Immortal Stain #1

The Nysein: Salvation

Rate this book
The Nysein: A few centuries ago, control became an issue abounding in a war like no other. The vampires and necromancers reigned sovereign in the shadows of eerie night. They prophesied a new era…a new breed of enhanced vampire no one on earth had ever seen…

A wasting disease marks the Nysein race after King Darién seeks vengeance upon his mother’s murderers. Every day he chokes on loneliness and past mistakes as another innocent victim dies without hope. His only salvation lies in a whispered curse, immersed in an ancient mating ritual. An idea so repulsive, he can’t imagine ever fulfilling…mating for life with a woman he’s never met, half human, half vampire. With one look upon the half-breed’s face, his rationality plummets.

For scholarly beauty Jenera Cole, life moves in slow motion, another strike against her…another disappointment. She is unaware of her immortal destiny until fate traps her inside an otherworldly hell, however, a stranger appears within her supernatural prison…a man with seductive eyes and an incredible power. Destiny isn’t only a word, it is the source of the Nysein magic, and Jenera must accept her fate. She must lay claim to the lost King as secrets bury them, lies unite them, and a prophecy comes true…

This is my first book by this author and won't be the last!

The Nysein are a higher race of vamps and Darien is the King of his people. He has been told he should go find a half-breed that will help cure his people of a devastating wasting disease .... He doesn't truly believe in his fated mate and has no interest in finding her until he see's her.......

Jenera is a quiet and sensible characther, but when she's in an accident and close to death she's confused and keeps seeing a dark handsome stranger visiting her, but he keeps disappearing. When she awakes she's somewhere new and that man is there and is even more alluring. He is smitten and most probably she is too.

I loved the way the Jenera and Darien met in 'spirit' world before meeting in the flesh. I also found Darien very romantic as he really did not want to push her into mating with him. The difficult part for him was how to tell a human that his a vampire, and that he wants her to stay with him forever and hopefully heal his people. This is when we see Jenera bloom and become a worthy queen.

The world building was well done and characther development enjoyable, the storyline kept me hooked until the end, I could have read more of this couple as they were so sexy and fun together, totally fated souls in my pov.

5 stars - can't fault it

3,5 stars

first things first, the reason behind the 3,5 star rating is based on the fact that i didn't really like the writing in the beginning of the book.i haven't read such a descriptive text in a while,so i don't know how to actually feel about it.it had its ups and downs.while in some chapters the flow was really smooth in others the constant descriptions ruined a little bit the rhythm of the storytelling.i wanted a lot more showing and less describing...or something like this.the first 3 or so chapters were the most description abundant, so i suggest the readers to continue reading because things get better from chapter 4.:)
the plot, thoughm, was easy to follow but a tad bit predictable.i needed a little more mystery and suspense but i didn't really mind its lack. ^^

nonetheless,this doesn't mean that i didn't enjoy the book.

the first book of the Nysein duology(?) was a sweet short story about King of Nysein Darién and Jenera Cole.

description
The Nysein: Salvation narrates their love story inside a environment full of betrayals, lies, schemes and political conflict.
it all started when Darien's mother was murdered by a scheme
you see, our dear king tried to avenge his mother's murder by torturing and killing the responsible.during this feat, the seer-lover of the fiend cursed with her dying breath the entire race with "a new form of slow, painful death affecting the Nysein... Aptis. A strange disease soaking the energy and life right out of the Nysein"
and the only chance to somehow "win" against the curse lies in a Half-breed.

"A great fear will erupt
Her soul sleeping cold, she will come..
Bearing the mark of blood, the offspring will wield a ring of jasmine.
In her sacrifice—only a half-breed’s honor will save the dying...

Gerahar, an ancient vampire, slave of a bloodthirsty maniac king and father of the halfbreed offspring, tries to amend his past mistakes by saving his daughter, Jenera and bringing her to Darien so as for her to mate with him and fulfil the prophecy-curse.
he goes to Darien under his master's order and Darien decides to take his chance and proceed to meeting his mate-to-be.but Jenera is in the hospital due to anaccident and darien is hooked from the moment he sees her.and so does she when he later visits her in the Land of Dreams.

"He was seduced, lured, even crazed at times with the thought of her. He wanted her. Not just to break a curse, but for himself, and failing was not an option he would accept"

description
yes,it is instalove...but don't let that discourage you.for a short story(238 pages) The Nysein: Salvation is really sweet which i wished that was longer so as for their relationship to mature and flourish steadily and deeply.i believe that if it was longer i would have enjoyed it more.what i did, though, enjoy was Jerena and Darien's relationship.though his decision to not tell her the truth earlier did create more misunderstandings basically due to Gerehar and his ways.
after Jerena decides to mate/marry with Darien
description(trust me this is a great gif to use because there is actually a scene in chapter 7 where something similar to the scene in aladdin happens)opens to her and she is now forced to live in it. she decides to trust Darien full-heartedly.and after that,it is a ride to fight the enemies and learn to treasure each other.

