This book was an okay read , for me . Although I didn't particularly care for the generous , " paragraphs " , I enjoyed the story . Charlize Staunton, is a Boss. Her family are prominent leaders of DC society , movers and shakers in a lot of black owned businesses. One of the only markets that they do not have their touch on , is in the , " hospitality " area. Enter Darryl Wynn.
Darryl is an ex football 🏈🏈 player , who opened up a bar after unexpectedly retiring. It is doing well, but could always do better. An unexpected meeting between these two leads them into doing business together.
This was an easy read. Got through it in a few hours. There was sexy times , but no romance. Perhaps that is what it is lacking for me...... But , all in all, a good story.
Charliese is a business woman who is savvy and smart. She knows how to make business work. Daryl is an ex football player with a dream and a wife. He sees success but just doesn't have the capital to fulfill his dreams. The two meet, Daryl has a business agenda. Charliese sees a fine man. There are sparks but Daryl is trying to be honorable. However a spiteful wife and gigolo from her past push Daryl and Charliese. This was a great read and beginning of a hot series..
This book was an easy read. It made you want to keep reading to see what was going to happened next with Charise and Darryl. I liked the ending... I can’t wait to read part 2.
I attempted to read the entire book but found myself skipping until I ended up at the second to last chapter. Although they were good, they didn't push me to want to know more.
I could not finish reading the book, it has too much slang in it and there is too much of I this and I that, and the Stanton's this it makes it sounds as though the book revolves around her and the family.
I feel like there was too much emphasis on Charlise’s family in the beginning. The development between the love interests seems purely based on lust. I kinda wished Charlise was better at playing hard to get.
I’m sad her heart is broken, but at the same time I wish she would have avoided the involvement altogether. In life we have all made choices that had serious consequences.
I choose this rating for the simple fact that it was a great story line and I truly loved the fact that I could not stop reading. Patiently waiting on the Sequel.
