Burt is a sharpshooter/scout for the confederate army. For several months a Union force has been harassing the confederate lines. General Hood orders Burt and a battalion of cavalry to stop the Union raiders. Burt has to match wits with the opposing scouts and get his forces in position to take out the raiders before its too late.
This is a very good short story, but there was a little bit too much strong vulgarity in it for me. Otherwise, the storylines were acceptable and the characters were pretty well placed.
The four stars awarded this short story could have been five had the author been a little more informative. I thought the story ended before the entire sequences of events were fully described.
I do recommend this story, but be prepared for some aggressive language, which probably befitted parts of the descriptive episode. I, in all probability, will try another book by this author, as his material was well planned.
