Aidan Phelan has finally gained control over Wolfshead, his family’s craft brewery and distillery, but there’s one catch—his curvy firecracker of an ex-wife has also inherited a share. It was Aidan’s stubborn pride that destroyed their marriage to begin with, and now he has a daily reminder of that failure strutting around in sexy heels and pencil skirts. But he has bigger problems—namely establishing himself as CEO by successfully launching Wolfshead’s new whiskey without his family driving him insane.

Emma Crandall is shocked when she finds out she’s part-owner of Aidan’s family business, the company that drove a wedge between the two of them. Aidan offers to buy her out, but she’s not biting. She’s just started up a freelance marketing consulting business, and working with Wolfshead could open the door to bigger and better clients. Besides, it’s high time she proved to herself that she can handle her arrogant ex, even if he is big, bearded, and hot as hell.

Forced to work together, Aidan and Emma must confront their darkest fears and deepest desires. But owning Wolfshead comes with a price neither of them anticipated…their hearts.

5 - "Things can never be just business with us." Stars!

I am a huge fan of all things Barrett, and I have to say the first book in the new It Factor series gave me all the happy thoughts and feels!

Mainly because the Phelan clan, reminded me an awful lot of the Grayson Brothers and their series; Star Harbor which is my absolute favorite from Elisabeth (so far).

Emma and Aidain’s story is a little different in that they are divorced from each other, and in the two years since both have gone about their lives without the other in it. Aidan’s grandfathers will puts pay to that, when he leaves a share of the family business to her, putting her firmly back into Aidan’s orbit again.

He’d never stopped wanting her. And it was high time he came to grips with that...

I got lost in this book, what with the great story-line playing out between Aidan and Emma, you also have the whole Phelan family to get to know as well, all big, built and attractive, the Phelan men are already on the list of guys-I-want-to-get-to-know, and the author did really well in giving their backgrounds around the main story.

They’d build their relationship from the ground up again and emerge stronger than ever before.

The Wolf's Head brewery is going to play a large part in this series as it develops you can sense that it will be the backbone of the books, as it is the backbone of the Phelan family in general, very much a family business, everyone of them has a hand in it’s success or potential failures, and I am really looking forwards to seeing where the author goes with this part of the bigger plot.

"All I wanted-all I ever wanted- was for you to hear me."

I found myself with a few tears in my eyes at points in this book, watching a couple clearly who still have feelings for each other try and negotiate the minefield of their past, understand why it broke down, and then try to work out if there is any hope for a stronger and more balanced future, while intrinsically still being the same people was interesting to read, and the author put it together really well, it wasn’t all smooth sailing, each of them showed their weaknesses and vulnerabilities at certain points, and you just cannot help root for them to get it right second time around.

"I forgot... How very beautiful you are."

Loved this book, next up is; Want It Brody Phelan looks like he has met his match in Juliette Costa, and I cannot wait to get my hand on their story.

ARC generously provided by the author, and it was a pleasure to provide the above honest review.

If Own It, the first book in author Elisabeth Barrett’s new It Factor series, is indicative of the quality we can expect in what is to come in this unpredictable, exciting, and compelling family based series then readers are in for a treat. Own It is a second chance at love story and really by the time the book is over, it’s a third chance at love story. The couple in this book were divorced and two years later are brought back together because of a meddling old man’s will and his desire to see them both happy. While at times I got frustrated with them both, it did not escape my notice that no matter what went on between them, the love they had for one another was still there. With a wide divide between them, finding their way back to one another proves difficult even though they still relate extremely well on a physical level.

