Sarah Curtis is a writer of all things romance. She loves nothing more than a sexy alpha male who falls hard for their heroine, almost always in spite of themselves!

A life-long resident of Southern California, Sarah shares her writing den with her childhood sweetheart and very own alpha male. When she’s not writing or dreaming up plotlines you can find her wrangling her plethora of very spoiled felines—she currently has five, yes you read that correctly, furry companions. Sarah is a reader before anything else, and her TBR mountain is higher than Everest. She’s also addicted to watching cooking competitions, especially involving baking! Of her own admission, she rarely cooks, but she’s up for the occasional birthday cake for her children as long as it involves the opening of a box.

I neither connected with not cared about the characters. The sex was lacklustre and generic, the poker lingo merely added to the disconnect.

***IT'S ALIVE***

Is it possible for a HERO to be perfect?

I’m worried that the amount of romance I read has made me cynical. I expect the hero to want sex without commitment (I'm not ready for commitment, I just want some fun). I’m waiting for the ex (of the hero) to walk in the door to claim her man back (Drama Lama). There’s this little part of me that’s waiting for the hero to get cold feet as soon as he starts to feel (You're too good for me...I'm doing it for you). Is this reality? Or, maybe I’ve read so many stories where this is the norm, that I expect to have it pop up in all the romance stories I read. Well, In All-In I was waiting…and waiting…and waiting…but…it didn’t come.

Oh, don’t get me wrong, there was plenty of emotion and a fair amount of drama. For once, though, the hero is innocent, makes mistakes and apologises and runs forwards instead of backwards when he starts to feel. How cool is that…we actually get a HERO. Yeah, yeah the guy in the book normally has the title "hero", but how many of those blokes are actually heroes? Sure, they may eventually become hero…ish by the end of the book, but in a lot of the reads, we have to deal with a wee bit of douchewafflery before we get there.

It’s kind of sad that I kept waiting for Alec, our HERO, to do something bad.

River and her brother Royal have poker in their blood. Their father, when he was alive, was a famous poker player and he passed on his talent to his kids. One of the kids turned out a natural and the other is good, but isn’t as successful. Guess which one decided to make poker his career? Well, Royal, he got himself into a wee bit of trouble and now owes money to some baddies. Royal sweet talks River into heading to a tournament to win enough money to clear the debt. River says yes immediately because that’s what family does and Royal is the only family she’s got.

While River has never played professional poker, she does know a lot of the players. She had a HUGE crush when she was 13, on a 21-year-old player by the name of Alec Throne. Guess who she bumps into when her flight lands in Eden Island, home of the Omega One tournament?

Alec cannot believe his good luck when the beautiful woman he bumped into at the airport walks into the restaurant he is at. Not wasting any time, he approaches her and forces an introduction. This woman has his heart racing and his mind in a whirl. It’s going to take his best game to convince her to give him a chance.

I really enjoyed reading All-In. Even with a glossary of terms and Poker Hand Ranking (HA…I still have no idea what that’s all about), I admit to not understanding poker. I know there are cards, poker faces, dealers, players, straight, bets, flushes and folds…words…blah…blah…blah…words. Foreign bloody language to be honest. But, it didn’t really matter. I was still able to experience the highs and lows of the game and felt the excitement of a win and devastation of a loss. It was fun, but I’m pretty sure I don’t have the nerves or the poker face to ever be a successful player.

All-In is all about the love story. It was sweet, steamy and a wee bit insta-lust morphing into love. There’s some drama but most of it is with River and Alec on the same side fighting the foe. I was thoroughly entertained from start to finish, loved the characters and was sucked into the storyline. I’ve read nearly all of Sarah Curtis’s work and her talent has increased with each story. All-In is my favourite, though, and I’m kind of hoping we’ll get Nico’s story in the future…and maybe Victoria’s…or…maybe Victoria and Nico…together.

If you're looking for a quick fix with a sexy HERO and a smart and loyal HEROINE, I definitely suggest giving All-In a go.

IT'S LIVE!

**ARC RECEIVED IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW **

I really enjoyed this story! It was the first time I've read a story about poker players so it kept my interest.   I  will say that my lack of poker knowledge got me a couple of times,  but it didn't take away from the story for me at all.

Alec is successful high stakes poker player so he exudes confidence.  Add to it that he is sexy and intriguing and you have a molten alpha hero. He had been a player, never being spotted with the same woman more than once (with one exception-see below), but his previous behavior wasn't really thrown in our face.  That being said,  the moment he spotted the heroine, River, he is immediately drawn to her.  He is determined to make her his.

