Dear Killian, Those two words start something I wasn't intending - something I wasn't looking for.
Dear Jersey, When every battlefield leaves me feeling alone, only letters from her give me peace.
**Each book in the Love Letters series is short sweet and to the point. Has new couples for each short story. Complete stand alone. If you're looking for depth, this series isn't it, this is about a quick fast love.
Krystal writes as USA Today Bestselling Author KL Donn. Born and raised in Alberta, Canada, she has over 50 published books in differing romance genres. She enjoys making her readers cry as they go on a deep journey of love and loss through each book.
Experiencing her own insta-love at 17, Krystal has been with her husband for 18 years and they share 4 beautiful children together.
Fun facts about KL: Perpetual romantic. Coffee addict. Sarcasm lover. Give her an action flick over a romance. But a romance book over action. She’s weird like that. Did she mention coffee addict? Closet shopaholic. Beach lover. Coffee addict, it bears repeating. Again. Husband obsessed. Hers that is, you can keep yours. Mom of 6, well 7 if you count the husband. Oh and 2 of those are a cat & dog, that are confused about their species.
This was actually very cute and sweet. I love romance stories that start off with letters, emails and texts. I love how they develop this connection without actually seeing each other and I enjoy reading the letters.
This did remind me of one of my favorite books with the same premise.
Jersey Gunner is a elementary school teacher whose Dad ask her for a favor. Her father the General ask for her and some people she knows to write to navy soliders that don't have any one back home. She reluctantly agrees and blind picks Captain Killian St James to write to and will let her class pick from the others.
Killian is a solider about to retire and has received letters for lonely soliders before but never answered them before but something makes him open his unexpected letter. He is pleasantly surprised and writes back and so begins there getting to know each other exchanges and enjoying something unexpected.
This was such a sweet read. I loved the couple. I loved reading their letters and thoughts. It had a good hot moment since it was a short read. It had a wonderful epilogue. I just loved it and the sweetness.
What a fantastic short story! Extremely low angst, instalove(through letters), and safe as can be!
Killian was an amazing hero who is totally book boyfriend material! He was a sexy, mature military captain. His sweetness was off the charts. He knew immediately from Jersey's letters that she was different.
Jersey was quirky and fun. The kinda girl you want to hang out with. She had an instant connection with Killian and she didn't second guess writing to him and being herself.
~no cheating ~no ow/om drama whatsoever ~no pushing away ~not a lot of steam but it was very short ~virgin heroine -hero was NOT a virgin but he said it had been a very long time since he was with anyone else. So not a manwhore! ~two cute epilogues 3 years, then 2 more years out.
If all these books are like this, I will be first in line to snatch them up!

I thought sending letters to each other was very sweet. They felt the connection and the pull towards each other. Short maybe but sweet and enjoyable. Plus it has 2 epilogues . Happy me :)

I really wanted to like this. It’s short and sweet with absolutely no OP drama and features an H who isn’t a manho. However it was a little too sugary sweet and the grammar was just not good. Fragments, missing commas, and word usage mistakes put a damper on enjoyment for me. I wish I could just ignore them, but I can’t
I’m so SO glad I decided to read this beauty today, I never expected it to be as amazing as it was.
The whole storyline had me amazed, I love the thought of doing that, being there for someone who’s at war protecting the country that has no one to talk to. It’s a beautiful story.
It’s a short and extremely cute insta love story. One that’ll make your insides melt from all the adorableness.
I’ve never read a book from this author before but if her books are anything like this one is, I’ll definitely be reading more.
Short read ratings are difficult. Some authors pull it off better than others and being a book addict I want my fix fast. I liked my second read by Ms. Donn (Canadian) enough to mark her as a favourite. The story has a cute feel but thankfully with sex and an expected HEA. My mood today requires more of her 'Love Letters' series.
Mercy me! This short novella was perfect! The right amount of sweet and smut! KL Donn have quickly become my favorite author. This is the story of Jersey, a 3rd grade teacher who pen pals a solider named Killian. It becomes so much more than that very quickly. This is an absolute must read!
Random purchase and super short read. This started off fine but I got really salty towards the end. Sure, they've been writing to each other for a few months and you can get to know someone quite a bit that way. No problem. They jump into having sex as soon as they meet in person. Again, I have no issue with that.
MY PROBLEM is they are in the heat of the moment (they should have discussed this sooner), and she asks him to wrap it up and he says he's clean and hasn't had sex in a long time, I don't wanna blah blah blah. She capitulates. 🙄💀.
THEN she says she's not on the pill. Then the dude goes "I'm not getting any younger" and she MURMURS "Okay".
Fuck that.
Multiple epilogues for a short story and of course, she's got kids.

