After working for the past two years on the re-election campaign of Senator Michael Andreaz, Ned Albrecht was exactly where he wanted to be. Everything seemed to be going Ned’s way. In addition to having a new apartment and a new girlfriend, Ned was working as chief aide to the senior senator from the Great State of Texas.
Ned was quickly learning all about how decisions were being made in the nation’s capital. But as everything was coming together for Ned, trouble was brewing back home. Just as Ned is getting settled in, the Senator has him on a flight back to Texas to monitor the newly established alien relocation center in El Paso.
As the drought worsens across the American Southwest, the relationship between the United States and Mexico continues to break down. While hundreds are being deported daily, long-standing disputes have risen to the surface, turning the border cities of El Paso and Juárez into militarized zones.
Dropped into the middle of the powder keg, Ned Albrecht must navigate the complicated history and present political minefields in order to survive the day and help save two nations.

This book made me think. I enjoyed the book and it was very exciting. With everything happening lately this book may strike a cord with many people. I think it is a great piece of work. * I received this book from the author and this is my honest review*
I want to thank Chad Clabo, author & Goodreads First Reads Giveaway for the eBook Kindle copy I won in the Giveaway.
Ned Albrecht, aid to Senator Michael Andreaz from Texas is sent to Texas into a political powder keg about to blow up and into danger across the border to gather intelligence. He is betrayed by a fellow American, rescued by an exceptionally brave Mexican girl, escapes to safety and is sent back to Mexico on another mission, so the danger and action are constant throughout the book.
Lisa, the Mexican girl comes form a good family that owns a business and is able to help Ned in many ways on their adventure together. The political problems about immigration are part of the plot with insight into the history of the problems between Mexico and the United States and how it has accumulated to the crisis at the base of the plot. Dueling Eagles refers to the Golden Eagle that Mexico uses as a symbol and the Bald Eagle that is a symbol of the United States, which fits the story perfectly.
The plot was strong, the character interaction dealt with deep political problems facing both Mexico and the United State, but I felt the ending was a bit weak although I still think the book was exceptionally good.
Remarkably original! So intriguing and captures the imagination and yet the story could appear in tomorrow's headlines. I love that this book is topical and hits border wars head on. I enjoyed the bit of historical perspective - although I am not sure it is part of the story or real life. Probably wouldn't show up in the history books even if true. The characters stepped up and were who I thought they should be until they weren't - really took me by surprise. I especially enjoyed, Lisa, the unexpected heroine with stakes on both sides of the border and how she followed her own truth. A fast paced adventure with political minefields, betrayal, heroism, and an inconvenient truth. A good read.
A border war between Mexico and the USA. Started and resolved in a few hours days., With an ending you could never have exp e ted. I recommend this book to people who enjoy action and drama. I received this book from Goodreads for free.
This book was a great fast paced adventure. It's something that could very well take place in the near future. (Hopefully not) It also has a couple things in the book that make you wonder about.
I won this in a GOODREADS giveaway -- Dueling Eagles by Chad Clabo --- I would put it in the older teen plus reading level due to the topics/subject matter. Only a couple hundred pages long.. Very intense story. A good read!
