I'm really trying to find the appropriate words on how to write this review. This story was so realistic that I could vividly picture Ian, Devan, Sarah, Mac and all the kiddies. I'm also guessing it was much real to me because my when my MIL was in the hospital getting treatments for her cancer I would see the kids and adults fighting that same disease through the hallways.

There is a reason why Devan has always avoided getting close to anyone especially not knowing when her last moment will be but Ian sure makes it hard for her to keep that same thought of reasoning with him.

Ian's love not only for his job but his patients is what draws Devan's attention and the fact that he's tall, sexy and smart doesn't hurt either.

At times it felt like they were both playing ping pong with each other's emotions and there was no way to keep up with who was winning,

Even though this dealt with such a sensitive matter it helped bring out awareness and a lighter side to it especially with the children. There are a couple of things that helped connect the dots when it came to Ian and Devan that had me smiling and swooning,

Be advise that this is a book with sensitive matters, yet it's gives you hope that things will and have to be okay in the end. It also had me crying as I read this because it helped me to remember the happy and hopeful times with my MIL. -Kara, 4 Emotional Stars

My Rating:

3.5

Favorite Quotes:

I felt out of place when the yellow vested valet smirked at my car and held my keys like they could infect him with being poor. F*ing pauper cooties.

Had I been dying, I would have cut your balls off and fed them to you. Prison doesn’t look so bad when you have no time left. Remember that.

We have come here to join Doctor Ian and Miss Devan in holy mattress-money… If anyone here thinks that Miss Devan and Dr. Ian don’t need to be married step forward now so Lydia and I can run over your toes with our wheelchairs, and pop you with marshmallows from our rubber band guns… I was granted the power of being ordinary by the internet and my mom’s credit card so what I say rings true. My judgment is that these two are husband and wife till they get wrinkly, slow, and their teeth fall out.

I think we could benefit from the ticket sales soaring if there was a cat fight… I bet she is a hair puller… She won’t punch because she might break a nail.

My Review:

I struggled with this book and am struggling with this review as well as with forming a coherent conclusion on a rating. I enjoyed a great deal of All I Ask, although it went off the rails a little over half way through. The premise was sound, the characters were unusual, and there was an intriguing mystery beneath the surface. There were also many delightful scenes of stellar humor, a blossoming and transformative romance that brought the main characters to life, steamy sensual scenes, and heart squeezing exchanges. However, the storyline veered off track and became mired in Devon’s dismal angst, over the top melodrama, and tiresome obstinance. I would easily have rated the first half of the book four stars, although the mid to ninety percent of the book were a disappointing two to three.

In All I Ask, Elizabeth York pieced together a novel about a tough subject, but managed to walk the line to keep it less heart wrenching, without disrespecting the matter. As someone whose family has been touched by childhood cancer, that really meant a lot to this reader.

Devan hasn't had it easy in life. She's fun and strong, but more jaded than most. Now a photographer, she teams up with a local pediatric oncologist to help raise money for children suffering from cancer. Ian, wants to prevent suffering. He's the fun doctor, who everyone wishes they had as a kid.

I really enjoyed All I Want. The characters are interesting, multifaceted, unexpected and endearing. The storyline can be hard at times, but the humor, angst, mystery, and explosive chemistry between Devan and Ian keep the reader reeled in. The pacing felt a bit choppy because there was a lot going on. It could feel a bit busy at times. I would recommend this to the reader looking for a book that has a very wide range of emotion, and characters that stick with you when the ride is over.

I gave this book 4 stars!

From reading the synopsis I was very interested in how this story would go and let me tell you it didn't disappoint. I was thinking these two were going to fall in love, live happy ever after, but what you get is twist, turns, the OMG moments. You will question your self several times about how this story is going to go. I found myself reading more and more because I had to know what was going to happen. The emotions I felt not only for Devan, Ian, Sarah and Mac but for all those kids that they take care of. You will have a roller coaster of emotions...be forewarned that you will want to jump on the page and try to do everything in your powers to help Devan and Ian.

