Vampire Princess #1

Vampire Princess

Rate this book
I’m the first Vampire human hybrid. Someday I will reclaim my father's throne. Until then, I’m stuck in freaking high school.

No one knows I survived the attack on my royal family all those years ago. I owe my life to my guardians, two ancient Vampires who would give their lives to protect me.

I might have unspeakable powers of night, but right now? I need to pass AP calc, make a couple of friends, and try not to drink the sweet, young blood of my classmates. Being in hiding means pretending I’m a nice, normal, human teenage girl, and that’s the hardest part. I couldn’t be less interested in football games and prom dates.

Enter Dylan.

Dylan’s got gorgeous blue eyes, the body of an underwear model, and a laugh that turns my insides to mushy goo. He makes me want to be normal, to stick around this town for longer than a few months.

The craziest part? Dylan means that staying hidden is the last thing I want to do. He makes me want to go to prom. Prom!

So here I am, teenage Vampire Princess and cheerleader, pompoms and all. Trying not to drink my boyfriend like a juice box. Young love is complicated, amirate?

Vampire Princess, The Kingdom of night book 1 by Cameron Drake is a new series by a new author.
Princess Sasha has been on the run since she was a small child. She is half human, half vampire. She is the daughter of the King; the King has been taken prisoner by the new leaders who don't like the rules he makes so to protect the princess his two most trusted advisors spirited the young princess away to keep her safe until she can return safely home and her father can resume his leadership, with Sasha by his side.
In a new town Sasha has to act like a normal teenager , go to school under a fake name and act 100 % human but its hard for Sasha to do this because she really isn’t all human. Its here she makes her first friend named Dylan who is the school’s star football player. But thing is, Sasha wants to drink his blood and her powers are heightened when around him so that’s when her guardians want her out of town but she refuses to leave but is this her downfall? There are other twists and turns in this new series by Ms. Drake that kept me reading. The story ends in a cliffhanger with a set up for book 2. I did like this YA paranormal read that had me wanting to see Sasha/Sophie achieve some happiness but since this is a new start, that is some time off .. Hopefully in book 2, some answers like who exactly is after her, will she get to find out why she is being sought after and what they want to do with her—hopefully these answers will be coming and she will get some happiness in the next book.

My rating: 4.0 stars ****

Damn this book was good! I really enjoyed this. I liked Sophie/Sasha. I liked Bernard and Caleb. I sort of liked Dylan and Maxim. The story was good and interesting and fun.
Now tell me book 2 is coming out soon or I might go crazy. I need to read more. And the little taste of book 2 at the end was really a tease!

A teenage vampire who is a vampire princess. She has two guardian uncles who looks after her and teach her skills to be a good princess. She attends a human college and fall in love with a human boy . Every time she is around him she gets thirsty for his blood but she loves him. Then there's another guy who is a vampire and well suitable for her according to her guardians. She is attracted to both of them.

The plot is nice. I liked it. But the execution is not addictive. I read lots of other books while reading this one. The heroine was irritating. I may read the other book to know what happens further.

Oh my GOODNESS!!!

Talk about an amazing book!!!!!!! These characters are awesome, plot is awesome, everything is awesome! I only put this book down to adult, and then it was back in my hands again. Sasha has a huge dilemma on her hand, not only with her fate but her very new love life. My heart struggled through a lot of this book, but I loved it so much! I'm going to be waiting impatiently for the next book!!!

This book had a great premise. I did enjoy the writing, however part of me thinks that the plot of this story could be overused.

Imagine that you will become one of the most powerful beings to walk the earth, able to control the elements, levitate and feel others' emotions. Then imagine that you're stuck hiding in high school. Sophie/Sasha is the heir to the Vampire Crown. When her father, the Vampire King fell in love with a human and they had Sasha, many vampires were unhappy about the blending of humans and vampires. The King also instituted a policy where humans could still be used for food, but they must be cared for and left alive and healthy. Many in the vampire world would rather dominate the humans and treat them like cattle. Some of these vampires overthrow and imprison the king, so Sasha is taken into hiding until she grows to adulthood and can take over the kingdom.

When Sasha arrives in Green Rock, she makes her first friend ever in Karen. Then she meets the super-attractive Dylan and he becomes her first boyfriend. Things are definitely looking up for her and high school no longer seems like such a drag. While she begins to enjoy being a (somewhat) normal teenager, Sophie/Sasha must still train to control her powers and prepare to stage a rescue mission to release her father. How's a girl to manage it all?