No one is more surprised than Emma Crandall when she finds out her ex-husband’s grandfather has left her 1/8 of the family business, well no one except perhaps Aidan Phelan, her ex. Being in the same room together reminds them of everything that was right between them and everything that went so very wrong. It was interesting watching these two try and work together all while trying to deny the feelings they still had for one another. Emma was smart, spunky, and dedicated to her new marketing and branding business and her family, so it was no surprise that she immediately began to work hard improving Wolfshead Brewing and their new distilling endeavor. I believed underneath Aiden was a good man, perhaps even a great man, but he was so stubborn that at times he was his own worst enemy. What bothered me was that he made the same type of mistake over and over and I’m not really sure he learned from them. I was a little disappointed that we never really got a clear picture as to why Aiden shut down in their marriage; it felt like something was missing in regards to that part of the story. Physically they were equally matched, but emotionally they had a tough road and I hope that as this series goes on we’ll continue to get a glimpse into how their relationship is progressing.

Sometimes the first book in a series is tough because the author is laying the groundwork for the series and introducing all the characters and there are a lot of characters in this series as Aiden has three brothers and three cousins all of whom are involved in the family business and all with very distinct personalities and interests. I feel that Ms. Barrett did a fantastic job of keeping the focus on Emma and Aiden, but still letting the readers get comfortable with what this series is about as well as a bit of a look at the other six Phelan men. While my eyes glazed over a bit at some of the technical aspects of the business, I also realize this was needed so the reader gets a clear understanding of how each of the men fit into the family business.

Complicated, emotional, and so very, very sexy Own It was a fantastic start to an exciting new series and Ms. Barrett will no doubt have readers howling as the stories of the six remaining men that make up Wolfshead Brewery find the loves of their lives.

Thorough investigation needed 1st. Second chance romance raises some yellow flags. And the blurb is tricky.. I didn't get a good vibe from the heroine.
Speaking for myself, like, IMO I wouldn't want my part in a family owned business. Specially as an ex of one of the brothers. It sounds greedy. And opportunistic. I would sell my part.
Waiting for info.. lots of it

LOVED this one!! This is just the first book in a new series and judging from this book it will be a great one. A family owned business is the center of the series and the Phelan's have owned Wolfshead for generations. Now after the passing of his grandfather, the Phelan's are forced to accept an outsider now owns a part of the business. Not just any outsider though. The ex wife of the current CEO Aidan. Being forced to work with Emma will be a struggle for Aidan. He's never really gotten over her leaving him even if he does understand her reasons why. These two go on a wild ride that will force them to confront their past and look to the future.

An absolute must read. I highly recommend it.

"Own It" is that start of a new series by Elisabeth Barrett and I am excited to see how the series plays out. I have read previous books by Elisabeth and was happy to accept a copy to read and to review.

Aidan is a stubborn man who wants to run the family brewery just like his father and his grandfather did.. but it was this exact trait that cost him his marriage to Emma. They were young and in love and had the world by the tail until Aidan's father died and he took over the reins of the company. He worked to keep things status quo except he forgot to work at his marriage, and as a result he and Emma parted ways.

Now Grandpa Paddy is gone, and to everyone's surprise and to Aidan's consternation, he has left Emma a share in the company. She is back in Aidan's life and he realizes how much he still loves her. Only he has not changed.. he is still determined that nothing will change in the company and stubbornly refuses to acknowledge that she has a contribution to make to help the company grow. Emma knows she has never stopped loving him but also knows that if they are going to mend the fences, changes need to be made.

This is a well written story of letting go and of second chance love. Emma and Aidan are strong characters and their love is powerful and tangible.

I enjoyed the book and was pulling for them to deal with their past and to look to the future. Take the time to read this book... you will not regret it.

I've read a few romances and have gotten to know the quirks of the genre and therefore don't rate them based on the trappings of said genre. However, the big thing a romance novel has to do is make you want to see the characters to end up with each other and from start to finish I wanted Emma to stay away from her ex-husband Aidan. This is the kind of relationship where if you knew these people in real life you would try to get Emma out of this toxic relationship.

SPOILERS INCOMING!