Devan is a photographer, who childhood wasn't like ours. All her childhood, she was in and out of hospitals because she had Cancer. Now as adult, she is pursuing her dreams of photographing other kids and start a charity to help families like hers. When she meets Dr. Ian Jensen she wants nothing but a professional relationship with him. Yes, He is hot and she would love nothing more that to jump his bones. But Devan knows that the cancer can come back and she doesn't want to be a burden to anyone, the Charity is her legacy.

Ian is a pediatric oncologist, who loves kids...hell he is one BIG kid himself. He loves to have nerf fights, read stories and really interacts with the kids. Ian, brother had cancer as a child and didn't make it, so now Ian is help other kids give it a good fight. When he first meets Devan, he tells her that she can have 5 minutes on her knees!!! What he had seen coming is her getting on her knees for him to listen to her. After Devan, agrees to meet him the next night to talk business, and she walks away...he knows his life is about to change.

As Devan and Ian new charity and relationship is getting off the ground, a past comes back to bite both of them. Can these two hold on to each other or will the evil of people bring them to the end?

I'm so glad that I took on this book and we got a different storyline that we haven't read a 1,000's times. Ms. York is a new author to me, but after reading this story I will be looking into more of her work.

I always get the chills when I start a new book and if that book is from a new author I can get a little nervous to. The thing that made get this chance was the blurb but sometimes that might not be enough because if I can't identify myself with the writing I might close the book and move on. But this wasn't the case at all.
Elizabeth York is a new author to me and I'm so happy for this chance.
She has a simple writing full of meaning and love. She managed to put her heart behind each word.
All I Ask explores the lifes of Devan and Ian. Devan is a photographer that had a ruff start in life. Because she spent her childhood fighting to get better she is used to keep people away from her heart and doing so she can't suffer when they leave her. She's stubborn as hell but behind that facade hides someone who cares. She needs to prove herself in order to be successful in her career so...
Ian is a Pediatric Oncologist that is used to see kids suffering but also seeing them win their battles. He's funny and his goal is to keep his patients happy to be able to forget their pains.
Their paths will cross but what will happen? Can they change? Can they find what they are looking for?
Beautiful, simply beautiful and intense.
There is always a feeling of happiness and empathy when there are kids involved and this book had managed to capture me completely.
The way the story progressed left me happy, sad and scared at the same time. The interaction between the characters were simply beautiful and the way they fight their battles left me speechless.
I'm in love, I'm happy, I'm sad and I'm overwhelmed at the same time.
And guess what? We have some pretty hot stuff into this mix.
Thank you Elizabeth for this amazing story. Thank you for the chance to meet these amazing and wonderful characters, their lifes and struggles.
And since I'm a greedy girl All I Ask is: What's next?

Devan Anderson is a photographer trying to make it in the world, not to mention, achieve her heart's greatest wish. Her childhood was filled with illness, which had her mother dropping her off with her father and leaving, then her father finally snapped from all the stress. Now she's going to finish what she's set out to do, and thankfully, her stubborn and protective nature will help her in her all important quest. But things don't go the way she planned them to go. Ian Jensen is a wonderful Pediatric Oncologist that lets nothing get in the way of being with his sick kids every step of the way. Which means that he has very little time for women, especially women who don't understand that the kids come first. He never saw Devan coming, and no matter what he throws at her, she doesn't back down. This is the story of a photographer who lives in the dark coming together with a doctor that lives in the light! When I saw the blurb to this story, I was intrigued, but I NEVER EVER would have guessed the journey that I just experienced in a million years. Elizabeth York is a diabolical genius that kept me on my toes, making any attempts to figure out things useless, while keeping my heart racing cover to cover. There would be times that I thought I knew what was coming, and even if I was close, there was always something so much more that came out of left field. So I spent a lot of this book dropping loud f-bombs, among other colorful metaphors. Twists and turns were around every corner is the gist of what I'm going on and on about. Perfectly placed humor in the package of a boy named Davey, kept me laughing as he was my favorite, and I don't say that lightly since I LOVED Devan and Ian to death. Anyway, I could go on all night, but I won't, so I'll just end with HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDING All I Ask to any and all who love to read!

