Katrina baker is a super. She has mental abilities such as telekinesis, telepathy, and others. Her parents are supervillains, and she isn’t all that sure she’s cut out for that line of work. Her empathy with others through her power makes it hard to be uncaring, much less mean or evil to people. Problem is, the last thing she wants to do is disappoint mom and dad.

Katrina gets caught up in her mother’s supervillain plot to rid the world of the indestructible hero Omega. That’s when it all goes really wrong, and she finds herself on another world.

Banished.

Will she be able to find her way back home, or even understand this new world of gods and magic, or will she die trying?

I've been an avid book reader since I was a teenager in the 1980's. My preferred genre's are science fiction and fantasy.

I wrote some short stories and was encouraged to try writing and self publishing by some friends. I work in computers and writing is an obsessive hobby I have been trying to hone for a couple of years now. I'll let you judge if I have succeeded or not.

interesting idea/take on the transported to a magical world genre. Katrina is an OP Mary Sue. Her only weakness appears to be getting distracted or losing focus.

I did like this book's take on a multiverse. Think Onions. Yes it has layers (thank you Shrek). But the notion that the farther from the magic core of the multiverse the less magic is in the world and the faster time progresses was interesting.

Some time getting away from him brings out your true self.

Really enjoy this take on a super villain/heroine transported to a world of magic. Like the mc with her not being really evil or too good.

This is a nice twist on the usual fantasy superhero novels.

It's a story of a girl that has super powers. catch, her parents are super villians, double catch she's trying to save the dad of the guy she likes and ends up getting sent to a fantasy world that doesn't have super hero's/villians, but has magic and has to figure out a way to get back home.... overall the story is a nice story and the character while not deep are still entertaining. The obvious build up between the MC and the love intrest are pretty fun to read about. It's like when you have two friends who obviously like each other, but reFUSE to date and then one day you see them sucking face...yeah well, this is the story about everything between why they weren't and then are full on PDA without a care, but this story just happens to have magic, trolls, and the living dead sprinkled in.

If you're looking for something that's deep in meaning and will blow your socks off. This isn't it. You can pretty much tell what's going to happen as soon as you start the book. But if you are looking for something light hearted and seems pretty genuine at just simply telling a good story. You should pick this up.

I had to stop

If you write about horses, make sure you know how to correctly spell the words you use. ‘Reins’ control a horse; ‘reigns’ is what a king or queen does.

This was on top of wish-fulfillment powers and a medieval fantasy world that has toothbrushes at their general store. She can basically do *anything* so long as she really wants to do it.
She doesn’t want to kill, then when she sees goblins being evil...she melts their brains. Oh, but she gets sick later so it’s okay.

All of the details in the story were poorly imagined or explained.

Editing errors were cropping up. Spelling words correctly, especially homonyms, is not optional.

I do not recommend this novel.

Everything that's wrong with "romance"

There was no world building, just an info dump. There was no character development, just shallow emotions and reckless behaviour. There was no real relationship, just "Hey, you're cute and I've had 2 days of conversion with you, we should be lovers" followed by "I've known you a week, I'm in love with you".... interspersed with comments about how they know the other is (insert sappy adjective here) even though there is nothing in the story to support the claims. Add to that the grammar issues and clear lack of editing and you have a horrid waste of time and money.

Concept is good, execution was weak; author noted problems with writing this one and I think it shows. Other reviews have noted the annoyingly prevalent "romance" elements, and this was my biggest problem with it too. I'll still give the next book a chance as this has potential, but if it's not stronger than this one I won't carry on with the series.

I really liked the idea behind the story and the actual story wasn’t bad, a sort of ‘old school’ Fantasy with a twist. However, the whole lust/romance thing with Katrina and Gerard was just nauseating and spoilt what might have been an interesting fantasy novel.

Okay

Pretty simplistic, like a children's book with adult content. Needs editing. Misuse of prepositions, etc. Would probably read the sequel.

Magic that isn't magic

Eighteen years old daughter to super villian's hates dissapointing her parents but has a crush on a superhero's son. She intervenes in a plot by her mother to destroy the superhero, and gets caught up in the trap meant for him. Now she can't come home and must make the best of her new situation. Which may not be all bad for her.

So a lot of you I'm sure have read alot of DL's books which means you are familiar with the form of material that is creatively composed in his imaginative mind. Well this series has ultimately taxed my imagination a bunch! Having shared that with you all; I have to say it has been a ton of fun reading it. My hope is that you all have the same experience as well😍❗

Light easy read

Interesting combo of superhero and fantasy. A little simplistic and weak with the world building but I liked the characters. Similar to Schooled in Magic. Looking forward to the next book. No cliffhanger thankfully

Compelling concept

Good fun having a super in a medieval fantasy but it lacked any form of jepody for the main character who has seamed op right from the out set. Thousand year old villains banished in less than 3 pages didn't even bother to give them a name.

Decent book. It Has some flaws and is a bit basic.

Minor spoilers:

There was rarely any tension in battles and the relationship did not feel real enough.

The story started rather well but later on it was somewhat lacking.

Really good series. Unique concept. Fun read. However price conscious should beware. All the 'books' in this series are $2.99 but they are not really books - they are novella's or short stories of less than 150 pages each.

Mary Sue in a world of Swords and Socery

Sigh. I'd hoped for better. Katrina arrived in a world of magic and her own mental powers remain. The plot would have been much better if she'd lost her powers and had to regain them piece by piece. Slowly.

A fun quick read

This was a fun read. It's a bit on the short side,at least from my perspective. Still, it was a fun read, and I'm really looking forward to the next in the series.

Highly recommended.

Wow

Can't wait to see what happens next. A superhero in the dark ages is very fast paced with the novice of a newborn thrown in. Thank you so much

Interesting

This is a very different take on superheroes and fantasy all meshed together. I enjoyed reading this story and I can't wait to read more.

Collision of two genres

Fun, short story of superpowers meeting a magical realm. The heroine seems a bit overpowered to start and aside from needing to eat more, has no real handicaps. The storyline was good, but could have been fleshed out more. Still, was a fun read and I'll be looking forward to the next book in the series.
