He died on 3 April 1998 in Mumbai following heart attack

One of the best books I've ever read.

Once again enjoyed reading it. Remembered how the old days were. Making an international call or contacting someone at a distance was so difficult and time consuming. Feels sad that medical science has developed remedies for many diseases but nothing much for coma patients.They still live in a miserable condition.

હરિકિશન મેહતા દ્વારા લખાયેલી એક સત્ય દર્દ ભરી કથા જે "જડચેતન" નામે પપ્રખ્યાત થઇ. અરુણા શાનબાગ જેને તુલસી (નર્સ) નામે દર્શાવેલ તેના પર થયેલા અત્યાચાર અને બળાત્કાર ની હકીકત હૃદય ને સ્પર્શી જાઈ એવી છે.
એ સમય જયારે મેડિકલ વિજ્ઞાન એટલું વિકસિત નહતું ત્યારે હોસ્પિટલ ના વોર્ડબોય એ તેના પર કરેલા બળાત્કાર ની મૂંગી ચીખ કોઈ સાંભળી ન શકતા તુલસી કોમા જેવી ભયંકર નિંદ્રામાં જતી રે છે.જયારે બધા આશ છોડી દે છે ત્યારે માત્ર તેનો મિત્ર કહીયે અથવા સાચો પ્રેમ કરનાર માણસ જે તુલસી માટે ઘણું બધું કરી છૂટે છે. બળાત્કારની ઘટનાઓ અવારનવાર સાંભળવા મળે છે અને તેમાં જેના પર વીતી છે તેનો સાથ આપવામાં ગણ્યા ગાંઠ્યા જ હોય છે.ખુશીની ક્ષણોમાં હાથ મિલાવવા બધા આવશે પણ દુઃખમાં હાથ પંપાળવા કોઈક જ આવશે.

આ નવલકથા માટે પણ એક આખી નવલિકા લખી શકાય તેવો રિવ્યૂ લખાઈ શકે. અકડી, જકડી, પકડી રાખવાની તાકાત મહેતા સાહેબ જેવાં ધૂરંધર નવલકથાકારોમાં રહેલી છે.
બસ ! ખાલી એટલું તો કહી જ શકાય કે લાઈફમાં એક વાર તો સમય કાઢીને પણ 'વાંચજો.'