One book. All I Ask is all it took for me to love this author.
I hadn't read her prior to this book but now that I know what I've been missing I'm hitting her backlist as soon as I can!

All I Ask is the story of a woman who's life has been mapped out for her based upon her childhood. A traumatic childhood made Devan take a much different view on life that most people. She's dedicating her life to trying to help sick kids and thinks that's all she needs to be fulfilled in life.
She's wrong.

Ian is a dedicated pediatric oncologist. He works with the most heartbreaking of illnesses. He has a reason for it, his childhood made him who he is as well but he went a different route than Devan. While he may spend most of his life inside the hospital he's also aware that he needs more in his life to be fulfilled.

These two, at times I wanted to slap some sense into Devan, she drove me nuts a few times. Luckily she got her head on straight. Ian was just about perfect, other than his little secret, but most of all he was solid. He sticks, when he gets something in his head he's patient and willing to work for it.
I loved their story and am absolutely going to look up more from this author.

Storyline, I give this book 4 stars. The story was really touching. You can’t say a book that focuses on children with cancer is not a good book. It touches you. You feel for those sweet babies. However, the rest of it wasn’t really there for me.

There were a lot of plot issues going on in this book. I don’t want to say anything to give it away, but the drama factor was really interesting. Some issues came up at the very beginning. In fact, Ian, the male protagonist, is really stressing out about some things when Devon, the female protagonist, stumbles into his life. And the issue is continuous and keeps building until the very end. That’s just one issue in the story, but not the main focus.

The beginning of Ian and Devan’s relationship was really confusing. We see Ian is jaded and he doesn’t trust Devan, yet he takes her out to dinner and hits on her. Then, all of sudden, it’s a month later and they have spent all their time together. Then it’s six months later and same thing, yet we never see their actual progression. They just go from being attracted yet unattainable and not wanting to be attained to basically dating, though Devan is adamant they are just friends. Despite that, I wanted to keep reading and see where the story was going.

There was so much going on, and you could feel it building and building, waiting for the bubble to pop. Devon’s reactions to those bubbles popping were all over the place. When I thought she would blow up and go into her shell, she didn’t. Though she did do that for other issues.

I was really confused for a lot of the story. Things were mentioned then never picked up again. For example, at one point, Ian sees Devon had an ultrasound and contacts someone to find out what is going on. That person says it’s not Devon’s, and then it’s not mention again. This happened a few times in the story. Most importantly, you find out something big from their past that is very important, but barely touched upon. I would have liked to see more of that. Then there was a character who started out as a total sweetheart, then became a nasty, jealous whore, just to being a total sweetheart again. I didn’t understand that character arc at all. She felt disjointed.

The whole point of the story was a charity for the pediatric oncology department, yet we know nothing about the charity. How did they pull it off? What was the idea? How did they raise money? What did Devon do to gain attention and raise funds? We know nothing except that she did, but apparently, Ian did most of it. How? Sorry, I can’t tell you.

4.5 stars on character development. They felt alive and real to me. All of them had a different personality and background that came together beautifully.

Devon was a complicated character. She didn’t “adult,” as her sister always said. She could be immature when she lashed out, but I thought it was justified and funny. She did have a bad habit of running away, which hurt a lot of people. I didn’t like that. However, it made sense for her character, because she couldn’t “adult.”

Meanwhile, Devon was huge on trust, yet was always lying by omission. His character was much more confusing. The guy was kind of a jerk when it came to dealing with grownups, yet he was a big kid, overprotective, and loving when it came to his patients. Really complicated character.

Editing … What editing? This book had some serious mistakes that can’t even be overlooked because the development was horrible. I can usually overlook grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors when it’s a good story, which it was, yet there were so many places that needed to be developed more while other things were delved into a little too much that wasn’t necessary. Not to mention, the POVs were out of order in the timeline. I spent a lot of time shaking my head at the mistakes, which took away from the story.

