Wow, I am so glad that I discovered Mary Alford not that long ago. I have thoroughly enjoyed the stories I've read by her.
I started Covert Justice one night and finished it the next, I didn't want to put it down!
Hannah and Kate are connected - Hannah has Kate's heart and Kate's memories, and she is terrified by those memories. She wants to find the man that killed Kate, unfortunately that puts his sites on her.
Jase loved Kate, but never told her and he had no idea that she loved him, they were just a couple working together and enjoying a relationship. When Kate died and he heard that this woman who got her heart was having Kate's memories, he wanted no part in it and didn't believe it, unfortunately his boss had other plans and put them together to keep her safe.
There are quite a few twists and turns in this story and a bomb shell of an ending. It's also clean!
Excellent read, especially if you are like me and love action packed suspense. It has strong, well developed characters that immediately pulled me into the story. The author brings a plot that kept me on the edge of my seat. I liked Hannah immediately. She knew what was right and followed through with her plan. She was determined to find answers even if it led into danger. Jase was easy to love with his total commitment to protect Hannah even though he was experiencing grief himself. This is a really great story that I would recommend to anyone who loves suspense. I received this book from the author. I was not required to write a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I loved the plot of this book and it is well written. The characters seemed so real. However there was not much of a Christian thread until the last half of the book. I was disturbed by the mention of premarital sex and the use of some swear words. I came close to putting the book down because of this, but I did finish the book and loved the suspense. That is why I am still giving the book 4 stars.
Mary Alford named this book, Every Beat, with a feeling that never left my heart. From the first page until the very end, danger and secrets filled in the story. Jase and Hannah had to become a team of sorts, even a shaky one, just to keep the danger at bay. Every Beat's tone, twists and turns just fueled my need to read this captivating romantic suspense. I JUST LOVED EVERY SECOND OF READING IT!! I rated Every Beat 5 out of 5 stars and can't wait for the next one!!
Wow, my first Mary Alford but definitely not my last! Amazing written, twists and turns .....but I was impressed with the topic of the heart implantation and "2 souls in one body" I recommend this book to everybody
This is an awesome book!!!!! What an adventure Jase and Hannah had!!!!! Some romance, relationships with real scrimmage and faith in a the real God!!!!
This story was everything I like in a book, action, suspense, mystery and falling in love. If you like a book with surprises around every corner then you should read this. I received a free copy with no obligation. Great story.
This was a fast paced suspense book full of action! It wasn't like any other book that I had read, which is awesome.
Hannah was a grade school teacher with a heart condition. She received a heart transplant from murdered CIA agent, Kate. Hannah starts remembering Kate's experiences which puts her in grave danger. CIA agent Jase, is put in charge of protecting Hannah, and Hannah tells him how much Kate had loved him. He doesn't want to believe that Hannah is actually able to see and feel Kate's memories. Will he ever break that stone around his heart to be able to love again? What happens when they go their separate ways? Will Hannah continue to be haunted by Kate's memories or will she be able to live her without that burden?
This book contains light references of the characters praying to God. There is also one quick reference to premarital sex, but there is no description of it, so I consider this a clean suspenseful romance. There were a couple grammatical errors that I noticed, but it didn't take away from the context at all. I received a copy of this book from the author, but that in no way affected my review.
This was CIA suspense thriller romance about a school teacher who got the heart of a CIA agent who died during a mission. As a result the heroine has memories of the decreased agent's last moments alive. I felt it was an overall okay read.
Jase has some big regret and now the biggest one of all is to late to take care off. He needs to make things right for Kate he needs to find out who killed her like it was his last breath. It seems someone else has other plans can he get to the bottom of it all before it's to late? Hannah has spent her life sick when she wakes up from a coma two weeks in the hospital and a new heart she's having these dreams that continue to haunt her and she knows the person that gave it to her was murdered, but when she starts to dig deeper into who the donor was her life becomes at risk. Will she be able to find out who's after her and who killed Kate or will it all come to a crashing halt?
Oh my gosh I loved this book it had me on the edge of my seat the whole time I could not put it down. This book had twist and turns with every page and sucks you in so you want to know what happens next. This book is a good clean book and it was super fun read. The book seemed predictable at times and then all of a sudden the author those a wrench into the mix and has you on another thinking path and another journey till something new happens. Keeps you guess till the end you can't go wrong with this book.
Action packed from beginning to end. This is a story that I could not put down. Hannah realizes she is having memories of someone else and those memories could cost her everything, including her life. Jase and Hannah endure danger and suspense as they try to discover the truth. Excellent story. I received a copy of this story from the author and this is my personal honest opinion.
