I read this book when I was a young teen. I do remember enjoying these stories, especially as it was near Halloween.

I read this book as a young teen and I've found memories of being haunted with the ending in 'The Awful Apple Orchard'
Good book for kids that enjoy the genre of horror ~!

My ranking of the four stories:
1) The Locked Room
2) The Enchanted Attic
3) The Awful Apple Orchard
4) A Ghastly Shade of Green (an absolutely terrible story, in plot and writing)

A friend got me this book when I was in middle school or something, and I just read it this year in 2011.

I guess being 19, children's books aren't my first reads, but I still liked it. And if there were to be republished, I would probably read more of M.D Spencer's "Shivers" books.

These stories are children's horror movies. Just like Goosebumps. Obviously, being childen's books, there not scary. Maybe to children they would be. But the stories still kept be interested. I can't remember how long it took me to read it, but I know it was not very long at all. Even though it isn't scary, I still got that creepy and suspenseful feeling.

Overall, I liked stories in this book. They were a simple and quick read, they were only about 120-125 pages for each story. Like I said interesting. I was surprised with the ending of the last story, "The Awful Apple Orchard. After reading the first three, it was unexpected.

I loved this a book that I could talk about that actually scared me and I still think about it but the last story I didn't like as it was a bit confusing and sadder than the others