Nevertheless, I read the book in two sittings. It was entertaining, I became invested in the characters, and I liked the mystery unfolding throughout the book.

Emotions will be tested reading this; you go from happy to sad to your mouth hanging open and it continues throughout the book. Between the tears and laughter and the story itself, you will be quoting, “All I Ask” is for this to go to a happy land cause at times it was looking like sad land. The author has done it once again and gave us an awesome story with so much emotion, a sensitive topic and some added mystery to the story. There is not a book by this author that you do not fall in love with.
Devan has had a childhood no parent wants their children to have (well any sane parent at least) and she is a fighter, strong and artistic when it comes to her photography. While not everyone who reads, this will agree with her behavior, I totally get why she acted the way she did since she was isolated for so long and she really felt that getting close to someone would make it that much harder to let you go in the end. Jellybean you are just like the candy, you had many flavors going on and some you fell in love with and some where yucky and horrible just like moments in your life. The cause of your charity is very heartwarming and it makes you realize just how far someone’s money may or may not go when it comes to certain charities.
Ian, you have one of the toughest jobs to do and I am not certain I could handle this and that emotions that would come into play. You are not like most doctors and I kinda feel like there should be more doctors like you regardless of the cost incurred to put a smile on a child’s face. You had a childhood a little different than Devan; however, the coin mystery sees how close you two were really tied to each other prior to you both teaming up to create a charity that is for a great cause and memory as well. If this wasn’t fate, I don’t know what it was then.
Not only due we fall in love with Devan and Ian we fall for those kids in the story. OH my gosh, Davey, Daphne and Lydia you bring tears to our eyes and laughter. I love the sayings that come out of Davey’s mouth too and how protective they were of both Ian and Devan. My heart was beating when someone was brought into Devan’s life and I was hoping she made the right choice. Though your heart beats quite a few times when Ian’s thing (yes, thing) pops up and then the twisted suspense is exposed. That was crazy nuts and left your mouth hanging open. Sad, but worth it in the end. Finally, free (as free as you ever will get) when stuck with Devan’s illness. As you read the story you will see that Davey nailed it on the head when he said that Devan and Ian belonged in life, love, business and the hospital. I could not agree more.
Besides loving Devan, Ian and the kids you will enjoy reading about Sarah (Devan’s sister) and Mac. Be still your heart when you meet Mac, sad, but true in our society and I loved where this went with Sarah’s issues. I really hope that we get a story (full) one on Sarah, besides it allows us to see more of Devan and Ian too. This story shows you that darkness and light truly are meant to belong together.

All I Ask by Elizabeth York
“Hot doctor + shy photographer = chemistry off the charts, 4 stars”

Elizabeth York is a new to me author, going into All I Ask I had never read anything by her. Well I can confidently tell you I plan on changing that now. She wrote a real, beautiful, moving, book with struggle all throughout. The only complaint I have is that at one point it went a little too slow for me and I wanted to speed up the HEA. Other than that, I loved it.
Devan has never had an easy life. She was sick all throughout her childhood leaving her feeling jaded and wanting to keep people at arm’s length away. Her philosophy no matter how skewed is that if you don’t let anyone in then no one can hurt when you die and vice versa. Devan is an aspiring photographer whose work is phenomenal and wants to give back. She wants to raise money to help kids who were like her. Help ease the burden for the families financially if she can. In those regards Devan is aspiring, there needs to be more people like her and Ian when he comes into the picture.
Ian is a pediatric doctor; his life’s mission is to make those sick kids better that way no family has to go through what his did when his brother died of childhood cancer. When he meets Devan, he has no idea what’s going to happen. Ian has no idea the impact she will make on him and the one he will make on her. He’s a patient man, far more than one should have to be, but he knows that she’s worth it. He falls hard and fast.
Together Ian and Devan are a killer team. Not only raising money but with the kids on the floor at his hospital. York weaved a tale that should have been hard to read but made it happy one. The couple was fantastic, no matter how many times I wanted to Gibbs slap them and the secondary characters are what made the story. As a mother, there were times it was hard to read when York got to describing the kids but I couldn’t stop. This wasn’t any cut and dry story, the twists had me shouting WTF because there was no way I saw them coming. Take the time, spend the money, and read All I Ask.
Here are a couple pieces from the story that stuck out to me;
“The first time I met you I didn’t think you were real. I thought I had passed exhaustion and was starting to hallucinate because when I looked at you. When I truly saw you, you looked like an angel on your knees.”
“You can’t just buy me a camera every time something upsets me or you screw up,” she admonished me. “No,” I smiled as I moved in so she felt me behind her. “You will need lenses, grips, flashes, and whatever else you use to progress your skill. You truly have a gift.”
“Devan, if I were to fall for you and then you died then I would go to my grave grateful for the opportunity to have had someone as wonderful as you in my life for however long God let me have you.”
Plot- 5/5
Characters- 5/5
Heat- 4/5
Writing style- 4/5
Overall- 4/5