River is the daughter of a former well known poker player. She was a heroine who "grew" on me as time went on. She had a lot on her plate trying to get her brother out of trouble by winning money in order to save his hide. Her method- winning a poker tornament. Her unexpected appearance at the tornament causes a stir, but what has kept her on edge is the intense attraction to River.   It doesn't help that she crushed on him for years-she was 13 (he had no clue, only meeting her at the tornament) Only to have her young heart crushed when she saw picture of the older poker player with other women at functions. Having him close was like a dream so she decided that she would live in the moment not knowing that Alec had a more "long term" thing in mind.

-no cheating
-om drama - no drama at all except for a couple instances of men flirting
-ow drama - after hearing a rumor, River looks Alec up online and sees him several pictures with one particular woman.  She is afraid he has a girlfriend and she does ask him about it.  She'd told she is just a family friend.  She makes another appearance in the story and at first River takes what she is seeing out of context but she is quickly set straight and sees for herself that he and the OW have a sibling-like relationship and nothing more.  Also, at one point a woman flirts with him and slips him her number but he doesn't give her the time of day.  None of this causes any relationship problems between the couple.
-heroine tries to push away some but hero won't have it -

"I won't run," she mumbled against his chest. "I'm done running. I don't know what this is, but I do know it's something."
"Not something." His lips found her ear, and he whispered gruffly, "Everything."

-small scene with some violence - not detailed and not of a sexual nature
-good epilogue with a HEA

I absolutely loved this book! Sarah Curtis just keeps getting better with each piece of work she releases and All-In is evidence of that fact.

description

When River Kingston is compelled to enter a high stakes poker game to save her brother, she comes face to face with her girlhood crush Alec Throne. Unfortunately, she doesn’t have time for the distraction. Too bad for her because The Prince of Poker has his eyes set on her and refuses to even consider letting her go. So begins their “vacation fling” - which does not feel fling like.

description

With three days of intense poker play, the mob breathing down their necks, uncertainty of the future if the heroine loses, an alpha hero that won’t walk away, and plenty of steamy, sexy goodness, this book is anything but boring.

description

I cannot wait to get Nico’s story. Greedy, I know. But Ms. Curtis can’t write fast enough for me.

descriptionThis is an alright cover. Good representation of the story. Creative use of text. The composition is off a bit for me, and it's a BIT too dark IMO. But not bad overall.description

descriptionI enjoyed this one. Nothing new or earth shattering involved. It was simply an easy peasy insta-lust read with no drama or angst, and it put a smile on my face. I did find the poker stuff to be on the boring side and wish we had gotten less of the tournament. And I am REALLY hoping that NICO gets a book. I love me some hot alpha mob boss action. This will appeal to the no angst lovers for sure.description

Who knew Poker could be so sexy! This had all the right cards in the deck. A hot, possessive, Poker playing Alpha. A strong female lead that wasn't annoying. A fun storyline and a bit of drama with a equally hot mafia boss. (I'm hoping Nico's getting his own book in the future)

Sarah Curtis is one of my favorite authors because she has safe reads, with my favorite dominant Alphas who just get better with each book she writes. Loved it!

I suddenly have a need to play POKER!

Think I’d be any good?

~*~Spoiler-E quotes below. You have been warned!~*~

I think the blurb tells all, but I’ll summarize it for ya anyways. River Kingston, daughter of Frank “King” Kingston, has this wonderful brother Royal. Well, Royal is the kind of brother you want to smack with a cactus! Harsh? Ok, just chuck frozen eggrolls at. Better? Basically, he is a royal pain in the a$$. I mean, who goes and plays with the mob? He’s better off playing in traffic! He not only plays with them, but owes then a hundred grand!!! And who does he offer up on a silver platter to bail his a$$ out? You guessed it, River. Who has never played professional poker, but is their best bet, “with a head for numbers and the uncanny ability to read people.”

Sounds good right? It gets better :D

In walks Alec?

Or I guess he doesn’t walk in, he gets crashed into. Either way…

When Alec Throne (AKA The Prince of Poker) walks into a room, all the ovaries go BOOM

With a character description like I mean, who wouldn’t?

"you only have eyes for one sweaty, male body, right?"

