They say everyone has their inner demons, but in my case, I really do. Two hundred years ago, my mother summoned my inner monster. Since then, other than making me immortal, my demon has been trying to teach me murder, irresponsible lust, bloodthirsty violence, and the joys of total mayhem. Meanwhile, I’m trying to instill in him the best of human compassion, understanding, moderation—you get the idea. Having an inner demon has made relationship issues challenging. Just ask my on again, off again hottie, the Beast Lord. I’m trying really, really hard to be good for my demon’s sake. It’s not my fault I keep accidentally killing people.
MY BOOKS in the order I wrote them: Elizabeth Bondage* Bound and Freed* Carmen's NY Romance* Amy's Forbidden Fantasy* Karma What Wendy Wants Fate Kink* (Fate #2) Promises to Keep Abuse Trilogy Accuse (Abuse #2) Avenge (Abuse #3) Demon Blessed
André (the sexy sex counsellor) is 36 years old in the above books. In ABUSE he is 26 (to 28).The stars* mean heavy BDSM. André is in all of my books except "What Wendy Wants," "Promises to Keep," and "Demon Blessed."
“Janice St. John can talk to dead people and is host to a demon that feeds on energy. The more violent the better.... kinky sex is the safest way to satiate her demon’s hunger without resorting to violence, but harboring a demon is a death sentence in the paranormal world so this remains a secret known only to a select group.....Stafford the Alpha King, the magically enthralled vampire, Leonidas Sparagis, her demon-seeking assassin, and Toby her faithful dog just to name a few. Janice feels like she can finally get her HEA with Stafford. They are desperately in love with each other and forever looks good to them..... Until it all goes to hell. Literally. Someone is trapping ghosts. They’re kidnapping and imprisoning them. The Spirit Orb has disappeared too! What are they planning to do with all that trapped power? And the real kicker? It seems that Janice is connected to the whole thing and she is the key to saving the the paranormal world! ( wait until you see why) This is a mind bending story about twisted sexual acts, murder, mayhem, torture, slaughter, dark magic, violence, death, loss, and relentless pain... but there is also redemption, acceptance, and every flavor of exquisite erotic romance between mates. This story is full of intrigue. There are stories within stories. It's not your typical good vs evil saga. It's way more than that! I'm not so sure it's over just yet. I highly recommend you read the first installment "Demon Blessed " to fully appreciate the characters and what's happening. And 18+ only please due to adult content. Buckle up, this ride is known to go sideways without warning!
I really liked the first book and was so excited to pick up the second. I'm sad to say that I seem to be on the opposite side of the reviews after book one. A lot of books have this mate and connection aspect; however, this book went beyond in a different sense that makes it pretty sad. After a certain turning point, the book just went down the drain. Unfortunately, I do not recommend reading this book. It was so disappointing because the first book was just great! It wasn't just the romance, but also the plot. It got a bit confusing, rather rushed, and I hate to say...somewhat boring. My heart literally sunk at how this played out.
This book is the second in the series and they do need to be read in order. Jan is a psychic who can talk to ghosts, is half fae, and if that wasn't enough, her Mom hexed her with a baby demon in 1815, giving her immortality. Demons by nature feed on death, strong emotions and chaos. Jan has raised her demon to feed off of sexual energy and the magical blast from a ghost crossing over. She tries to be bland, blend in at all times, and emotionless. She tries to teach her demon the 9 virtues and to avoid the deadly sins, especially murder.
In book one you meet some of her work and police human friends. You meet the alpha of the werewolves who she becomes mated to. You also meet a 2,000+ year old vampire who hunts demons. Interesting stories come from all of these people as a murderer is hunted down.
In this story her inner "beings" grow, her relationship undergoes a lot of challenges, and all the people from the first book have a new mystery to solve, as someone has kidnapped 15 related psychics & thousands, maybe millions of ghosts.
the unnecessary repitition of things already explained almost killed me. after eagerly purchasing it to reD the surprise turn of events I was disappointed greatly. Wolfy was an absolute ass and veritable prick. really could have thrown his character out the damn door. even in a fantasy novel it became a bit to fantastical for me. that says a lot right there!