I loved Sasha's irreverent and sarcastic take on the world. I even laughed out loud a few times about Sophie's view of events. She is becoming a strong-willed and independent young woman, with a mind of her own and the power to stand on her own two feet.

This young adult novel had a fairly complex plot, well developed lead characters, each with their own refreshing voice and royal vampire intrigue. YA readers who enjoyed Twilight will like this book. Sophie does have a bit more of a sarcastic edge, however.

The Vampire Princess is a different story from many of the other vampire books I have read over the years. She was born a vampire hybrid since her father was a vampire and her mother was human or was she full human.
princess is in hiding due to her father's rule being taken over. The princess is attending another local high school to try and fit in as a normal human and ends up meeting a guy name, Dylan on her first day at school. She doesn't understand why she has a different feeling for him that she has never felt before. They end up as boyfriend and girlfriend until the guys who are protecting her learn that she can't use her powers on him to forget who she is. Her guardians learn that he is of magical decent as they are the only ones that can't be forced to forget stuff. Upon learning this she has to end her relationship with him and the only way to do this is to tell him that she will be going to prom with her friend another vampire.
If you love vampire books this is a great one to get hooked on. I listed to the audiobook and will be buying the e-book to add to my collections of books.

This was a cute read.

The daughter of the vampire king that was overthrown is out in the world of humans with her guardians. They are hiding from those who over threw her dad waiting for Sasha/Sophie to become an adult.

Now they are in Green Rock and for the first time Sasha has made an actual friend, Karen. She has also caught the attention of Dylan, the most beautiful boy in school. What makes it even better is that this boy likes her without any magic. She hasn't glamoured him in the least bit. So now she not only has her very first friend, who is not her protector, but she also has her first boyfriend.

I picked this book because it's been a while since I read a vampire book. I was not disappointed, it was well worth the read. Sasha is a wonderful girl. She is strong-willed and independent. She has a wonderful take on the world with a nice teenage twist mixed with vampire sarcasm. She's growing into a very wonderful young woman.

This is a great read for all those who liked Twilight.

I absolutely love paranormal books. Make them have some vamps and I'm completely hooked.
Sophie, the vampire princess, is trying to fit into the normal world and into high school. When she falls in love with the hottest guy in school, Dylan.
She befriends Dylan and his cousin, Karen. Trying to live a normal life.
I love how this story smoothly transitions with the everyday life of a teenager to a vampire princess training to take over the kingdom they have had to flee from. Everyone in their past thinks Sophie's life had ended when the kingdom was overtaken and her father, the King, had been held captive.
This first book in the series keeps you locked into the pages. The story is great. The characters are amazing.
Truly a great book for any paranormal romance reader

The start of an exciting new series. A vampire romance perfect for the YA reader and anyone who loves teenagers in love. Sophie/Sasha is a vampire princess in hiding for twelve years since she was five when her father the king was overthrown and imprisoned. She has been training with her guardians for the day she and her allies will take back her throne. She would like to live a normal teen life with her human boyfriend Dylan, be a cheerleader, have fun times with her friends and go to prom. But it's not easy when you are being hunted by your own kind. Oh yes and Sophie has awesome powers she is still learning to control. Poor little sweetheart is in for some heartache when trouble comes calling. I am so enjoying this book!

I am going with 3 stars on this but wish I could do 3.5 because it has potential. I had a hard time liking the Princess. She was bratty, naive, egotistical and ungrateful to her guardians who have basically given up their own lives for her. Her relationship with Dylan did not develop naturally, it was more insta-love so it was hard for me to like them as a couple. In my opinion the focus should have been more on her training, developing her powers which are new and different than anyone else and saving her dad but the relationship overshadowed everything else in this story. This book ended on a cliffhanger. It felt rushed and just ended. I would try Book 2 in hopes that rescuing dad becomes the focus

Sasha is a princess on the run and in hiding with her two bodyguards who are trusted by her father, the king. Coming to this new town as a teenager meant she had to blend in and not reveal herself.

Too bad there are some weird things in this town. Including Dylan the boy she is falling deep for, who may or may not be something more then human and his cousin could be too.. Plus Sasha is growing stronger and adding more to her abilities that never have been recorded.

So much going on, but sadly she cannot chose love....and certainly cannot chose Dylan.

This book does end at a bit of a cliffhanger hoping book two answers all my questions.

I really freaking loved this book! Sasha is on the run with her two guardians. If being a teenager and high school isn’t hard enough try being a vampire human hybrid princess. After nameless amounts of towns and schools, something was different when she got to her new high school in yet another town. She met Dylan who with his bright blue eyes is something from a dream, only there is something different about him. With the weight of her future on her shoulders, you know save her dad and run a kingdom, she longs to be a normal human teenager. So so makes friends for the first time, picks up pom poms, and even prepares for prom! I will most certainly be hunting down book two, and devouring it as fast as this one.

