Lukas, a young hispanic boy, is his reckless mother's son, and in his young life, there is no mercy for an unlucky soul with an unhealthy habit of sucking his thumb. In his mind, he his actually a girl. Lukas is left vulnerable time and again as his mother abandons him, and before he meets Myra Doom on the metro bus, he has no one to protect him.

Lukas ventures out on his own to the Emerald City streets, and begins turning tricks to survive. Now Lukas, sick and near death, must survive on her own, reclaim her identity as Jessa, outwit those who would exploit her with drugs and explicit abuse, and release the ghosts of her past before time runs out on another traumatized trans youth for good.
