This is book 2 and what a ride so far. Set in the wasteland of a futuristic Texas, We follow Indigo Cruz, A trader that's crew is being held captive until she complies with the Fundies. This was a great book 2 and can't wait to see what happens in the next book.

Absolutely brilliant, I loved it! If you're a fan of dystopian science fiction, then you need this book in your life. The second installment of Young's Dark Republic series, this book takes place at roughly the same time as "Soledad," with the two stories converging masterfully during what is arguably the most emotionally-wrenching scene in the first book.
While there are many elements I could sing the praises of, I think what I'm coming to appreciate the most about these books is how the author can take characters who are initially despicable and somehow evoke sympathy from the reader by the end. Who would have thought I'd end up actually liking Prayer Donovan?
Well done, man. Keep 'em coming!

For the second time this week D.L. Young has caused me to stay up way later than I should have to finish one of his books. Once more the story pulls you in and will not let you out until you finish. I have to say I liked this book better then Soledad. In Indigo you really clear how dangerous it is to live in Texas. Unlike Soledad, Indigo did not grow up protected for her first 16 or 17 years. She understands just how dangerous it is out there, and when the time comes to choose sides you really see what she stands for.

Good

The second book was as good as the first. But I still need more details. For instance what started this mess?

Another great book from DL Young

Indigo was even better than Soledad (which was fantastic). It takes place during the same timeline as the first book and really enhances the depth of an already well developed storyline. Great tie in with the first book at the end. I can't wait for the next book in this series.

Indigo Cruz is a trader in the Republic, a very successful trader. The Fundamentalist Church of Divine Wrath, or Fundies as they are called by others, are staking out new territory and they need Indigo’s help. As a trader she knows how to stay off the Dallasites radar. To insure her compliance, they have captured her crew. Not knowing the purpose of the mission, she finds herself in the middle of a war for control of the Republic. Can she use this to her advantage and come out on the winning side? Will she be able to get her crew back? And, how does Soledad play into all of this?

Young’s second novel in the Dark Republic series, Indigo, neatly dovetails into the story of the first novel. While the first novel focused primarily on Don Flaco and his army, this book focuses on the Reverend Zachariah Wright and the Fundies along the same timeline. It is a well written, fast paced novel. This futuristic, post-apocalyptic tale is gritty and full of hard characters. Young’s world building skills are such that you can vividly imagine every detail.

I highly recommend this series and can hardly wait for the next installment.

5 out of 5 stars.

I received this book for free from the author for review consideration. This in no way affected my opinion of the book, or the content of my review.

A worthy follow-up to Soledad, this book continues and develops the story and some of the characters of the warring factions in a dystopian Texas.

Although the book is complete in itself, the end is left open for what I assume will be a third and final book - I look forward to it.

DL Young has created a realistic world set in a dystopian vision of Texas; one that relies on its own fields of natural gas and oil. Indigo, the narrator and trader by profession, takes a little warming up to but you soon find yourself on her side.

There are twists and turns that make “Indigo” a successful action thriller, with tense moments that ramp up as we get nearer the end, linked by quieter, introspective moments.

If I could add an extra .5 I would!

Indigo

I like this character who is a trader in this world. She gets involved in many adventures while being captive by the fundies.
Now for the third book. So far no romance which would be nice. Still, a good read.

I took a bit longer to get into it, but enjoyed it. I was happy to see Solidad making an appearance, too.
