What goes around comes around. Seventeen-year-old Evan uses his almost omnipotence for everything he can wish for. For teasing, humiliating and using others to satisfy his perverted mind. Until, one day, he makes a wish too many and cannot undo things anymore. His twisted thought seals his destiny and the fate of the world. Sick, full of pranks and entertaining!

If I didn't know any better, I'd guess the author had a sit-down interview with my ex-husband to research a personality type for the main character in this story. He NAILED him. I was annoyed and disgusted from the first page. All I could hope for was some poetic justice and...I wasn't disappointed. I was surprised - the tale didn't exactly go in the direction I thought it might, but I walked away from it with the satisfaction that that punk-a** bast*** got exactly what he deserved!

Evan is your typical 7-year-old kid, until one day when he wishes he had a cheeseburger rather than the boring supper his mom had made. A second later, he had a big ‘ol burger right there in his hands, ready to devour. He wasn’t sure what had happened or how, but it did. He enjoyed every bite of that burger, by the way. Over time, he came to realize he was omnipotent, absolutely unstoppable. He could transport to other places around the world, wish for toys or anything of his heart’s desire. He could even change his appearance. But just like the genie who is freed from the confines of his lamp to grant wishes, warning you to be careful what you wish for, so too did Evan need to be careful. It’s not easy being omnipotent, after all. One night he was careless and woke up to…well you’ll have to read the story to find out! It’s a quick read from the talented author of the Morium Trilogy and very well worth the time to check out the good, and the bad, of being all powerful.

Be careful what you wish. High forces made a joke with Evan but he was not aware of this at first. He was born omnipotent and he could do everything, to change a shape, to erase events from other's memories and to do pranks with people anytime and anywhere. His powers were marvelous, but one day he wished to enjoy just in his own company.
This story wakes up feelings of solitude. Who are we without our beloved ones, even if we have everything we wanted, what is happiness when you can't share this? What is the fun of that?
The author uses the sarcastic approach (which is my favorite one)but readers could feel deep emotions when it comes to the discussion about important things. This is a story about missed opportunities. Say I am sorry or I love you until is late.

Evan is not a pleasant boy; the only people he doesn’t think it’s fun to tease are his parents, whom he loves. You see, being omnipotent, he can have anything he wishes for… almost. He plays jokes as a teenager that become bolder and more embarrassing, but where is the harm when he can expunge what happened from people’s memories? This is a fun read, and it left me interested in S J Herman’s other short stories.

This is a well written, intense, but really short read. I think it could be called more of a teaser for what is yet to come. If so, I can't wait for the next chapter. Imagine what life must be like for Evan, the main character. The guy is not very likable, but with the events that happen, I have a feeling all that could change. The author has a great writing style and gives readers a story that will have them caught up in suspense.

This book is suitable for ages 14+
Evan is telling this story in the first person. Evan has some twisted thoughts and he knows it, he makes no apologies for it because he believes there is no harm caused to others. Even was 7 when he first figured out that all he had to do was wish for what he wanted and it appeared, for a 7 year old things stayed pretty simple. As the main character gets older he grows bolder and fancies himself a God, feels there are no consequences for his actions. I know teenagers can be spiteful, but this character is a bit demented. I think what happened to him was plain ol' karma.
This might have been short, but it has some big reminders. I think this was well written and original.

As one reader to another, I suggest going in blind when reading most books, don't read the blurb, anything about the author, nothing, just one-click the book and leap... that is exactly what I did with this gem.
This was a short, but it was so descriptive and entertaining. I listened to it on the Kindle, while at work. All I could do was go, Wow! Oh...wow! Wow!
When the book ended, it made me reflect: how do I treat the ones around me (my family, co-workers, friends, the lady who jumped in front of me at the supermarket) and what thoughts do I think on a daily basis. Have I lived the best I could?

Eventus is the story of a young man who can wish for almost anything he wants. Being young, he had no sense of consequence and being almost omnipotent, he can get away with anything. He enjoyed playing with people and humiliating them. It's the bully in Morium, yeah I think that's what S.J. Hermann had in mind when he wrote this. But in this book, the author had fun giving the character Evan, his just deserves.

I am a fan of SJ Hermann's Morium trilogy. I couldn't believe my luck when I saw he had a short story out. I really liked how unpredictable the story was. It was fast paced and had a somewhat original concept. The slightly quirky humor was right up my ally and in that way I was able to connect to the main character. As a fan of Aesop fables I also loved that there was a lesson at the end.

S. J. Hermann’s writing is innovative and refreshingly not run of the mill. This fantasy tale I found difficult to categorise in one genre. It’s almost a parody of Bildungsroman, although Evan never quite makes it as a mature human adult.
Don’t get me wrong this is an engaging short tale. Evan as a young boy discovers his exceptional talents of what ever he wants or desires, by merely willing it, it actually will happen. Any desire is granted. As he grows older he manipulates and plays games with peoples minds and expectations, even his close friends and often in a cruel manner. BUT…there comes a time when it unravels in a depressing and dystopian fuelled panorama of bleakness…..Can’t say more, but do read it if you want a new angle to your repertoire.
I found it engaging and you may too. For me on it’s originality - a 5* read

Author S.J, Hermann brings us a short story about Evan, a teenager who one day when he was seven found out that he could create anything with his mind. Seven years later when he is high school and after years of pulling pranks he get's one of his enemies is trouble because one of his powers is to shape shift and he turns into that boy in order to lay his girlfriend and make a mockery of her party. Later on he watches a show about how life on Earth would be if no living creature was on it. Well he falls asleep watching it and I won't give away the rest of the story. This is a great short story and one not to be missed. I highly recommend it.

An Experience You Need to Read
This was awesome. SJ packs so much into such a short area. This will elicit feelings that you never thought you could have. But, what is more amazing? It is the shallowness of a person that grips you, and the end? Nope. Not going to tell you. You’ll just have to read it!

amusing and clever
Eventus was a very interesting read. I loved how S.J. Hermann wrote every detail of the story. One thing I can squeal about the ending was that it made me smile and say, "Yes, what's done is done." And sometimes there's nothing you can do about it. 🌷☕

When Evan was seven years old, he discovered that he could wish for anything and that wish will come true. Initially, he used this "power" to wish for the things that he wanted for himself. Although he loved his parents dearly, he kept this a secret.
Now that Evan is seventeen years old, he has developed other imaginative ways of using his omnipotence. He uses it to manipulate any situations where he can humiliate and have a laugh at the expense of others. Except for his parents, everyone is a potential victim. Even his best friend.
Gregory used to bully him in Junior High and he thinks that it's time for "payback". What he does is totally humiliating and heartless. He doesn't care that he is hurting others in the process! All that matters to him is that he "always" gets what he wants.
Then he wishes for something one night and wakes up to his worse nightmare. This is when he starts to look back on his evil ways. A tad too late!
The lesson here is, using power to manipulate without a conscience, regardless of the consequences is not worth it. Be careful of what you ask for!
