This year I reread the Old Testament in chronological order. This is the second year I've read it that way. It re-inforced everything I learned last year and I am slowly getting a better grasp of the order of events, especially through the prophets, and how each book relates to the others.
For my fuller review here is my review of the whole Bible.

Today I finished the Old Testament portion of reading through the Bible. I have learned so much about Gods character, Jesus, and God’s amazing sovereignty and mercy.
As a follower of Christ, I couldn’t help but see Jesus in so many places of the Old Testament and I look forward to reading more commentaries to see what I may have missed! I still have so much to learn and I can’t wait to dive back into some of these books and dig deeper!

The Bible is life changing.

Well it only took me just over nine months, but I have finished reading the entire Old Testament (the Hebrew Scriptures, translated in English). My goal is to eventually read every major scripture of every religion in order to sort out my beliefs. I'll move onto the New Testament sometime soon, and then the Qu'Ran, followed by the Vedic literature and the Pali canon.

The Old Testament is the type of book that is a bottomless well of richness. It is written so that you internalize it and see your own life in it. It's full of verses that are quotable, beautiful, puzzling, and vindicating. I would definitely like to read it again sometime.

Biblical morality is usually characterized as being extremely strict. This is true to an extent, but it also illustrates how difficult it is to hold oneself to a high standard and illustrates very excellently I think the inclination towards selfishness that dwells within everyone. So even though the morality of the Old Testament is strict, it is also sympathetic of human failings. Even Moses and David commit really terrible deeds, and they are supposed to be among the most righteous people ever! But God still loves them. The Hebrew Scriptures are indeed strict, but not at all devoid of warmth.

It seems a little odd to give a star rating to the Old Testament, especially not all five, but if I am truly honest about it, it wasn’t a particularly enjoyable read, nor was it always interesting. Mainly because it can be very repetitive and hard to follow. Some books I just kind of skimmed. But not only is it an important historic and cultural tome, a knowledge of it is essential for understanding the gospels. And after all, it is the Word of the Lord. I will certainly read it again someday, especially perhaps the Catholic version. Although probably not from end-to-end like this time.

An amazingly awesome collection of Jewish scriptures. Multiple authors over thousands of years, the Old Testament is truly a masterpiece. The main way that God communicates to His people is through His written word, and I was more than willing to read every last word. And I’m so glad that I did, one of my main life goals has been accomplished. And I’ll finish this review with the last verse I read in psalms-
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!

There is never any better book to read than the Holy Scriptures. Truly, they contain the answers to ANY and ALL of life's problems. And it just inspires you and uplifts you when you read it. It just does. I read daily, as my "first thing in the morning" routine and it seriously sets such a good tone for the rest of my day. I'm so thankful to have the scriptures to study!

Within a vastly different context than the New Testament or other books of scriptures, I was almost surprised at how often I found Jesus. I found him in the stories and lives of the patriarchs, in the wonderings of Israel, and in the writings of the poets and prophets. This book points to and testifies of Jesus Christ

The Old Testament is part of the inerrant, inspired, infallible Word of the living God. I have been reading the Bible through [Old and New Testaments] every year since 1974. I understand more every time I read it. I am blessed more each time. I am humbled, convicted, convinced, comforted and informed.
Blessed again.

Hard to believe I’ve been reading the Bible daily for over a year now. Just finished Old Testament. Great. I hear the New Testament’s even better…
