"APEMAN" - A stunning work of literary science fiction - The AIMN In a stark dystopian future, humanity is set adrift in search of a new home. Human “ark ships” carry the embryos that will populate their destination planet, crewed by a team of managers, service personnel plus a few non-human workers." "Gerald St Clare is a bold new voice in Science Fiction! In "Apeman", St Clare writes with a vision so much bigger than the short story form. Encapsulating a complete world, "Apeman" explores the dark face of genetic determinism, and the deep ethical issues involved in genetic manipulation. Rarely does a new science fiction writer of this calibre come along. Apeman is a stunning work of literary science fiction.". - The AIMN

I enjoyed this short story very much. Having read Birthright by Mr. St Clare first helped my understanding of the events, I think. i highly recommend it and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Normally, I do not have much interest in science fiction reading. Apeman is a perfect example of how a good cover can pull in a new reader. I read Apeman from beginning to end. This story is tightly written. The conversations with the Apeman are slick and concise, with nuggets of literary gold for the reader to snatch up and lock away in memory. While not a horror story, per se, there are moments that brought back sensations that I felt during a particular conversation when I first watched the film, "2001: A Space Odyssey" -- a masterpiece by anyone's standard.

Gerald St Clare is an author I will look to for future reading. His writing is compelling and as stylish as Isaac Asimov. I highly recommend this haunting tale.