5 beautiful stars!! This is such an inspiring, beautiful and exciting love story!!

This is a stand alone (though I wish I could read more on Mac and Sarah!!). Be prepared and have a box of tissues handy!!

💙This is Devan and Ian's love story...

What do you get when a photographer who embraces the dark meets a doctor who lives in the light?!? True love!!

"I spend all my time fighting death while she seemed to welcome it. How does the light defeat the dark?"

Devan has known illness and death. She doesn't want the happy endings or the white picket fence. She just wants to help the cause. Until one day Mr Hottie (Dr Ian) changed everything.

Ian doesn't have time for anything other then his kids. These children deserve all his time and he makes sure they get it. Cancer may ruin everything else in their life but he will be damned if they don't get to enjoy what they do have. And then one day one stubborn and sexy woman drops to her knees in his office with an offer he can hardly refuse. Will he be able to dedicate time to anyone other then these children?!?!

“Jellybean, at some point you are going to have to let someone into your heart, not just your history..."

This is one hell of a beautiful story!! It is more then just a love story, it's a story of challenges, defeat, regret, family, fate, and so much more. Yes this was a great romance and it got hot and steamy right when it needed to but it also opened my eyes to so much more. I work in health care so I know the insides of illness but I think I miss a lot as well. And I miss the amount of themselves these doctors put into every patient and the lives of patients once they are better. I love that Devan's one life goal was to help these families and children. I think her story was beautiful and Ian was just the right person to stand beside her. This book was more then just tears and love. It was laughter (oh my gosh it as funny), there were moments Of complete anger and suspense (I mean really page one leads you to a mystery that isn't solved until the end but you didn't know until a little way through that you had a mystery to solve), there were good guys and bad guys (aka Veronica!!), the one homeless veteran turned into a movement of helping even more. This book needs to be read by people of all ages.

I think this book was written beautifully and was a easy read. The characters were like a movie in my mind. I loved everyone and their growth. I literally saw this movie. I loved the kids taking the conference room over, I loved when they had the wedding, and I think I want the pictures for myself. This book would make one hell of a perfect movie!! Please do not miss out, READ SOON!!

**I received this book as an ARC and in return gave my honest review**

3.5*

All I Ask is a charming, touching story about an erstwhile, pediatric oncologist, Dr. Ian Jensen and a young photographer with a dream of helping sick kids, Devan Anderson. Devan is convinced that she cannot have a happily ever after future and is only living in the now while Ian feels that he can only give his all to his patients. All that changes as the two start a charity to benefit children with cancer.

Devan and Ian are interesting characters in that they each are tackling life in a single-minded way. Both have a path that they have plotted out, based on childhood cancer, Devan diagnosed and treated, Ian losing his brother to the disease. Devan is a woman lacking in confidence but determined, She lacks polished finesse but makes up for it with inner glow that draws in those around her. Ian is a driven doctor who, while attractive, eschews all else for the sake of the kids in his care. Ms. York wrote both of her leads as well-rounded, intelligent people whose lives are out of balance until they meet.