So Emma is in the unfortunate position of inheriting a 1/8 ownership of her ex-husband's company. Crappy situation for everyone, I get that. However, we later hear from Aidan that he loves Emma and never stopped loving her but he plots to get her out of the company and shoot down every idea she has without every considering it.

When Emma casually mentions that she has a light fixture in her house that is broken, Aidan decides to BREAK INTO HER HOUSE to fix it. He did not think she was capable of fixing it and had to break into her place for her own good. Yay misogyny! Of course they have sex right after.

Aidan is a jerk to Emma until her father ends up in the hospital. Aidan's father had died six years prior and after seeing Emma freak out about her own dad's health he realizes that she is also a person with feelings. It takes Emma's dad being hospitalized for Aidan to start treating her with any ounce of respect. #GrowingAsAPerson

It takes his company suffering a huge setback to even begin to look at Emma's proposal for branding and marketing the company. He then sees that maybe she is right. The opinions of the woman I "love" don't matter unless they can directly benefit me.

But hey, they have amazing sexual chemistry so everything is just fine. There is one point where Emma recalls that her dad always said that looks don't matter and how he stuck by those principles even when his wife/Emma's mom was dying of cancer. The sentence after this is Emma commenting on how good looking Aidan is. What was the point of all that then?

Plot problems aside, the writing is clunky and the most interesting characters like Emma's friend Sara are out of the plot before the halfway point.

I Love Elisabeth's new book Own It. It's got the family aspect that I love--all working together at a family business, the love lost and found again, and the meddling grandfather...I love when they meddle!!! I'm anxiously awaiting the next book in this series....I'm hoping that all the brothers are finding love, because they certainly are characters!! Aiden and Emma certainly had their challenges and their history....and it was fun to see if they would find their way back to each other.

Own It is the first in a new series by Elisabeth Barrett. I could not put down this book! In this fantastic story, we meet Emma Crandall and Aiden Phelan....two people who were once married and are now divorced. Since the divorce, Emma has gone out on her own starting a marketing company while Aiden has worked at his family's brewery, Wolfshead. The beginning of the story finds them reunited through Aiden's recently deceased grandfather who leaves part ownership of the brewery to Emma...something Aiden severely resents.

Aiden and Emma's story is one of second-chance romance. There is so much to love about Own It. Emma is a strong, caring person. I love the relationship she has with both Aiden's family as well as with her own father. Aiden is the oldest of the younger generations of Phelan's. The family sucked me right in, making me love all of them. You can feel his deep sense of responsibility both towards his family as well as the business, which is just branching out into distilling whiskey. There is a very strong chemistry between Emma and Aiden that has you cheering them on as they find one another again.

Elisabeth Barrett's Own It is only the beginning. She has written strong, likable characters that make you want to pull up a barstool, hang out with them, and see how they all find their HEA. I cannot wait to read more about the Phelan family. I highly recommend this book and look forward to the next one.

Great second chance romance! Emma & Aidan met in college, fell in love & got married after graduation. Theirs was an idyllic life until Aidan was informed that his father & uncle had died in an accident. Aidan moved home & started fighting his grandfather for control of the family business. In his determination to be there for the business, he shut Emma out of his life until she felt she had no choice but to divorce him. Now, several years later, they are brought back together by the death of his Grandfather. The chemistry is still there but has anything changed? Can Emma risk her heart again?

After reading this one, I can't wait for the rest of the series! The interactions between the characters are emotional, intense & realistic. The writing is intense & allows you to experience the connection, hurt & longing between Emma & Aidan as you read. The plot draws you into the story but the possibility of true love winning out keeps you reading. The family love, support & interactions between the brothers & cousins gives the story added dimension. The appearance of each character is descriptive & detailed enough that I was able to draw a picture of them in my mind. I felt emotionally connected to the characters & the story. I couldn't decide for the longest time whether I liked Aidan or not. He had an arrogant manner & treated Emma horribly but I began to realize he was using that as a mask to hide his vulnerability & insecurity. There are some slightly explicit sex scenes but they are tastefully done & are easy enough to skip past if you wish to. I'm not sure who's story is next but I can't wait!

