Ashlyn has spent the last few months traveling the realm and reveling in her calling as Erede. She and the Knights are closer than ever and she basks in their love and support. They are everything she has always wanted in her Consorts; honorable, protective, fierce, loyal and they adore her for herself and not her exalted position.
But she is once more pulled towards danger and as she journeys to the oasis city of Solei it becomes obvious trouble is abound. Amidst powerful forces and dangerous foes she discovers a new threat even more menacing than she could imagine.
As Ash and her knights move further on their journey the readers are given a bit more insight into the government system between priestesses, knights and senators. In this new desert land people are going missing. All different ages, sexes and walks of life. There are no connections other than they are all people, and all disappearing without any trace. Add in a jealous ex lover of a priestess, hinky government agents, a boisterous family and some relationship decisions and Ash is feeling overwhelmed.
Thanks for the insight on the government. I still have questions but not as many lol. New Knight stations are alluded to, new powers revealed and that one step towards understanding got bumped 4 steps back lol. Again with the stars and no reference, we really need some priestess history here to help us out. The best part about new books is the new worlds revealed inside them. I want to know more about this world! The building is so slow compared to the story line they has hit the ground running. :)
Ash and company continue their journey guided by the goddess seemingly to flush out the corruption. They investigate a disturbing amount of missing persons and things are definitely worse than they thought.
I have the same is with this one as I did the first. A pretty interesting story thst loses a lot of it's appeal because of the lackluster relationships and spicy scenes. If there is ever a book 3 I may read it just to see how the story finishes. I don't much care for Ash and the guys having an HEA.
Better story, like the sex scenes a bit more from book 1. Book 2 takes place seven months after the last one ends so we do see some development in the characters but it tends to boggle the mind that the men have kept secrets about their abilities even after all that time. The story is engaging and made me cry a few times which is always a plus.
I really did enojoy the second book in the Aurum Series, but it could have benefited greatly from better editing. There were mistakes throughout the book that distracted. However, with the entertaining story and the wonderful characters, I can still easily recommend Consorts.
This is another good adventure story of Ashlyn's continuing tour as Erede with her knights. There's family fun, romance, suspense, and danger. We get to know a couple of the knights better and Ashlyn continues to grow as Erede. She proves her strength, intelligence, and her immense kindness. Her time with the knights is both sweet and sexy. Loved her time with the knights! I look forward to book 3.
On a side note I loved the preview of Ava Ryant's upcoming SciFi book: The Praesidio. Cool concept with a badass lead character; a smart, strong, confident female with powerful telekinesis. I will definitely be one-clicking!