He’s immediately drawn to River; and is relentlessly driven to get to know her better not for her looks, but because he sees her as his equal. She's not just beautiful, but smart, witty, and honest. And honesty is a big deal in poker.
"River Kingston, I would never throw you over for a leggy brunette."
“Unexpectedly, this little slip of a woman had fallen the mighty Prince of Poker, and he hadn't even fucking cared. In fact, his heart soared.”

And I can’t express enough how freaking brilliant Alec is at dolling out compliments.
"Did I tell you how beautiful you look?" […] "You look good enough to eat. And I mean that quite literally."

I mean, I’d take it ;)

Oh yeah, sorry. I got distracted. Anyways…

Somewhere within the book there is a poker tournament. And yes, I was having a visceral response to said tournament. My heart was pounding and I was sweating balls for River and Alec. I wanted them to win! I wanted them to smash the competition and take down all their enemies. Muaahahahahaah… *cough*

No really though, it was thrilling to read about. Some books advertise as a sports romance. Like one that surrounds a big football game, yet, there is never any game to read about! I mean, the big event takes up like two sentences. What’s up with that? If I’m going to read a sports romance, I want to read about the sport in it's entirety, not as an after thought. I want the two to commingle and intertwine better than a genetic helix. And Sarah Curtis did just that! She did an excellent job describing the poker game to her readers. She not only provides you with a helpful list of "Poker Hand Rankings" and a "Glossary of Poker Terms", but she makes it feel like you, the reader, are sitting at the table in the heat of the game. I really appreciated the fact that the romance and the poker game went hand in hand. One wouldn't have been complete without the other.

You will be All-In with this one.

It’s a wonderful ride with a sweet possessive Alpha HERO! What started out as a "vacation fling" quickly turns into something more, give or take a few mishaps ;)

Ohhhhh…. And Chapter 25 *squeal*
I foresee good things!
NICO.... come to mama ;)

Ohhh OH OH! And the sobriety test! I want to play that game w/ Alec! ;)

If you’re scratching your head right now like, WTFreak, I’d suggest you just go read it. It’s worth it!!!

Alex quote I LOVE, just for fun ;)
”My only excuse is since walking into this room and seeing you in this sexy-as-fuck dress, my dick has been running the show, and it's not nearly as intelligent as I am." He gave her a thoughtful look, his eyes growing heated. "Or, maybe, it's the smarter of my two brains. Seems it has the right idea about keeping you close so no one else can intrude on its property.“

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
WHAT IS THIS!!!

"Her brother owes one-hundred grand to the mob...

River does the only thing she knows how to do to win that much money...
Play poker.

...after the famous poker star catches her from falling, he decides he's never letting her go."

Tell me that does not sound fantastic!!!

4.5 Poker stars!

I want to have my own Prince of Poker "Alec".

"This little slip of a woman had fallen the mighty Prince of Poker, and he hadn't even f*cking cared. In fact, his heart soared.

He volunteered for a Bachelor's auction for the sake of charity. "Nothing physical had ever come from the auctions but the thought of wasting time on a woman who wasn't River, even for charity, felt wrong."

That's what I am talking about people! They've known only each other for two days but HE knows SHE'S what he wants. Not only in his bed but he wants to own her soul and heart too.

My favorie part is when he gave her a piggyback ride because he cares about her feet hurting. And the h made him blushed twice. Isn't that adorable?? For me, it is! *swoon*

As for the h, she has a habit of overthinking and analyzing situations (just like me). Although, I got a bit only a bit annoyed because of her yo-yo tactics. Having second thoughts and third about the H. But hey, I also love the h. I only felt that because I wanted them to be together. I was rooting for them.

So, did I enjoy did? Heck yeah! I loved it :) More book boyfriend for me. haha. And that epilogue is awesome.

You have a new fan in me Ms. Curtis.

Now I wanna play poker ....review to come

Is it possible to truly love a book? To get so sucked into it that you feel like you totally know these characters that are flying off the page? This story did that for me. I was in such a book funk until I got this little pretty on my kindle!

River was a kick butt h for me. She has spunk and a sass and was smart and funny. I loved her. And seriously guys. I rarely like h in most books but I loved her ugh seriously. Anyway let's move on to the wonderful and sexy Alec and man I can't even explain how much I'd play poker with him. Not only did it have Alec who basically stole my heart but it didn't have over the top pointless drama. It had a simple flow to it. It didn't feel forced and or rushed.

Ha it was seriously an awesome book with kick butt characters

Definitely in my top books so far this year.