The base story, Devan coming into her own and finding she is allowed to want more, itself is wonderful and includes delightful supporting characters such as 5 year old Davey, Devan's pregnant sister Sarah and homeless veteran Mac. How Devan and Ian interact with the young patients and each other is moving and humorous. The reason for the 3.5 stars is that there was too much side story. The questionable drug trials, Abby and Veronica, Dr. McLaughlin, Devan's secret illness, the intrigue all pulled me from the body of the story and made the flow of reading disjointed.

I still recommend this read for the extremely heartwarming basis of the book; learning to live despite all that life throws at you and savoring every moment as it comes.

This was such an emotional read All I ask is the first book I'v read by Elizabeth York and I'm definitely reading more in the future . This was beautifully written loved everything about it the characters ,the relationships , story line , happy , sad , angry , and steamy moments . Devan was astonishing after everything she has been threw shes ready to start living and do something she's extremely passionate about at times she did annoy me but it's understandable the way she reacts to certain things . Adored Ian the way he is with his patients is truly remarkable you don't see many like him he fights for what he believes in and is generally a kind man . When these two are together Devan and Ian put what they both feel strongly about and any way they can help . The hero and heroine sense a intense attraction that they fight but can't when it reaches a certain point and when they get together it's really steamy and tasteful . I feel a deep connection to all the characters there are some that are lovable and others that I don't wish good things for . Can't wait to read more by this author and hope to read more about these characters .

Just when I thought I had read it all I was proven wrong by a beautiful love story unfolding around heart wrenching events. I questioned if my torn heart would survive this book, but as always Ms. York never fails to put me back together again.

Devan is a photographer who sees her talent as an opportunity to help others. Ian takes what was detrimental to his childhood and tries to use it to help others. Both are awe-inspiring people. In truth, I wish more people were like them.

Davey, Sarah, and Mac are my favorite secondary characters. They add to the story to make it whole. Truth be told I would want Davey as my new BFF. Seems like he would be a blast to be around daily.

I won't give away too many spoilers because this book isn't something you can just sum up in a few sentences. This book is a must read. It is not a story like any other, and that makes me love it even more.

Ian says: "You remind me of a flower. Each petal is different, yet it is still in the Same body. You have a kind petal, a loving petal, a secretive petal, a beautiful petal, and a stubborn petal. You are everything wrapped up in one person."

You can say the entire book unfolded like a blooming flower. It had a intense petal, sad petal, love petal, hot petal, and a heart warming petal. This book bloomed just like the authors career I am sure after reading this book. I can't wait to read more.

This story really hits you in the feels. Most of the time I had a knot in my throat while reading it trying not to cry. You know the writing is good when you feel the emotions that the characters in the books are feeling. When you want everything to turn out with the happily ever after and then things take a rough and rocky turn and you feel your heart breaking just like the characters. That is what I felt during this book.

Devan is the shy photographer trying to make a name for herself. She is very closed off because she know that if she doesn't let anyone in then she not they can get hurt. Growing up with a childhood filled with illness and sadness she know just what to do to keep everyone out.

Ian is a pediatric oncologist that works with lively children day in and day out. He wants to make sure each day is filled with happiness for the kids that he treats. He is the cool, fun doctor that every kid wants. So when he meets Devan he is having a bad day. Her just needing 5 minutes of his time he propositions her in a way that he know she will be running from but to his surprise she does the exact opposite of what he expects.

What is Devan needing from him and what does he say to her that makes him surprised? YOU will have to read the book to find out.

Loved this book. Grab some tissues because you will definitely need it in certain parts.

When I started this book, I was like WHY AM I READING THIS???? It has some rough content in it because it is about a child cancer survivor (as an adult) and a pediatrician oncologist. Devan had cancer as a child and ended up surviving. She basically lives her life like she is going to die at any moment. She does not let people in and is planning for her legacy. She ends up falling for the kids in the hospital and eventually Ian. I love that she was not taking no as answer from Ian to start her project. She is very tenacious and driven. Ian is a doctor and truly cares about the kids in his care. He basically lives at the hospital and goes home to sleep for a little bit, sometimes. He has given his whole life to helping the children and does not want Devan to use them for personal gain. As they get to know each other, Ian realizes that Devan is honest about her intentions and can give the kids things that he can't. I fell in love with several of the characters in this book. There is some mystery in this story and it was really surprising at the end. There were times when I hated both characters and wanted to slap each of them. There were some very funny parts too.