“Never hide from me. Please? I will not accept only half of you,”

You are my salvation... it’s in your breath... your heart and every moment you give to me. You have filled every vacant part... and I am renewed."

i loved their precious little moments of Jenera and Darien, the cave, the wedding...<3

all in all this was a good read that i stongly suggest to the fans of paranormal romance and especially to vampire lovers.^^

I really liked this book from the beginning. I love how the Ms. Mikell puts so much detail into her descriptions to where you feel like you're breathing over the characters' shoulders. This book is described as omniscient, I did get a little confused at times but it was no problem after I got used to the writing style. The Nysein is about a kingdom of upgraded vampires that has been crippled by a cruel disease that is killing many. A curse was set upon the kingdom long ago with the only cure being the king mate with a half-breed vampire. I really liked how the characters interacted with each other because it just felt so real. King Darien was so sweet I believe anyone would give him a chance no matter who they were just by my mental image!!!! Jenera was pretty relatable and super lucky, in my opinion. I can't wait to read the next book!!!! I recommend this book to New Adults and/or Adults because of much of the book's explicitly detailed content.

Darien was king of the Nysein race. A vampire necromancer hybrid that posessed powerful abilities at birth. Ranging from mind reading, control of fire, telekinesis, healing & various other abilities. His people were dying from a disease called aptis & there was no known cure.
There was a myth about a half vampire that would break the curse & cure the aptis carriers. Janera was the half vampire Darien was looking for & after a near fatal accident he finds her & cant deny his attraction even after his first siting of her.
This book could almost be considered paranormal erotica with all of the steamy scenes included. It was a very easy and enjoyable read. Though the plot moved very quick. It included other key players in both the vampire & nysein world with hints of other paranormals to hopefully show up in future books in this series.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review from LoP reading group on Goodreads.

The Nysein, a group of advanced vampires with amazing abilities. Created above other vampires some belived they were better and set out to destroy all regular vamps, but they weren't expecting to be cursed and only a half breed vampire could save them. Hundreds of years later if they Nysein king can get over the predjuices of the past he just might save his people. Darién hated his father for starting a war when his own wife was the same thing he was trying to eridicate, but whe she is kidnapped and killed he takes over his fathers war to get vengance for his mother. Now more years than he cares to remember he's tired and when the chance to save his people comes he has to decide if he can take the first step, what he wasn't expecting was Jenera.

Jenera has lead a simple if not boring life, its been empty but she doesn't know what was missing. Being in a coma was the last place she thought she'd meet her destiny, but that's exactally where Darién finds her. She doesn't know why she trusts him just that she does, but when she finds out his secrets will she still want to be with him?

Jenera is the type to go with the flow you show her proof of something and she'll believe you even if it does freak her out. She's strong and caring and she won't let anyone just push her around. Her character is fun and sassy and I enjoyed her easy going attitude, but just because she was easy going didn't mean she let everyone walk all over her and tha made me like her even more.

Darién, well he's a king and he acts like it, it's his way or the highway and he doesn't care what anyone thinks. He cares for his people deeply though and it shows in what he does always looking for what best for them. I loved his alpha male attitude and seeing how much he loves those closest to him to where he would do anything for them.

Interesting story and a good start to a new series and am excited to see more of it.

~~ I was given this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP)~~

This was a pretty good read with a different take on the vampire genre, where there are 2 types of vamp existing: The regular vamps and the Nysein (super vamps).

Likes:

The Action:
While the fighting/action scene was a little too short for my taste, it still had my complete attention, and left me wondering what would happen next.

The Romance:
Jenera and Darien's romance seems to be out of the blue, but after learning he'd actually wanted for months, and patiently waited for her, it made his actions seem more believable and his love for her that much stronger.

The World Building:
The island of Serey was very easy to envision as I was born on an island complete with inactive volcano. The citadel was beautifully described with its period pieces. I especially loved Jenera/Sereyah's room with all the crystal furniture. I'd really love to see the bed. It sounds amazing.

Dislikes:
There isn't a whole lot I disliked about this book, but the one thing that made me glare the most was the way certain words were used. Maybe it's because of where the author is from (which makes certain word usage different from what I'm used to and is more readily accepted), or I just wasn't reading it right. Either way, it was the one thing that distracted me a bit from the story.

Overall...
This was a very good read, and I will most likely be reading more works from this author.

Darien, the king of vampires is trying to save his race, from a war his father started. The Nysein was a race of magical vampires with necromancer blood. Rumlar, Darien's father wanted to eradicate the regular vampires for nothing more then hate. having his mother kidnapped and murdered. Darien seeks revenge for her death. His people ended up cursed and only a half- breed will save them. Centuries later with his people dying from Aptis, King Darien needs to break the curse before all his people die.

