The fox ate my cake

My grandson and I live in different states but, with the help of technology, love to read before his bedtime. The fox series is our favorite and we're now on book three. Thank you for these new friends.

The books are great. But what I didn't understand at #2, where does Dana (the cousin) come from? In #1, Joe made it very clear that he had no cousins.