Dear Killian, Jersey is socially awkward, she's quirky in an adorable little package but you will love her. One letter changes the course of two individuals lives, one letter causes two people to become one. Fate, soul mates what ever you want to call it Killian and Jersey are it. I loved every moment of this short story of two people who connected when they needed it the most without knowing it. Perhaps doing a favour for the General isn't such a bad thing?
*** ARC read, an honest opinion given. Loved every letter, every word written within Dear Killian.
This was a cute read. The reason for 2 stars is because you didn't do your research. 1.) Fort Meade is an Army Base, am not saying that Navy personnel is not stationed there, but not in large numbers, since it is an Army Base. 2.) Remember, Navy is water, when they fight it's by ship, there are exceptions to this 3.) Private is Army Petty Officer is Navy. There is a lot of other things, but you get the picture. Am not pointing this out to offend you and any way, I just think our Military deserves respect and getting a lot of information wrong (some mentioned) could be considered disrespectful by some.
The thing I liked most about this short story was the nice formatting. The chapter headings were lovely! It did have a couple of proofreading issues, though.
I like Epistolary stories - it's one of my favourite tropes - but this story didn't exactly work for me. Way too heavy on the insta-love. And I'm not a fan of May/December romances in general, but ESPECIALLY not with innocent/virgin heroines like this one. (And why did she have to be so tiny, too? It's weirdly infantalising). Anyway, not my thing, but I'm sure others will love it.
New middle school teacher starts writing to a nearly retired Navy man. She gets her class to write to other servicemen. They connect through letters and packages.

Dear Killian de KL Donn Serie Love Letters 1
Argumento:
When General Gunner asks his daughter, Jersey, to spearhead the writing of a few letters to deployed servicemen, the third-grade teacher reluctantly agrees. She chooses to write to Captain Killian St. James; her students will write to other servicemen with no families.
For Killian, this is the last deployment before retirement; he’s received letters for lonely soldiers before, but he’s never opened them. Still, he opens Jersey’s unexpected letter and finds himself laughing at the worst/best letter he’s ever read. He appreciates her honesty and chuckles over her awkwardness; he finds her attitude refreshing and decides to write back.
Jersey and Killian keep up a correspondence, learning more about each other, and come to look forward to receiving their letters in the mail. Then Jersey sends some pictures along with a letter and . . . nothing. Jersey wonders why the sudden silence and hopes nothing has happened to Killian. But as time passes and there’s nothing but silence from the captain, the despondent young woman wonders even as she tries to move on.
What did happen? And how will Jersey react when she finally knows the truth?
A short story built around military service with a quirky, awkward young woman and a deployed Navy captain who tumble into a pen-pal friendship that quickly grows into something more. With no questions left unanswered, it’s timely, thoughtful, and sweet. Readers are likely to find this one leaves them with a smile and a bit of heartwarming satisfaction.
This is your perfect love story. Instead of it being love at first sight it is love at the first letter. Jersey is an elementary teacher and he is in the Army. Jersey is asked to send a letter to a soldier overseas that has no family. She's not sure, how strange to write to someone you've never met but decides to anyway. Killian has only six months until he comes home. He has received several letters from people in the past but he doesn't need anyones sympathy so he tosses them. This letter is different, not sure why, but what the heck I'll read it. Upon reading he's not sure what to think, this chick is kind of quirky but she brings a smile to his face and that's something I haven't done in a long time. Killian writes her back and Jersey can't believe it when she sees his letter in the box. They strike up a very special and romantic relationship through the letters and when Killian comes home he cannot believe how lucky he is. She's everything he's ever wanted and more. This is my first book by this author. I am very glad I found her books.
This is a short instalove romance between an elementary school teacher named Jersey. She is asked a favor by her father to join a adopt-a-soldier program. She is asked to write to a guy in the military that didn’t have anyone back home. Jersey starts writing to a Captain in the Navy named Killian St. James.
Killian gets a letter from Jersey. He opens her first letter she wrote to him and he fell for her humor and her kind words. I wish this book would have been longer and there would have been more letters back and forth getting to know each other. You learned about Killian’s life in the military but you didn’t find out anything personal about him. When he returned home to her they didn’t date or just hang out together getting to know more about each other. I liked the sweet story and how they met through her writing ✍️ to him. I just wish the book would have been longer.
I adored this book, absolutely devoured it. These two *sigh*, relationship goals all the way. Her dad's in the military and he asked if she, some friends and/or her students could write to some soldiers. She decides to write to a Captain, funniest damn letter ever, seriously I totally get her quirky humor....and so did he. These two with their back and forth *sigh*, the whole story just warmed my heart, such a feel good read.
Psst....we also get babies, because Killian doesn't want to wait, says he's not getting any younger. Love the Epilogues.....relationship goals all the way.
Time and space can't deny a love that is meant to be.
KL Donn has woven a story of love so beautifully that the reader can't help but smile! The love that is found between The Captain and J moving and poignant. One never knows where a simple note with no expectations may lead.
If you want a story that will make you believe in love and feel good then Dear Killian: A Shorty Story is for you!
This was a very sweet insta love story, I really enjoyed the quirky nature of Jersey and how she connects with Killian.
I think the book could’ve done without the neighbor, as it really just seemed like a forgotten storyline that needed a quick resolution with him moving out.
4.5 stars This was exactly what I've been craving. I'm a sucker for stories that have emails, letters, and texts. And this was everything I loved. Even though it was short it still felt like it had some depth to it. The only thing that I wanted more of was the neighbor...I felt like there was something to that and I missed it
