Very accessible and up-to-date. It doesn’t just stick to famous names and their theories but mostly explores real current issues. I think it's essential for every person to read a good sociology book or take a soc class; we are all living in a society after all!
Engaging textbook on sociology. It was surprisingly more balanced than I thought it would be for a liberal topical textbook. For the most part, it was not too liberal. The writing style was also good and kept my interest.
This is a decent intro to sociology text. There are a few issues with the framing of sex and gender and some essentialist thinking but I found it to be a good jumping-off point for discussion.
This book used easy to understand language to help anybody unfamiliar with the subject to understand the material. All of the research stories within felt personal and helped the reader to connect and understand why sociology is important to our lives.
I was very unimpressed with this book. I read a recent edition, but a lot of the information is incredibly out of date. Also, there are many incorrect statements. Unless you are forced to read this book for a class, I highly recommend picking up a different sociology book.
had to read the book for a course in school. Very interesting topic and easy to follow. It got me interested in sociology might continue reading about the topic.
well its a good textbook and gets the important messages across in a good way, its easy to skim through and find the important things, and its easy to study from, as far as textbooks go, this is a pretty good one!