My review is based on the audiobook. Wow Jan's journey is a thrilling ride. This is book 2 - I did not read book 1 and felt as if I understood everything, although since I liked it so much I do want to go and read book 1 now. There was plenty of action and heated sex scenes but that did not overtake the story. The characters are well written and likeable. The narrator is one of my favorites and I am always eager to listen when she narrates, Her recordings are great quality with perfect pacing and character voices that are easy to understnd and distinguishable. I look forward to more from this author and narrator.
Hard to imagine, but I enjoyed Demon Lost even more than the first in the series, Demon Blessed. Not easy, since the first one was fantastic! Janice St. John continues her rollercoaster ride with her hottie, Stafford, Lord of the werewolves, and Leonidas, her very own vampire to boss around, both of whom she's collared into obeying her every wish. One fights her, the other adores her, except it's not the one she wants to. And someone has stolen the spirit orb in hopes of using it along with the energy from thousands of spirits caught to open a portal into Earth from a sinister world. TONS of intrigue, suspense, romance, HOT sex and fights to the finish.
I really liked the first book. The 2nd book lost me with how Stafford treated Janice considering it was caused by something similar to what Stafford did to Janice in the 1st book. His behavior made me HATE him. I was team Leonidas. I really, really, really wanted a romantic relationship to happen between Janice and Leonidas but there is no chance of that happening.
I hated that Janice felt she had to be extremely submissive at all times with Stafford. In fact her super submissive behavior overall really bugged me especially when being mistreated by people. I don't like what this conveys to readers that woman shouldn't stick up for themselves. I would have been more impressed if she would have handled bullies in a calm and assertive manner.
The conflict at the end of the book confused me. I didn't really understand how it was resolved. I really hated that Janice forced Leonidas to do something that he promised himself that he would never do and without the consent of all parties involved. Janice doing that was horrible and immoral. I ended up being disgusted by Janice and how the book ended.
Where are the rest of her eggs? I don't recall them being found. And she only had 6 not 9. But this story was very good. Her daddy though? Totally blown by that revelation. I was thinking her mom or something. Lol I think she should have been with Leo. Their bond was stronger.
This is definitely a series that needs to be listened to in order, this book won't make sense without reading book one first.
I love it when the second book in a series isn't a 'filler' book, and this one definitely isn't. I enjoyed this book more than the first book.
I did not like the Stafford in this book however, he needed a good kick up the arse for most of the book.
Poor Jan's life goes from worse to weirder in a cycle throughout the book and Stafford makes it so much harder than it needed to be.
Even for a fantasy book this book is very fantastical. I was very impressed with the world building and the character development. I can't wait for book three.
The narration is excellent, the character voices are distinct and there's lots of characters and the overall delivery did a fabulous job of conveying emotion and tension.
I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.
Not nearly as good as book 1. I hate when authors somehow make you not like the Hero (example is Edward in the twilight series. He did NOT do a good grovel amd freaking Bella tried to commit suicide by jumping off a freakin cliff in her sadness of him leaving her. she meets Jacob and they become friends and in my opinion should have dumped Edwards hard on his ass and moved on with Jacob—hence I had a really hard time the rest of the series wrapping my head around the fact the heroine would forgive him and still want him. Arg!) Any-rant, I’m bugged that The Hero was such a douche-nozel to the heroine at the beginning of this book for something she had no control over. Yuck. Sooooo I kept hoping that she would get over him and move on to someone better who would actually treat her right but that is NOT what went down. Anyways, for this I don’t want to invest time or energy reading book 3 to see if anything would be better or if it’s the same type of bull.

This book is FANTASTIC. I really loved the first book. I never expect the second book in a series to be as good as the first, but this one really was just as amazing (maybe slightly better). I still really like Jan as the main character. She is extremely smart, totally kickass, and an actual good person. Those 3 qualities are hard to find even in fictional characters, I guess. I love both her men. Although I always tend to gravitate towards the vamps. ( Richard vs. Jean Claud= JC, Edward vs. Jacob= Edward, Bill, and Sookie vs. Big werewolf guy whose name I can't remember= Bill. So I guess I must have a type. But they have an awesome relationship. Man... I wish I was demon blessed!! Again, the narrator was awesome. Yes, she says Wonton (like the Chinese food) instead of Wanton. But it's cute and I still think she does a fabulous job. I can't wait to read/listen to the next one. I am totally hooked.