First in a new series it's always exciting to see the beginning. The Phelan's are a crazy but bunch of alpha males trying to run a craft brewery and distillery without killing each other. Aidan is the oldest of the bunch but just barely. He's definitely head alpha and wants everyone to know it. He gave up a promising career and a major league baseball player when his dad and his dad's twin brother were killed in a car accident to come home and help run the company. He constantly butted heads with his grandfather until he passed away. In his grandfather's will was one surprise he didn't expect. A share of the company going to his ex-wife Emma. Emma decided to stick it out and be a part of the business. They of course butt heads as again Aidan is the head alpha and needs to have his way. You know i did not like Aidan much at all. He definitely had to grow on me and until he saw what he screwed up with Emma, TWICE, i didn't care for him one bit. Thanks god he saw the error of his ways. I'm like the other brothers and cousins and am interested to see who they will be. Book two releases in November. Can't wait to see what happens with Aidan's cousin Brody.

I had the opportunity to read any starter book by Elisabeth Barrett and after looking at each of her series I chose to go with this story. something about it just pulled at something in me. I love a second chance romance and a deeply emotional story and this did not disappoint. Emma is a strong, smart and independent woman who is bequeathed a portion of her ex husbands family's business which throws them together again. Aiden is furious when he learns that his grandfather has put him in a position in which he has to be around his ex wife whom he has never gotten over. The chemistry between these two stubborn and hurt individuals practically burns up the pages. this story had you feeling both their pain and their passion and rooting for them both. I am looking forward to reading more of this series if the first one is any indication as to how good it will be. 5 stars from start to finish.

A great story of family, friendship, and love.

Emma and Aidan are divorced. So both are shocked when Aidan's grandfather leaves her a share of the family business. It is a great opportunity for her freelance marketing business, though, so she isn't ready to sell her share despite Aidan's insistence.

Elisabeth Barrett did a fabulous job setting the scene in the city of Portland. She described the city and it's vibe so well. The book even opens with a mention of Voodoo Donuts.

Emma is a great protagonist. Even though she is in a difficult position, working with an ex she still has feelings for, she is determined to work hard and succeed. I loved the way she was willing to stand up to Aidan, too.

The relationship and obstacles Emma and Aidan have to overcome felt realistic and well plotted. The story didn't feel too drawn out or over the top angsty.

I am looking forward to reading about the rest of the Phelan clan!

I received an ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book.

This was the first book I read by this author. The book was well written with a steady flow that drew me in and kept me from wanting to put it down. Emma is in marketing and just started her own business. She is at a lawyers office for a meeting that she's unsure of the topic. Turns out she is given a share in her ex husbands craft beer company. Aidan is beyond angry, but Emma decides to see if she can be part of the company and keep things professional. Aidan begins to realize how he shut down and shut her out of his life when his father died. All the things that lead to their divorce. He begs for a chance to try again with Emma. It takes some time, but they give things another chance. A few bumps along the way, but an amazing story to get there. Second chance romance at its best!

Elisabeth is a new to me author who came highly recommended from multiple friends. Since Ms. Barrett has a somewhat extensive backlist, I’m not quite sure why I’ve never heard of her before now.

I really enjoyed reading Own It. It was a little different as the couple were previously married and divorced. One thing I liked is that there was no angst, no deep betrayal, just two people who let time get away. Which made for a quick, light, fun, read.

The only thing missing for me was the epilogue. I’m sure we will see them in other books, but I really would of enjoyed a little something more.

4 Stars!

Aidan and Emma, young love and happily married until Aidan had to give up his baseball career and go back to help run the family's Wolfshead Brewery after a family tragedy. Aidan immersed himself with work and didn't realize until it was too late his marriage had crumbled. They divorce and Emma leaves town to begin her new life. Two years later they reunite professionally and they have no choice but to work together. Feelings start to ignite and they are both faced with a second chance of love. Should they? Aidan realizes he screwed up the first time and is determined to get back Emma. Great story full of emotions. This book is the first in the It Factor series.

