Disintegrated

Heart hammering, palpitating through her chest, dilated pupils, sweaty palms and a flowing river of salty tears… She had been here several times too many. The panic engulfs her as she shakes violently with fear and an uncontrollable nausea sets in with each shriek overheard. The bellows echoed up from the lower level family room downstairs. Mom and dad were fighting again, it was nothing particularly new. But each time it happened, she would slip into a debilitating panic, paralyzed with horror. Mom’s knickknacks crash to the floor and shards of glass go soaring through the air. It was approximately 2:30 in the morning on a school night when Blaire awoke to a horrific and petrifying disturbance in the once safe place she called home.
