A ragtag group of travelers - left for dead on the sinking ship while the rich gentry escape on the only life boats - manage to pull together a last minute floating contraption that saves them from certain death, but throws them into the unknown waters just off the coastline. very good short story
Constance is on a sinking ship and is led to the captain’s tender by Jimmy, Sunrise Jolly of the traveling circus show’s faithful shadow.
They save several people from the sunken ship before their little boat is struck by lightening. Their survival will be determined by the sea goddess that Constance woke.
