Is it possible to fall in love from nothing more than a few phone calls and e-mails? Dr. David 'Bear' Berickza thinks so. Despite the distance and limited contact, Bear can only think about Travis Michaels, a fellow veterinarian in the small town of Timber Creek.

When he hears that Timber Creek is directly in the path of Hurricane Lauris, Bear makes a promise. He will be there to help Travis and his daughter, the smart-mouthed Tina, to save the abandoned animals.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions, and when Lauris hits, Bear and Travis find that despite their best efforts, it's going to take more than that to save any lives, including their own.

Bear and Travis are both veterinarians who have been communicating via email and phone for several months. Travis works in the country, where people have abandoned their pets in the midst of hurricane panic. He and his adopted teenage daughter, Tina, are doing everything they can to save the scared cats and dogs, but it's not enough. When Bear arrives to help, Travis finally feels like he can let go.

This novella was the harshest in its description of the hurricane and its aftermath of the three in this series thus far. Despite Bear and Travis's best efforts, many of the animals die. It's not graphic, but it's worthy of a tears-and-heartbreak tag. I certainly got teary eyed.

I liked Tina and her sassiness. She struck me as a strong and sensitive kid who really wanted the best for her dad, yet she was still a real teenager with mood swings and a rebellious streak.

I liked what I saw of Travis and Bear's interactions (Bear was a big, burly ginger who fit his name, and Travis just wanted someone to take charge for once), but there was little relationship development on page. We don't see the emails or hear the phone calls between the men, so when they finally meet IRL the falling in love feels instant. Also, I get sacrifice, but Travis hadn't had sex for 14 years?

There was a quick summary in the epilogue about their life after the hurricane, and the ending was a cute HEA. Overall, this was a quick, sweet read.

Even if Parker Williams weren't a dear friend, I still would've wanted to read 'Bear & Travis' in the 'Storming Love: One Storm, Twelve Men' series. Why? Well, it involves animals, which I'm a huge sucker for, plus I just like this guy's writing. So, the thought of two veterinarians battling out a hurricane and fighting to save as many animals as possible, sucked me right in.

Even though Travis told Bear there was no way he'd be able to get through, to come and help them, Bear is determined. He may only know Travis through phone calls and emails, but he really likes what he knows. Probably too much, but he can't help himself. There's just something about Travis. Bear makes it, just barely, pun intended, and finds the situation even worse than he thought.

Uhm, I think all the stars would be given for the teenage daughter (who got sass!) and how reading about animals who died in the hurricane just broke my heart into tiny little pieces. I couldn't imagine the heartbreak if I was a veterinarian myself and had to face such situation.

As for the romance itself, it was just okay. It had the instant-love vibe considering that Travis and Bear only saw each other for a couple of days during the hurricane and already there was a word of "I love you's" and well, Travis (and Tina) moving to Bear's house.

While Travis and Bear was said to have communication before, with emails and such, but it was never shown. So for me everything just too bloody fast for my satisfaction. I know instant love happens in real life, I just don't like them in my story *shrugs*

Another sweet little story in this series although it has some harsh elements with the two vets being unable to save all the animals.
I liked Bear and Travis but Tina was my favourite, a real little spitfire and quite sassy.
The love between the two main characters felt a bit instant but mostly because there'd not been a lot of building it up, just a couple of throwaway lines that they'd being emailing and phone chatting for six months before.
The epilogue was lovely though.

