“I understand now, Adley. There’s nothing in the world more beautiful than this. I would trade every last trace of my soul to feel this close to you.”
What happens after you’ve sacrificed everything for love?
Most people would consider a falling piano bad luck. For Adley Buckner it’s a near-death experience and a blessing in disguise. Death haunts Adley and holds a tight grip on his heart until time and fate places him in the piano’s path. One push saves a life. One push stops a life. One push defies fate and tangles the threads of time. One push and Adley falls for a beautiful, mysterious stranger.
Author of the popular Nannies of New York and Boys of Lake Cliff book series, K Sterling has self-published dozens of books. K. is known for fast-paced romantic thrillers and touching gay romcoms. There might be goosebumps and some gore but there’s always true love and lots of laughter.
There are no words for how much I love this book but here we go anyway.
It’s a very brave entry in K Sterling’s catalogue, exploring and playing with a lot of conventions usually found in the genre. Some people might not approve, but I like that she’s tried something different, and if you actually pay attention it’s very clever and it really does work.
I like that Sterling chose the narrative route she did. She’s not one to churn out copypaste books, putting in a lot of effort to how she can constantly challenge herself in her writing.
This was a gamble and for me it paid off. If people are so insanely mad at the ending it’s only a testament to how the rest of the book is written. Yet another book filled with engaging characters you can’t help fall in love with through Sterling’s trademark snappy prose and dialogue. It’s funny, it’s sad, it’s beautiful. It’s brilliant.
When I finished Lost In You, I went outside to play with my pup. My hubby looked up, saw I was crying and asked me if I was OK. I laughed and asked him to ignore me until I could pull myself together. Well, suffice it to say, when I stop and think about this book, I tear up all over again. It is just a beautiful, touching story.
As for Ms. Sterling? How could you do this to me, you bitch!! lol Sorry. I mean that in the best possible context. She's always been an auto-buy, and will always retain such a status.
A total departure, but so good! Ms. Sterling, thanks for totally blowing my mind. And for the first time, making me tear up (even though it was in a good way, I think). An unusual story, but lovely.
I'm shelving this at the moment. I went into this with the mind frame it would be like her others but this is very different. I need to clear my mind before I can read this and give it the attention it deserves.
So far the reviews are mixed. I'm hoping to love this like the rest.