Interesting story... but left hanging

hmm, mixed feelings here. it was really interesting at the beginning. I hate love-triangles, for sure a YA since they all seem to be love-triangles. The heroine is unique though in the genre, in that she is extremely confident in herself. Most heroines are clumsy, and have tons of self doubt and angst and can't really see what the guy finds so great about her, etc. Not this one. She's great, and she knows it. She is super impressed with herself. Sure she's impressive, but this girl certainly has the ego of a queen, even if she isn't one yet.

Love-triangle aside, is it worth reading the next one? I'd say yes.

I'm not gonna lie I was a little hesitant to read this series because it was about a high school girl, and I was worried that she was going to be immature and annoying. I thought it would be like a lot of other YA supernatural books, where the main character is so "different" and thinks everything is lame.

But oh I am so glad I gave this book a chance anyway!! I am hooked on this new series and I can't wait for the next book! Sasha actually enjoys high school, prom, and even cheerleading! Loved her humor and how she recognized that boys aren't everything (cause you know war and stuff is a little more important sometimes). Well done, Cameron Drake. Please, continue to give us more!

This is my 1st read and review for this author and what a fantastic story. Sasha is a born vampire and half human she is 17 years old and is going through high school, Sasha’s family was attacked and she was spirited away to the human world and everyone thought that she was dead. At school she meets Dylan a boy who she really likes she can’t glamour him it doesn’t work, suddenly her powers have supercharged and she has an insatiable hunger for blood she wants to drain her class Mates but she’s going to hold back. Sasha needs to practice using her powers she meets a rogue vampire Maxim who teaches her how to use her powers and be a proper vampire.

No depth

I almost made it to the end of the book but I just couldn't. Their was no depth to the characters or the story. I stop reading towards the end when she went to meet her boyfriend's parents because the author stop making sense. I couldn't understand how the friend Karen thought herself a witch but was a faerie and right away knew the main character was a vampire. Karen looked at the main character with cold eyes and then is willing to talk it out and still be friends. It was too much at that point and I couldn't finish it.

I will freely admit that the publisher’s blurb description of Cameron Drake Vampire Princess is was enticed me to download it.

“I’m the first Vampire human hybrid. Someday I will reclaim my father's throne. Until then, I’m stuck in freaking high school.”

Yup. How could I possibly not find that appealing? Luckily the actual book was even better than the blurb. I loved Sasha, Dylan, Maxim and all the characters here. Loved the plot and the world building. I’m really glad that blurb caught my eye - and happily recommend the book.

I received an ARC of this story through Hidden Gems and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Sasha is a half-breed vampire princess in hiding until she ends up in a new school with a best friend and boyfriend she can't glamour for some reason. What she is is now at threat of being exposed and the vampires behind the violent overthrow of her father's reign seem to be closing in on her now. This isn't just another teenage vampire romance and I found myself drawn from one page to the next. Once I reached the end I immediately had to grab the next book in the series!

Soph is a hybrid - Vampire King Dad, and a human mother. She is the Princess whose destiny it is to rescue her father and re-claim the throne of the Kingdom of the Night. But in the meantime, she has to go to a normal high school, and learn everything that human teens learn, and go through things that 'normal' teens go through - including falling in love with Dylan. But all is not as it seems, and she feels the pain of heartbreak. An intriguing story which I thoroughly enjoyed.

This book was different than I expected in a good way. I thought it was original and well written ! Sasha the main character was exactly what u would expect of an awkward teenager complete with mood swings and cravings except her cravings are of. Different variety. I really enjoyed this book. It had plenty of complex relationships which I enjoyed. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this trilogy!

Although I do hate cliffhangers and it didn't make sense for them to just stay put for the whole school year, this was a terrific book full of wonderful characters, and I can't wait to read the rest of the story. Trust, friendship, dedication, self-control, temptation, belonging, determination, and hope are some of the undercurrents in this tale about Sasha and her quest to save her father and the world and perhaps a few friendships along the way.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

I couldn’t put it down, had to keep reading!
So good.
No pretenses about being a vicious killer with a lot of other abilities.
It was actually funny to read about normal things at school and her ‘hunger for blood’ thoughts during these interactions.

Don’t read the teaser from the next book or you’ll end with a cliffhanger, just like me.
Of course now I’m hungry for book 2.

I received a book through Hidden Gems and this is my honest and voluntary review.