Shitty narrator aside, Jan is beginning to work my nerves. When she's not being a complete scatterbrained horndog, she is reminding us that she's a doctor, and really rich, and the "love of her life" (said in just that way, no matter the context, no matter how recently she said it, no matter how he treats her) is really hot and sexy and she is SO faithful, no matter how hot and sexy her vampire pal is, and he is really hot and sexy, TYVM . We get it, Jan. We do. How about you move the plot along and even half way attempt to hold my interest? I'm really only continuing this series in hopes that John and Leo end up together, because you implied that one was good for the other, and then promptly dropped the whole thing. So, to be clear, if at the end of the series, there is no HEA for those two, I'm coming back and giving each book a single star rating.
This book was a complicated, emotional, very in depth ride. Continuing right where Demon Blessed left off, Jane has to figure out how how to navigate and survive the many obstacles in front of her. The was the same cast of characters that I enjoyed before, even if I wasn't always super fond of them.
I do think this story could have been shorter. It was very detailed and took some turns and described somethings that I didn't see as being wholly necessary for the story. I also had a few moments where I seriously didn't like Stafford. I tried to be understanding, but it was really hard. Jane seemed to have forgiven some very cruel things very easily. But all in all this was a good continuation of this story.
The narration was fantastic. Sarah Puckett did an outstanding job.
Nikki does it again in Demon Lost. Jan wants nothing more than to release the collar she has on Stafford and Leo, but she doesn't even come close. Love how John becomes involved and meeting Staffords Beta.
Parts seemed repetitive and therefore annoying. Loved some of the details, seemed to drag on. About half of staffords section was repetitive and annoying. Ending was crappy. It did finally explain the ravens though. Kind of.
Definitely invested in this world and it's characters. Still have a few questions left but hopefully they'll be answered in the next book, can't wait. It was good definitely a good series just a slower build than some you might find, but patience is a virtue lol
I’m so glad I came back for the print version of this series because it’s so interesting. I love how metaphysical her relationship with her demon is and all the supernatural creatures. I can’t wait for the next one!
This series just keeps getting better. Jan and her ever expanding encourage of characters finds herself in more and more danger. Fast paced and thrilling this story keeps you on the edge of your seat! brilliantly written!
This book is so clearly unedited and compounded by a narrator who mispronounced so many words. Yet every time I tried to give up, the plot sucked me in. Hate finished it.
Second book in the Demon Blessed Series, Demon Lost is complex. Janice St. John try’s to navigate her life through the many pitfalls that ensnare her while she diversely try’s to untangle them to escape and find reality, but can she find a reprieve? Cliffhanger in the way, hopefully Demon Dreams has the answers. Sarah Puckett narrates this multifaceted story. Thank you Audiobook Boom for gifting me this audible book for a fair and honest review.
I had ZERO interest in demons...until the 1st book in this series, "Demon Blessed." I only read it because I love the author so much. I read & love everything she does. So, although wary & skeptical, I trusted her & took a leap of faith. I'm thrilled that I did!!!
I've read both books in this series & I'm LOVING it! This book, is exceptional, not just for a paranormal book, but for any book!
Nikki did it AGAIN! Demon Lost is INTENSE! It's an entertaining, edge-of-your-seat, roller coaster that's so much fun. Because SHE wrote it, it's also thought-provoking, strangely emotional, witty, horrific, sexy & truly wonderful.
How does she think these things up? How can anyone be so imaginative & clever? She created a world where realistic, easy to relate to characters are immersed in fantastic adventures.
I couldn't put this book down. I didn't want to do anything else when I read it. There were times when reality interfered, and I ask myself how I'd function--my brain was so involved in the story.
Nothing better than a woman with a demon, a wolf and who is part fairy. But that's what Jan is, but more than that. She a strong woman to start. You gotta read this to learn more