I am giving this book 4.5 stars out of 5. Be prepared for some rough patches but the story is pretty good. Go get it!!

4 Gut-wrenching Stars!

First off, I have to say that I have had family members that have passed from this horrid, horrible disease, but none were children (Thank God!) This book hit me soooo hard on sooooo many emotional levels, that I find it very difficult to articulate my thoughts...but here goes!

Devan, a photographer who had a, to put it mildly, difficult childhood, which made her stubborn, determined and one-track-minded (and sometimes I REALLY wanted to shake her!!) She is a very different kind of heroine than I'm used to and, in the end, I DID fall in love with her. Ian is a Pediatric Oncologist(and also had a rough start in life) that deals with kids with cancer day in, day out. A real-life hero saving the lives of children, but that's just part of who he is!

There is so much intense angst but also so much laughter and love, sweet and tender moments, as well as some sexy, HOT moments! I enjoyed pretty much everything about this love story...I just found the pacing was a little bit out of sync, making me feel like there was something missing. The character development however, is stellar! I felt like all of them were very real and true to life! The kids, in particular stole my heart, made me laugh and cry and fall in love with them all!

This is my first read by Elizabeth York, but let me just say it definitely won't be the last!

4.5 Emotional Stars! Devan has grown up with a childhood surrounded with illness and sadness. She is a photographer but does not want to let anyone get close for fear of getting hurt. Ian is a pediatric oncologist who works with very sick children everyday. Ian is the type of doctor that all the kids love because he has an easy going personality and is fun loving. Devan wants to raise money to help children with cancer. When Devan and Ian meet and they have no idea what type of impact they will have on each other. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and found it to be an emotional one to read. The characters were interesting and I found myself crying, laughing and swooning along with them. I was engaged from the first chapter and found myself not wanting to put it down. The author writes a beautiful and touching story that will capture your heart. This story will stay with me for a long time to come! This is the first book that I have read by Ms. York and I will definitely be reading more in the future! I highly recommend this story!

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. This book was read and reviewed by Annamaria for Alpha Book Club.

OH MY WORD WOW!!!

When this author first contacted me about her book, she was a author I had not heard off but liked the sound of her book, I was sent the book to read for a honest review.....well all I can say is OH MY WORD WOW!!!

This book is undoubtedly brilliant, it had me completely on the edge of my seat from the start to the very very very end, my heart absolutely broke for this girl and everything she had been through as a child...because of this she completely closed herself off from love from everyone but her sister....that's until a dreamy and handsome doctor comes into her life when she asks for 5 minutes of his time.....she literally ends up been on her knees to ask for this 😉.

Devan and Ian work alongside each other on building a charity to help young kids with serious illnesses and raise money for them, Ian is the doctor who works day in and out for these kids.....sparks fly between them and both fall for each deeply.

This book had so so so many twist and turns it left me gripping for wanting more, it had me laughing in parts and had me crying deeply for all the characters in this book....this book made you feel every emotion when reading it. All the characters make this so much more special and left you with such an amazing HEA.

Thank you so so much for a wonderful book and I can't wait to read more of your books....definitely a 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read.

This book was not what I expected. It started out with lots of emotions then it converted into suspense.

Devan was a photographer who was also a cancer survivor and only wanted the sick kids to have what she didn't have. Ian was a doctor who worked with sick kids and only wanted them to enjoy their childhood and not think about their sickness or death. Ian and Devan meet when she approaches him at the hospital to help her create a charity for the kids. It started as business partners but clearly developed into more.