Own It by Elisabeth Barrett.....Fantastic start to this new series. Elisabeth Barrett hit this one out of the park, it kept me hooked all the way through. I absolutely loved watching Aiden and Emma getting a second chance at love. They both had things to work through, but will it be enough. I highly recommend this book and I can't wait for the next book. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Other than the great body and great sex, exactly what Emma sees in Aiden escapes me. The best part of the book for me was the dinner that Emma has with her two best friends, Robin and Sara. In fact, I would have liked to know more about the budding romance with Sara and Johann. That relationship seemed a lot more grounded and interesting. All that being said, the setting is lovely and the writing is solid. I just didn't buy in to the primary relationship.

Own It by Elisabeth Barrett is the first book in her It Factor series. Second chance romances are one of my favorite tropes and I loved seeing Emma and Aidan reclaim the love they once had before their marriage ended. I enjoyed seeing Aidan grow and become trusting once again of Emma. It was heartwarming watching them rediscover the love that had initially brought them together when they were in school. Of course, there is always a misunderstanding and I liked watching how Emma and Aidan dealt with it and learned how to work together as they managed Wolfshead.

I absolutely loved this book and I can’t wait for the next book in the series. I’d like to disclose that I voluntarily read and reviewed this book and this is my true and honest opinion.

Elisabeth Barrett has crafted the first book in a fantastic new series. This is another take-off on the now very popular "seven brides for seven brothers" theme. Aidan Phelan is the oldest of the Phelan brothers and cousins and CEO of Wolfshead craft beer and whisky company. Emma Crandall is his ex-wife and a woman he still loves.

The characters are wonderfully developed and the action kept me glued to the book.

I loved the way I was rooting for them to get back together but you knew that Emma had hurt him. It was sweet to see them work together professionally and on their wonderful romance. great job Elisabeth, can't wait for the next in the series!

Do you love a good family series? Yes! Good me too, and this one does not disappoint! This is the first book in Elisabeth’s It Factor series and it’s a winner! This book will hook you in from the first page and leave you twiddling your thumbs in anticipation of the next in the series. Aidan and Emma have a long history together and when they are forcefully tossed back into each other's lives they must deal with a bunch of unresolved issues before they can find their HEA.

Aidan is a big burly bearded man who is stubborn and thinks he has everything figured out and knows what’s best until Emma takes everything he knows to be true and shows him it could be even better. I love a good second chance romance and this is one of the best I have read in a while. I also love a family series since I always get invested in the lives of the secondary characters and want to see how their stories play out. If you are a fan of Bella Andre’s Sullivan series or Marie Force’s Butler Vermont or Gansett Island series than don’t think twice about this book it’s exactly what you are looking for and you will love it. I have read all of Elisabeth’s books and I think they are all wonderful but this one is by far her best yet and sets the stage for what I’m sure is going to be an incredible series.

YAY - I just found a new fabulous author and series! I couldn't get enough of Aidan and Emma! Second chance love - history - the sexual tension - OMG! These two both have very strong personalities and challenge each other emotionally and mentally. A family business left to the grandsons with a catch. This catch has Aidan spinning and he can't find a way to get rid of it, but does he really want to? Own It has great family, friends and sexy parts! You will love all the grandsons - each one has their own funny way about them. I can't wait for the next story!!!

This was a good story about second chances. I felt it went into the making of Whiskey to much. But thats me not being a drinker. Emmnd Aiden both never stopped loving each other, but need to open up to each other and find out why their marriaged failed. They both had to do some personal growth in this story. I loved the personalities of Aiden's brothers and cousins. It was a good start to a new serie. Looking forward to the other stories.
