them and how Kyle deals with the aftermath of everything that happened this volume. Based on the ending of this volume, we're possibly going to see Apokolips and maybe even Darkseid. He's one of my favorite DC villains so I'm looking forward to it.

Lot of very uncharacteristic decisions in this, from Kyle trying to bend people to Soranik going full supervillain.

I quite enjoyed the union between Yellow and Green, I would have loved to have more of it. it's a shame it had to end so quickly given that it only started the volume prior. The rest of this is about robots hunting the new gods, it just felt a bit weird. You had Hal seeing ghosts, to being able to travel at lightspeed with his ring being able to keep up with the gods. It had a decent set up with Orion but it was downhill from there.

Saying all that I liked reading this but just not as good as this series has been, the best bits where definitely Guy and Arkillo.

Well, that didn't last long.

Of course something manages to bring animosity between the Green and Yellow Lanterns to a boil, and after some perfunctory attempts at staunching the wound, the Yellow Lanterns stalk off to sulk and go back to their old ways. On one hand, it's disappointing because there was definitely potential in the teammates storylines (Guy and Arkillo being a highlight), but on the other hand, I kind of get why Soranik gets as ticked off as she does - Kyle really did a number on things here, and that's not even the prime catalyst. And of course John has kept a trick in his back pocket that does feel like it undercuts the whole alliance.
So things fall apart, although with less collateral damage than I was expecting, at least in this volume. I do wonder how this compares in time with the Jessica Cruz/Simon Baz Green Lanterns series, because the two seem to have some contradictory storylines going on. But that's a minor niggle. Overall, this was a disappointing turn of events, but one that felt justified by the storylines.

Venditti to zbawiciel Zielonych Latarni?

Arkillo i Guy. Moje serce zostało złamane. Chlip. Czemu?

To pierwsza część, bo w drugiej pojawią się istoty łudząco podobne do Celestiali z Marvela. I choć golemy nie posiadają aż takiej mocy, to mogą nieźle nabroić. Co z tym wspólnego mają Nowi Bogowie? To już trzeba samemu sprawdzić. Doskonałe tempo, ciągłe zwroty akcji. Zieloni w DC Rebirth mają istne niebo. Przynajmniej jak dotąd.

80/100.

Read this as individual issues .

The plot is simple , the two corpses have done exceptionally well , but there have been past events in this partnerships that now resurface to strain the alliance . Would the alliance survive for the greater good ? or will it fall back to return to the status quo of the good ol' days ?

What I liked :
➕ Venditti gets GL well , his story telling feels like the old GL comics
➕ There was involvement and distribution of roles equally amongst all characters
➕ The motivations of characters was understandable

What I didn't like :
➖ The art style was passable for most part , but sometimes the faces really felt weird and bugged the hell out of me
➖ The finale felt a bit abrupt and awkward
➖ There was a distinct lack of action scenes , while there was a lot of possibility for it .

This was an overall good volume, I liked how certain characters were handled, i.e. but others were... not so good. Given that the majority of the plot hindered on one of the characters that was well written, it was a good plot and the rest was just set up for something else that I'm looking forward to.

an alien with a close heritage comes from the future to destroy the alliance or maybe just the GL corps. it's a hard fought battle with major ramifications for Kyle, Hal and Soranik.

then Tomar revealed what he had done and the two corps' indeed fracture.

van sciver is a good artist but terrible bloke.

the second half, Sandoval drawn, was a big disappointment. nth metal celestial are chasing the new gods. literally. this could have been a big epic arc but was crammed into three issues. the initial issue with Orion was exciting and the way vendetti thought out the heart problem was clever.

Wow, this is going downhill fast. The incorporation of the Sinsetro Corps offered a lot of diverse stories, but that changes now. Seems the shift has gone over to the four Earth Lanterns- Hal, Jon, Guy, and Kyle. And it is not going well. The stories are too short and there does not seem to be the arcs that the first two books possessed.

I am a little disappointed that the alliance between the Green and Yellow Lanterns ended so soon as I did like the chemistry between the various partners. Also the reasons did not feel big enough to warrant an end to the alliance. But still the fight was epic and we also get another adventure with the New Gods as Yuga Khan tries to return.

3.5, not terrible but not great. Getting rid of their one main lady character in a fit of historonics didn't sit well with me, nor did Hal trying to pull some thin green line crap for a second there. I do love that as underused as he was in this one, Kyle got to save the day with ~art and got some well-deserved respect from Hal.