All Jenna wants out of life is a family. Someone to come home to. She didn't want to settle for anything less. After a office party, Jenna was taking her drunk friend April home, when an accident happened and she ended up in a coma. Unknowing she is the half- breed that was prophesied about all those centuries before. Darien must hurry to Jenna before she dies.

Loved the characters in this book. Jenna was a go with the flow women. After her unusual upbringing she didn't know the person visiting her in her mind she just knew to trust him and there was something about him that called to her. Darien knew all about the women that would save his people, what he didn't expect was to want her that bad. The sexual energy between Darien and Jenna just jumps off the page. Along with all the twists and turns that were unexpected in the book. Makes for a thrilling read.

King Darien is a very special kind of magical vampire called Nysein. He’s trying to save his people from a curse bestowed on them during a magic vampire vs regular vampire war centuries ago. The curse is a disease called Aptis, which causes the Nysein to waste to death. King Darien needs to break the curse before all his people die, but a prophecy says only a half human-half vampire can save them! She in Jenera.

Jenera is a woman of angelic beauty, but she’s also a 25 year old virgin and a bit of a hermit. All she want's is a family (husband, kids, all that jazz) because she never had one growing up. When an accident happens that puts her in a coma, King Darien must save her before she dies.

It was instant love…and lust, between Jenera and Darien. The sexual tension between them was pretty intense…almost to the point of pain as the author keeps them from sealing the deal until halfway through the dang book! Grrr LOL

But when they do “seal the deal” the steamy scenes may just move this book from innocent Paranormal Fantasy to Erotica! And I don’t mind one bit (wink) It was an incredibly enjoyable read. Thank you Mrs. Beth!

I don't know how I feel about this book. The story is short, limiting the world building and making it feel rushed. Some paragraphs were overly and uncomfortably descriptive and better editing was needed. I did enjoy the story of Jenera, a half breed vampire and Darien, the Nysein King, even though I'm not a fan of " insta love". The secondary characters are interesting. Maxim, the second in command is hilarious, Shara the commander of the guards is stoic and I would like to see more of Rana and Cyril.

I myself like second chances so I would read the next book to see where the characters are headed.

***I received this book in exchange for an honest review, Lovers of Paranormal.***

I LOVED IT, what a great story!

So usually, I'm not into world building or beginning setups but from the beginning Beth Mikell drew me into the Nysein world and kept me engaged the whole time.

I loved Jenera's character. Ordinarily kind and accepting, she accepts the Nysein world wholeheartedly and softens the heartless King. Darien was a great hero for her, always swooping in when she needed it. Rana was a really great character as well and I look forward to seeing where her character goes in the future.

The plot was exciting and fast-paced and their exploding relationship....perfect! I totally didn't see the ending coming, but I LOVED it.

I was a fan, great new series.

As Salvation began, the setup took some focus on my part because I'm not a fast reader and I wasn't sure what I'd gotten myself into, yet what an action packed, sexy and sensual novel! There were so many unexpected twists and cool effects--I didn't want it to end. Ms. Mikell takes you through to another world, another place and makes it REAL! I liked the idea of magical vampires and the layers of subplots within the story. Each new chapter brought me to another problem until I was holding my breath until the final page. I can't wait for book 2! As one satisfied reader, do yourself a favor and try this. Really…! Oh, not to spoil anything, but the volcano was a nice touch! :)

This was a very sweet, short read. Jenera and Darien’s love for each other is all consuming and very hot and sexy. The plot is a little predictable, but at the same time I got a very good sense of the Nysien people and their different powers, which is interesting in itself. I liked that Jerena didn’t spend the whole story in denial and that she accepted what was going on in her life. Going forward this series has the potential to go anywhere because of the different characters and their gifts. I see the series getting better and better.

I enjoyed this book, Darien is a dark king with protective instincts, he falls for the girl that's supposed to save his race. What I liked most about the story is that it jumped right into an epic romance, sometimes I like things drawn out and not rushed but I was into there romance from the start. It was a great concept and a easy light read.

I would also love to see a romance spark up with Rana and Cyril. Rana's past is compelling and I want to know more, also there was definitely something between her and Cyril and I hope to find out what it is!

I wasn't sure how I felt after reading this book. I love vampires and paranormal romance and really enjoyed the new spin on vampires, however the book was difficult for me to finish. The instant love concept is one I never enjoy and I found myself constantly being frustrated by the actions of the main characters. The emotional responses for the main characters was just over the top and unreasonable. I found myself more interested in the side characters as the book went on.

Recieved for an honest review. Very fast paced. The author wastes no time weaving us into a new world of vampires. Right into the heart of it, Darien and Jenera become everything to each other on the middle of a war. Insta-love? Yes. But the author spins and moves the story along that you can't help but want more. Nice start to a new series.