Hurricanes are a part of life for people who live along the shore but a strong hurricane like Hurricane Lauris does not come along very often. Therefore, people who feel they are prepared for hurricane season may find themselves unexpectedly overwhelmed and battling odds they didn't anticipate. This is what happened to the people of Travis' small town and in their last minute efforts to escape they left defenseless pets behind to fend for themselves. Veterinarian Travis stays behind with his sweet, sassy daughter to try to care for as many animals as they can.
Bear is a veterinarian in a larger town that is not threatened by the hurricane so when his online friend sends out an SOS through social media and email he immediately answers the call for help.
Bear and Travis have exchanged enough emails and online communication that they know each other well and are attracted to one another before they even meet. Today this happens more often than people realize. When the storm threat passes Bear and Travis are left to survey the devastation of Travis' vet office and community so it only makes sense to pack up and go home with Bear. Even Travis' daughter encourages the duo to build a life together. This isn't exactly insta-love, but because of the short story length we weren't privy to their previous communication so the reader doesn't have the backstory to their attraction. Mr. Williams gave us enough of an insight to the MCs' personalities that we can draw the conclusion that they find in each other a good match. Bear & Travis is a good story and part of an interesting concept of 6 authors writing 6 different stories about 1 hurricane, put together by editor Kris Jacen. I appreciated seeing the individual experiences these characters suffered, and especially liked Bear & Travis.

A Joyfully Jay review.

4.25 stars

I adored Bear from the start. He’s a gentle soul who made a connection with Travis over the phone and fell in love with him during their weekly calls. They never talked about their relationship, per se, but they formed a deep connection. This premise is the reason why I wanted to read this book, and it mostly hit the mark for me. I would have liked to see just a bit more of their connection before they finally met in person, but I thought it worked really well. And it’s clear right from the start that Bear just adores Travis. I loved his determination to get to Travis and do whatever he could to help and protect the man.

Travis had his own endearing qualities, and though I’m not always a fan of kids in my stories, his daughter was one of the reasons I liked him so much. It’s obvious from the start that Travis has a huge heart. He’s out in the beginnings of the storm trying to save as many animals as he can before the worst hits. Tina is right there with him and she takes care of her father in a way that is inspiring. Knowing that Travis raised her to be this strong person is just great to see. I loved their relationship. I loved the way they looked out for one another. Travis is a truly good man, and he deserved someone equally as good. Which is why Bear is the perfect man for him.

I only read the first book, this one, and the last book because of recommendation.

Anyway, this one really had the storm. Like being the third book feels like the right place where the storm should hit hard because it's the middle book. Anyway, I really like the story. It's cute. It's kinda fast too.

I really like Bear and Travis as people. Travis' daughter is really cool too. It was really sweet and all the interactions were really great.

It didn't have time for their relationship to be decorated prettily but it was okay. I think they already built their dating through the emails and phone calls (even if it wasn't really like that).

I also like the time skip.

I received my copy from the publisher through Love Romances and More and rated it 3.5 stars.

This is the third book in a series but as far as I can tell the only thing linking them is the storm. As a result, the stories can be read as stand-alones and out of order. And that is just as well since this was my first book by Parker Williams.

This was a story of contrasts, and rather stark contrasts at that. On the one hand there was the love story between Bear and Travis and as love stories go it was sweet, uncomplicated and charming. The two men have, unbeknownst to each other, developed feelings for the man they only know through phone calls and emails. When Bear finds out Travis is about to face a horrific hurricane with only his teenage daughter to support him, he doesn’t think twice and drives to the rescue. When the two men are together it becomes clear to them the attraction is mutual and as soon as the devastating storm has passed they act on it. Yes, their relationship moves very fast once they get together. But considering the fact they’d been communicating for months and the extremes of the circumstances under which the meet I did not have any difficulty accepting the speed with which they moved. In fact I found it all kinda cute and heart-warming.

On the other extreme there’s the animal rescue thread to this story. This one I found rather hard to read. The idea that people would abandon their pets in the face of disaster is foreign to me and fills me with anger and sadness, just as it does Bear and especially Travis. The level of realism in this book in regard to the animals that could and could not be saved was devastating, especially because I know it has to reflect how things work in the real world. It does mean that this book should come with a warning. I know a lot of readers have great difficulty reading books in which animals come to harm. If you are such a reader you may want to stay away from this particular story.

Tina, Travis’s daughter was beautiful ray of sunshine and delight in this story. Her love for her father as well as her determination to see him happy combined with her smart mouth and teenage attitude put a huge grin on my face on several occasions.