4.5 stars!! Another hit by Sarah Curtis!! She knows how to write an amazing hero and never fails to do so. Once Alec met River, he was All In. I loved everything about Alec. My only small complaint would be that River took way too long to come around and quit pushing him away. Anyone that knows me knows that I'm way harder on heroines. It's not that I didn't like River, I did. I just wanted her to stop keeping Alec at arms length a little quicker. I absolutely adored the epilogue. I HOPE that Nico will be getting his own book too. I just know when he falls he's going to fall hard. So Sarah I'm kindly requesting that you write fast please lol.

River's brother is in trouble and needs help. He is in debt and needs her to play in a poker tournament. They are the kids of a famous professional poker player but River never wanted to follow in her father's footsteps like her brother Royal. But she has dabbled when needed but she craved stability in her life that she felt she didn't have in childhood. She runs into Alec Throne, the Prince of Poker, at the airport and again at her hotel. She had a crush and considered him a idol until she saw the money, fame and women changed her view of him. So even though she is attracted still she will not let him get in the way of her mission to save her brother from his debts and doesn't trust him enough to open her heart.

Alec Throne is considered the King of poker having amassed one of the most moneyed player of the game. He is attracted to River and realizes she is the daughter of the famous Frank "King" Kingston. He is intrigued by her poker face as well as being attracted to her and wants to get to know her even though she tries to keep her at arms length. When he finds out her trouble with her brothers debt he will help her and prove to her that what they have isn't just a game.

I have to say I loved the whole poker aspect of this even though I am not a player or really understand it all but it gave a great and fresh background to the book. The only problem for me is the heroine which shouldn't surprise anyone. My frustration was with her stubbornness and her fighting the relationship to the very end. I liked Alec and thought he was good for her. Her brother was one that needed to man up and I didn't like how she had to come to his rescue especially when he kept putting her in that position. So not a favorite but still a enjoyable one.

4.5 stars!

Okay, I gotta admit, I begged the author for an ARC of this one. I love gamblers. It probably goes back to growing up with Kenny Rogers on my mom's 8-track, or spending my late teens & early twenties working in casinos and living 90-miles south of Vegas(which I visited every chance I got!). I also had a huge crush on Jack Shannon, (a recovering gambling addict/underdog lawyer character from a short-lived 90s TV show starring Jamey Sheridan.)

Alec Throne is no underdog, but he is sexy as hell, and when he runs into River at the airport on the island where they've both come to enter a high-stakes game, he knows exactly what he wants.
I love that Alec was 'all-in' from pretty much that first second. He played his cards well right down to the end. (see what I did there? hehehe)

River was a bit more frustrating. I liked her, but I did get impatient with her a time or two, but hey, without a little give and take, it wouldn't be much of a romance, now would it? River's brother, Royal, also pissed me off almost as much as he did Alec, but he did come around in the end.

Sarah Curtis is aces at writing hot, hot, HAWT dirty-talking Alphas, and in Alec, she outdoes herself. Highly recommend this to all contemporary romance fans who like low angst and a LOT of steam.

***I also loved Nico and he BETTER get his own book, because daaaaaamn! (are you listening, Sarah??!)

All-In was the first book in the Gamblers series by Sarah Curtis. It was also my first book by Curtis.

River Kingston was the daughter to a late professional poker player. She didn’t play professionally until her older brother got into trouble owing the mob over $100,000. She had one shot to help him, the Omega One elite poker tournament in Eden Island.

Alec Throne was a famous professional poker player. He was well known, gorgeous and a billionaire. He was also never seen with the same woman more than once and didn’t intend to make any changes. He met River at the tournament when she ran into him, literally.

Curtis built up the initial meeting and chase, making it interesting and fun. It was also educational while learning the ins and outs of the poker world - a world I knew nothing about but thoroughly enjoyed.

In the end, it was a fast paced, steamy and entertaining read. I also loved the secondary characters and can’t wait to read Nico’s story next in Bad Beat.

Sarah Curtis is one of my favorite authors. She writes her men like the gorgeous alphas I love, plus she has strong heroines that you always root for.
This book was no exception. Alec and River are so great together. They (along with Sarah ;)) made me interested in poker which I've never cared about. Lol. They're sexy and hot together. Add in a little suspense and you've got yourself a great read.
Completely safe, no cheating. Do yourself a favor and pick this up! You won't be disappointed.

