This sequel is equally jammed packed as the first one. The characters and story are top notch, real, raw, honest, gritty, unique, and compelling too. I look forward to more from this series and author too.
The Magic of Dimmingwood series by C. Greenwood is a fantastic fantasy series for ages teen to adult.
This Series is filled with well-developed characters, settings, minor violence, intrigue, along with minor plot conflicts for the characters to solve within each book as they wind their way through each adventure toward their goal of solving the major conflict. It boasts a fantastic mastery in its flow and dialogue that suck the reader into the individual story of each book, but most importantly, you are allowed to achieve that all-important reading nirvana that is the mark of a well-done book.
I am very lucky to say that I received this book from the author. I am a fan of her writing, and I am loving this new series. We are learning so much more about Rideon, and his early life was quite a rollercoaster. You don't have to read the previous series to enjoy this book, but having done so it really brings to life his character in the other Dimmingswood series for me. This book ends in a cliff hanger and even if it hadn't I would be dying for more!
I really enjoy this author's work and book two of this series is an excellent read.
Poor Rideon is plagued by all manner of difficult choices, though constantly strives to do what is right...but is that best for him and his brother's survival?
This installment is about changes and how the troubles of life do change us. It's also about choices.
Filled with adventure, danger and mystery, this fantasy story is a compelling read.
This book has a lot of fluff in it as Elone leaves Dimmingwood in search of magical teaching from the Gray Robe. Not a lot happens in this book other then she finds out that her young priest boy Terrick is living with the Praetor. At the end she returns to Dimmingwood. I still love this series. No cliffhanger, but not a lot of story in this book either. No HEA as their isn't any type of love story. This is just about her learning about her magic and trying to rescue Terrick from the Praetor.
Updated comment on the series: As I am writing reviews and more aware of how short these books are, it does remind me of authors who drag you along with small cliffhanger books for revenue. I already own all of these audio books and enjoy this story all at one time and I enjoy the story line. But as I realize the short books that keep going - I would be very frustrated as a new buyer of this series.
I didn't like how this story was going with the first book and now I know why, I read the second book hoping that it would get better But I was wrong. I fell asleep several times. Read it at your on risk. Way small.
Its refreshing to find a good clean fantasy series when so much of what is offered today is pornography with some swashbuckling swordsmanship thrown in so it can vaguely be classified as fantasy. I found it had a good story line, decently developed characters, and straightforward enough to track the progression of the story without dizzying changes in character point of view, time line changes, or other recent literary devices common in today's fantasy novels.