Overall I enjoyed this book. Yes I had a hard time reading about the animals but enjoyed my time with Bear, Travis and Tina. My only reservation about ‘Bear & Travis’ is that the author tried to squeeze an awful lot of very interesting story into relatively few pages. Having said that, he did manage to portrait all three characters in such a way that I felt I knew them and what made them tick by the time the story ended. I also really liked the smooth way in which this story was told and how easy it was for me to lose myself in the tale. Which, of course, means I will have to sample other titles by Parker Williams in the not too distant future.

Bear and Travis are both vets who haven’t yet met in person but have developed a great friendship online and over the phone. When there is a threat of hurricane near Travis, the first thought was to the animals who would be abandoned in the storm. Storms in general demand respect but a hurricane requires nothing less than your full diligence. But what do you do when you are the only vet in an area about to be devastated? That’s the dilemma facing Travis (and his daughter, Tina) when Lauris hits.
As a dedicated animal lover, I completely understood why Travis wanted to save them all and yet I appreciated that the author doesn’t sugar coat the horror that hurricanes bring about. As a veterinarian he believes himself even more responsible for the care but it is a sad fact that they can’t all be saved. They did everything they could and I loved that he instilled that responsibility to animals in his daughter.
Bear has come to care for the man he hasn’t yet met and wants Travis and Tina, as well as as many animals as possible, to be safe through the storm. So he heads their way, not above pulling a little subterfuge to gain access to the area. The three of them try to make plans to save the animals but the storm is not to be denied. I’ll admit, I loved that while Travis is a great animal surgeon but can’t stand the sight of his own (or Tina’s) blood. Again, this is no superhero and everything is awesome story. It’s more the three of them trying their best to battle the storm.
Shout out to Mr. Williams for making them vegheads, by the way! And I really, really need a decompression room like they have. I liked this story for its realistic portrayal of an overwhelming natural event and for the lack of sugar coating. Tina is a strong 14-year-old (although really, I wish they had waited for sex until she wasn’t present) and the fact that she “worshipped the ground Travis stumbled over” made her even more likeable. As for Bear and Travis, I liked that they were friends first and knew enough to realize, life is unpredictable. You need to go for it.

A month or so ago on Facebook one of the authors that I follow asked the question – What are the rules of writing m/m romance? (or something along those lines). Of course there was all the usual responses of no cheating, must have HEA, no vaginas please, and well, the list was a very long one. For every “rule” someone suggested there were arguments for and against, apparently not even a happy ending is required for some readers. But the one thing nobody on that conversation thread argued over, the only “rule” that everyone agreed on was – don’t kill the pets! Mr Williams, you killed the pets!!!

This is the third book in the One Storm –Twelve men collection. Each book stands alone.
Travis and his daughter Tina have stayed behind to see how many animals they can save. Travis wishes Tina would have left but she refuses and is hard-headed like her mom.

Bear has been texting emailing and talking to Travis for a while and has strong feelings for him though they never met. He even thinks he is straight since he has a daughter. when he finds out that Travis and Tina are staying alone in the storm and it’s going to be bad he goes to help them.

I absolutely loved this book. It’s so well written and though it’s a sweet romance there is lots of nail-biting suspense. I loved how the story unfolded and flowed smoothly. I loved the snarky teen Tina, Bear and Travis. I found nothing here not to love… so if you like stories with suspense, romance, animals fightin storms and some sensual hot mansex this is for you.

Pacing was good on this one. And unlike the previous two before, Hurricane Lauris's role was more prominent in this story, weaving into the story like an omnipresent character, as I would expect when I started picking up this series. Quite amazed also by the fact that despite this being a short story, I was made to know the characters' personalities, more so than the previous two.

I have a feeling this book might just be my most favorite one of this series.

DNF Glad I didn't start with this one as I probably wouldn't have read any of the others. Didn't get beyond the first few pages as I couldn't understand how any parent would allow their child to remain in the path of a category 4 hurricane no matter how much they wanted to care for abandoned animals.