All-In was such a fantastic read! I was hooked right from the prologue and loved the chemistry between Alec and River. You could feel it immediately between them. I loved the backdrop of the poker tournament as it added a level of intrigue and tension throughout the story. I loved River as a heroine, she was flawed and made mistakes, but she felt human and sympathetic. She was smart and she wasn't a pushover. Alec was a typical alpha male used to getting what he wants, but I loved how devoted he was to River. He never wavered on how he felt about her.

Over all I seriously enjoyed this book and wholeheartedly recommend to romance fans looking for one seriously hot read

For a poker player she was very quick to put all her cards on the table and she was so transparent and honest with him right off the bat so I was a little baffled in that regard:

- Like how she admitted she basically fan stalked him her whole teen years because of his legendary poker status and had a deep crush. Saw him photographed with leggy brunettes. Side note: Normally I hate this, but it was limited to her teen years at 13 and she hasn’t searched for him online for years. She’s dated too, so we don’t have a pining virgin saving herself, so I was cool!!
- How her brother is in $100K debt with the mob so she needs to do well in the professional poker tournament and help him out. I mean she tells him this, practically still a stranger, on the night they meet.
- Admitting who she was, and her name, so he knew she was the daughter of a famous poker player.

But, but even if he has been with loads of women *eyeroll* in the past, hero is 8 years older 32 to her 24, and is a hundred percent the main pursuer. It’s not like he knew she existed until he saw her so I could deal with it and the small mentions that indicated that. The only really annoying thing was this whole “he’s wanted by everyone” aura women had around him. Victoria was an unnecessary character imho - she was just there to add weak OW drama since she’s not even an OW, but a friend. Heroine wants to have a casual vacation fling whilst they are participating in the poker tournament, but it takes him less than a few hours to figure out he wants serious, serious, serious with her gunning for marriage since he saw her at the airport and was struck by her presence. He falls for her very quickly.

Damn that felt good! *happy sigh*

Well first of all let me tell you how bad my life is right now- 1, My god damn computer is not working since last week( i know,i know how much it sucks)
2, My freaking exams are on the way😒 "."
3, I have got 8 assignments pending ( yes i am lazy like that)
4, my personal life is right now a battle field! ( I did'nt start the battles tbh)
5, last but not the least i have'nt read a mind blowing read since January( a mind blowing read for me is like The Golden Dynasty by K.A) and i feel like i have run out of good romances! And for a freakin book addict( well to be exact romance addict but whatever) like me it is the biggest deal out there !!!
So whenever i read a book who deserves more than 3 stars, i go crazy like dancing, crying and thanking god(like God does'nt have anything better to do than providing me good romances) crazy.
P.S- i am using G.R from phone and it sucks here too!
Well, enough of my rambling and pity story of my life- now on the book -
First of all a big thanks to Carvanz for recommending this goodie :D (plz keep recommending sweety <3)
Tbh i will be biased as this book had a possessive hero and they are my weakness. I won't even read the blurb if the book have a possessive hero.
but seriously book was really good.
The characters were well built, they had humour, seriousness and hotness which forced me to continue to read the book.
I loved the couple and their chemistry. I loved how Alec was a gonner from the first meeting and River was a sweety.
The book had a great pace acc to my taste and their was no stretching chase. i loved that. And that epilogue * again happy sigh*
So overall good and a worthy read :)

River Kingston never wanted to follow in her famous poker player father’s footsteps. Financial security is her game and the only gambling she does these days is in her client’s portfolios. When her older brother Royal gambles his way into debt with the mob, River is forced to come out of hiding and play in the Omega One-a large stakes poker tournament in the Bahamas-in order to pay off his debt. River never expected to come face to face with her teenage crush, the world renowned poker player Alec Throne…nor catch his undivided attention. Now, River has two problems. She has to save her brother from the mob and save herself from a man who has decided he’s all-in to her.

I have enjoy Sarah Curtis’ writing since her debut romance contemporary-Alluring. Curtis has a knack for writing engaging alpha males who aren’t annoying and interesting storylines with unusual elements. With that in mind, All-In wasn’t what I expected. Predictable and formulaic, I was disappointed by the lack of drama and humor that Curtis’ books usually contain. Pretty straightforward plotting leads this heavily character driven story on a one way path towards the happily ever after with very little conflict or obstacles to overcome. Dual points of view help to give readers insight into our main characters though I felt the heroine fleshes out far better than the hero. His characterization is very stereotypical with his possessive dialogue and actions.

