A fascinating insight into the problems of desert warfare

I found this to be an excellent book detailing logistic and other problems to be dealt with in wartime.
The book is full of very relevant detail of which the public are not aware. It is also written in a flowing way, thereby keeping the attention of the reader.
An excellent book which I would recommend to others.

A very interesting and well written book covering some of the less well known, but vitally important, aspects of the WW2 campaign in North Africa. It would be of great value to anyone who has interest in this aspect of WW2.

Informative dialogue

Being a Royal Engineer Commando, I have found this a very excellent book, it gives a good outline of the Africa War, plus an insight of the Royal Engineers. Very much worth a read.

Simply the best account of the North African campaign.

Only an Engineer could write such a detailed account of what actually happened in the whole North African battle.
The essential supply of water at the right time and place won the battle.

Water in the desert

The best narrative I have read of the Desert War, and the role of a distinguished Royal Engineer, with detailed description of actions, and strategic insight.

Resilience and heroics, brave men and women of the desert war

As an ex RE myself, I found this to be a moving account of a conflict out of our modern comprehension. A fascinating memory of an exhilarating time in our history. well written
And detailed .

I have enjoyed all the books that I have read so far but the opportunity to review them occurs too long after, I have read other books since then and cannot recall all my opinions by the time I am asked for such. Pipeline was particularly interesting because my father served with the 8th army but seldom talked of it. I learned much from this book. You now ask for dates begun and ended reading it! You have to be joking, TIMING, as a pensioner I have a failing memory.
Now how do I send this? No send option obvious.
