Former CIA officer Michael R. Davidson and dissident Russian journalist Kseniya Kirillova return with the sequel to their previous novel "In the Shadow of Mordor." The most powerful men in Russia prepare a bold plan to replace their president and deceive a new American Administration. A GRU General loses his daughter in America and makes a desperate bid to find her. A Ukrainian intelligence officer faces down Russian invaders. This is a tale ripped from today's headlines that brings the reader face to face with realities in Russia and Ukraine today.

Author team Davidson from the USA and Kirillova from Russia have once again created a dynamic and exciting novel exploring the efforts of the modern Russian government to undermine democracy in both the USA and Russia itself. The characters are well-developed with a range of outlooks, and action and romance will keep any reader entertained throughout. Of course this novel is timely because of hints that similar things are really happening in the world today. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves spy thrillers, and particularly to readers intrigued by the nature of the current Russian government and evidence of collusion with the current US government.