Alec Thorne is a rich alpha caveman but for the right person and River seems to be that person. There is a sense of insta-lust on his part as he begins to get all growly and possessive towards her at their first meeting. When he sees her again that same night, his possessiveness comes roaring out-evidenced in his ordering dinner for her and demanding another date the next day. I liked that River wasn’t completely on board with Alec’s high handedness though she gives in right after scolding him.

“I can’t believe you just did that. What, am I two? Unable to think and order for myself?”

River Kingston isn’t in need of saving. She isn’t poor, uneducated, downtrodden, or caught between a rock and a hard place. She’s in a tricky situation but it’s nothing she can’t handle. Intelligent, witty, and skilled in poker, River is more then able to hold her own against Alec.

“First off, I’m quite capable of taking care of myself. I’ve been doing it for a long time.”

I liked the idea of River. This no-nonsense financial advisor who is very family oriented, has a dry sense of humor, and plays a wicked game of poker starts out strong. But that River isn’t seen for very long as she is quickly absorbed into Alec’s orbit. I grew bored as she begins to dance around her attraction to Alec. She constantly reminds us and herself that Alex is a known womanizer and she doesn’t want to be another notch on his belt. At the same time, she keeps referring to their time together as a vacation fling and claims to not want any commitments from him. Then she shows jealousy towards pictures of Alec with the same woman numerous time and wants his promise it’s just her (River) in the picture. She gave me whiplash.

The romance is the main focus and builds very quickly as Alec chases after River and she allows herself to be eventually caught. I really wish Alex had been more vocal in his reasons why River was the one for him. We know on River’s end she’s always had a crush on him and spending time with him has inflamed that crush. All we hear on Alec’s end is how she’s the one and she’s so sexy. We know she physically affects him but that seems to be it. The love scenes are hot and steamy but physical based. There is nothing that convinces me this couple is truly falling in love. As all of this takes place in less than a week, it really feels rushed.

All-In is a fast simplistic read that doesn’t tax the reader with overly complicated plotlines or characters. It’s one of a million other over the top romances that takes no risks and does nothing to stand out. I did enjoy the professional gambling element but was disappointed in the weakness of the main conflict. I expected more time to be devoted to it as that’s the story’s premise but we only get two scenes and one of them goes completely off script.

All-In is the first book in a new series by Sarah Curtis. We have the story of River Kingston, the daughter of a professional poker player. She and her brother Royal grew up knowing poker as a part of life. River is as good as a pro, but she has opted for a more stable life as a financial analyst. Her brother is a professional player, but he has had a streak of bad luck and needs River’s help to get out of debt or face the consequences of not paying back the mob. Royal is the only family that River has left so she agrees to help him by entering a professional tournament. She only has to place third and he’ll be covered.

Life is a combination of skill and luck and that’s what brings the Prince of Poker, Alec Throne into her life. As luck would have it, she bumps into the very handsome Alec upon her arrival at the airport. She doesn’t think much of it but he remembers her and is delighted to see she’s at the same resort as him.

Alec has his sights set on River even though she does not want to get involved with a professional poker player. She tries to convince herself that this is just a vacation fling. Alec has other ideas.

I loved the banter between Alec and River. They could be professional without being stiff and when they dropped their poker faces, they were fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I’m looking forward to the next one from Sarah.

One of my favorite Goodreads reviewers rated this book five stars and she’s hard to please. So of course, I needed to read it. I admit that I found the beginning of the book a bit slow because all of the books I’ve been reading recently are written in the first person. However, by the time I was twenty percent into the book, I was literally ‘all-in’ (lol). Who would have thought that poker romance could be so smokin’ hot????? If you’re into Alpha Males, then you’re going to LOVE Alec Throne. Holy smokes! There’s always something wrong with an alpha male book boyfriend but I really couldn’t find one fault with the poker prince. My goodness, the things he did for River Kingston will make you swoon and I’m not even talking about the hot, steamy sex scenes. By the way, my cheeks are still red from reading those scenes. This was an awesome story that surprised me in so many wonderful ways!

This book had a H that was EVERYTHING!! I loved him and his caveman ways. There was no pretense and the characters were pretty open about themselves. I admit skipping the gambling scenes bc they were boring. There was also a scene where the H had his hand in an intimate area of the h and then he gets up and starts touching the food without washing his hands. Yuck!! in addition, I was bothered by the end where the h dresses really well for her meeting and ends up ruining her entire outfit by spilling a latte on herself. Why couldn't she have that moment where she looked in control? Anyway, I enjoyed this one bc the H was PERFECT from the very first scene. Looking forward to Nico's story.