Devan has never been in a relationship and Ian only wanted her to live and enjoy life. It was hard for him to breakthrough to her but he did it. He tried to make her loosen up several times and was good at it. Then misunderstandings tore them apart.

This was the part of the book that started turning into suspense and was really upsetting me all at the same time keeping me intrigued. So many things happened which was keeping them apart than together.

When everything finally cleared up I was happy for both of them. Devan sister, the sick kids and her brother in law were the best.

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book.

All I Ask is a beautifully written story of two people finding love but not without obstacles in the way. Luckily this is exactly what I found in this story. There is a good storyline and it kept me hooked from page one.

Devon and Ian are two very different people. She's a photograph and he's a doctor. They've had very different childhoods and lead very different lives. I found myself wanting to shake Devon at times, not believing she couldn't see the obvious; she was totally oblivious so things around her. As for Ian, well I wanted to sit down and cry with him. I loved both these characters very much and the author writes well, keeping the reader intrigued.

I cannot think of a way to tell you the basis of the story without giving away anything, so I won't, but this is such a brilliant read. I have never read from this author before but I will be reading more from her now.

This is an amazing read, full of twists and turn, which I suggest you one-click it now!

this is the first book I am reading by this author. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. My usual genre goes a little dark but for some reason when reading the blurb I had to read this book. I am so glad I wasn't disappointed.

This book made me laugh. It made me tear up and it made me angry. I didn't think it was possible to feel all those emotions in one sitting. What do you do when a book makes you feel everything? You keep reading that's what you do. The chemistry between Devan and Ian is almost too much to bear. Like every stubborn couple they fight it tooth and nail. Brushing it off thinking it's nothing. Devan is running from a past she can't seem to escape and a force of nature she can't control. While Devan mainly deals with her past Ian is dealing with the present. Trying to find a solution to a problem when it seems like there isn't one. Can they each fight their demons to be together?

This book... WOW! Just...WOW!

Let me just start by asking, could Dr. Ian be any more perfect?

- Good with kids? Yep
- Amazingly compassionate? 100%
- Dedicated to his job? No question
- Hot as hell beneath that white lab coat? Ah, yeah

Then add Devan - this chick is more screwed up than any character I remember reading. But unlike most, she has every reason to have those mile high, barb wired walls built around her. Only someone with superhuman patience, someone able to see beyond first impressions and only someone with a pure heart could get through them.

This book broke my heart but only because it was so damn beautiful!

Emotions were wrenched from you, some you weren't even sure you were capable of feeling. And in parts I found myself wanting to be there on the hospital floor fighting the bad guys with the sick superheroes of York's story.

Can't wait to find more of Elizabeth's work, because if it's anything like this I'm in for one hell of a ride!

This was certainly an interesting read. I got so much more than I expected from this book. It was more than just a romance that develops between doctor Ian and photographer Devan, with all the conflict that comes with it. It is also about Devan finding her place in the world. But it doesn't end there. There is also something strange going on at Ian's hospital with sick children not getting better, records going missing, families going broke and it all connects to Devan's past somehow.

This was emotional throughout because of the subject matter and the way Devan is. Elizabeth York did a fantastic job of blending all the elements together in such a sensitive way. You will blub, you will laugh out loud and you will be on the edge of your seat.

A story about two people molded by their past but with decidedly different paths. One, Ian learned that their should be a balance between work and life. The other, Devan is dedicated to her career and nothing else, contently going along with her life. Well fate decides to shake things up, and into each others way, giving us a romance that will have you crying and smiling in you heart.
There were times where I wanted to bang their heads together, just to get some sense into them. Reading their ups and downs kept me invested in their story.
Elizabeth York hit her mark with this one!

This is the first book I've read by Elizabeth York and I loved her characters.

Ian and Devan's story was fresh and original. I don't think I've ever read anything quite like it. The things Devan went through were truly frightening. And even more frightening is the fact I can really see some of those things happening in real life. And Ian, oh my!!! His love for those kids was inspiring!

I look forward to reading more of this author. If this is a true sample of her storytelling skills, I'm sure to love her other books as well!!!
