He's a witch and able to appear in solid form...sometimes. If only he'd stop disappearing on her. And Pyper needs his help. When she becomes target numero uno and the prime suspect in the shop owner's death, it appears her ghost holds the key to solving the murder. In between stolen kisses, Pyper will need to get to the bottom of all of his secrets if she wants to stay alive and out of jail...and maybe finally get that date he keeps promising her.
Whiskey, Vamps, and Thieves - Selene Charles Meet Scarlett Smith, Southern Vampire Detective...
Not too long ago she was just a regular Southern Belle in love with her soldier, dreaming of a life full of babies and white picket fences.
Now she solves murders and drinks a little type-O on the side. No big deal, she's certainly nothing special or amazing...right? Except every once in a while she senses something stirring inside of her. Something dark. Something ancient. And something very, very powerful. But for now it's just easier to pretend she's nothing more than a vampire with a badge and a gun who just so happens to have the hots for not one, but two different shifters one of whom is her step-brother.
Sterling - Dannika Dark
Zoë Merrick knew nothing about immortals until she was brutally attacked by one and left for dead. When she awakens, a strange power is coursing through her veins. It's not until a warrior named Justus De Gradi walks into her life that she discovers she's a Mage--able to manipulate energy and use it as a weapon. Justus vows to serve as her protector and teacher, but she's still struggling with letting go of her past. Will Zoë learn to accept her fate and trust those around her, or will she fall victim to the predators in the Breed world?
A Spirited Manor - Kate Danley
Grieving widow Clara O'Hare accepts an invitation to a séance in the remote country home of Lord Horace Oroberg. Joining her around the table are Oroberg's cad of a son and his mousy fiancée; her overbearing mother; a renowned scientist; a lovely suffragette; and the dashing young medium, Wesley Lowenherz. But before long, the group's fascination with the spirit world calls up something sinister, and Clara and Wesley are pulled together to solve a murder most foul.
Cast in Angelfire - SM Reine
As a half-angel, half-human mage, Marion Garin is the most powerful witch in the world. Or so she's been told.
Unfortunately, she's lost her memory, and now Marion doesn't know much of anything. Casting magic? Forget about it. It's not an accident, either. Someone powerful wanted to take Marion out of preternatural politics, and they succeeded.
She's told that a man named Seth Wilder could help, but she'll have to find him first. He's been missing for years.
Deanna is a native Californian, transplanted to the slower paced lifestyle of southeastern Louisiana. When she isn't writing, she is often goofing off with her husband in New Orleans, playing with her two shih tzu dogs, making glass beads, or out hocking her wares at various bead shows across the country. Did not expect this compilation of awesome novels for this price!! Honestly, when you buy a book for under a buck, I expect new authors who are just spreading their proverbial wings... This includes all the mistakes and not so well edited parts. This grouping is excellent and contains novels from authors that are gripping, fully developed and top of the line, damn I'm sad to see it end type books. REALLY great grouping and each of the books were those I would purchase independently. Down side is, they are NOT on kindle unlimited, or cheaper to purchase in a whole series so if you want to read the follow-ups, you have to pay for them separately.
Not every book in this collection is as captivating as the last one but they were unique and creative. I enjoyed the variety of the subject matter and they were most well developed in their storylines. Fun to read.
I loved the book. All 5 stories were so different, I did not get bored. Will definitely try to get more books to read from these 5 writers. I highly recommend this book.
WOW!!!! just Wow!! Love the combination of all 5 books.. Want to go read the other books 📚📚 looking forward to see where the stories take these character
I purchased this boxed set for the variety of stories it included. Below is a review of one of them by a favorite author of mine. The rest of the selections are also great reads, so you won't want to miss this set!
<< Review of Spirits, Stilettos, and a Silver Bustier By Deanna Chase <<
Jade stood with hands on hips at the high-end resale dress shop, telling her friend, Pyper, that she was absolutely not to wear the totally sheer dress to her art gallery opening! It just wasn’t professional enough -- although Tyler, who just walked in, thought it was perfection and teased about it being the new café work uniform at the coffee shop she owned!
One of Pyper’s other talents, as a medium, was her ability to see and sometimes communicate with ghosts. More than once it created a potentially awkward moment with people around her. As she tried on a beautiful dress, Jade pointed to the mirror – there was Julius, admiring how she looked in the new dress. Julius was a ghost who, because he had been a witch, was able to solidify for periods of time. She had not seen him for months, and now he suddenly just disappeared again. What was going on? Why was the shop making her feel so uncomfortable?
Jade and Pyper paid for their dresses and went to lunch. But Pyper wanted to go back on her own and get that sheer dress after all. The shop was quiet. She walked back to the dressing area and found the shop owner’s dead body! This was not going to be a good thing for her. Would the police believe that she, the obvious suspect, had not committed the murder? Who could help her get out of this terrible situation?
This series is a spin-off of the Jade Calhoun series and was equally enjoyable! It’s a fun mystery that will keep the reader guessing! It’s fast-paced and well written. The characters are described well, both the good and bad aspects of their personalities. But overall, most are very likeable. I definitely recommend any of this author’s books. She never lets you down!
Just one of the five amazing books in this compilation, Cast in Angelfire, is the book that launched the Mage Craft Series.
I received this book from SM in exchange for an honest review - so here I go.
Angelfire features a familiar cast of characters that almost gives you that homey warm and cozy feeling - if Angels, Demons and Sidhe give you the warm and fuzzies! Marion is the new voice of God (yeah she's the daughter of that bad apple Metaraon). Half powerful angel and half mage, she can't remember who she is but everybody and their brother/sister remembers her and is out to get her. She's made a lot of enemies in her short life and she can't recall any of them. Is her new friend, Lucas Flynn (the only one trying to protect her) an enemy in disguise just looking to turn on her and collect the bounty on her head? Guess you won't know until you read the book :)
Definitely a page turner/on the edge of your seat read because you won't want to put it down until you hit the very end.
I'm reviewing as I read. So far, I've read two books in this set. Here are the reviews to those.
This review is from: Spirits, Stilettos, and a Silver Bustier (Pyper Rayne Book 1) (Kindle Edition) This review is for both the ebook and the audiobook. I have both and listened while driving and read when at home. I just loved this book. To begin with, I wasn't sure how it could ever measure up to the Jade Calhoun series that it's a spin off from. But how could I ever expect anything but excellence from Deanna? She is truly talented. The characters are so lovable, except for that awful female cop! Jade and Kane are also in the book a lot. I can't wait to read the next one. This kept me guessing until the end. I wasn't sure who the killer was. In fact, I hate to admit it but I cheated a little by peeking at the end. lol I know, I'm bad. The audiobook is to die for. The narrator makes it come alive even more. I want to live in this world and be part of it. This is a wonderful read and an even better listen to! You won't be sorry if you purchase both.
This review is from: Cast in Angelfire: An Urban Fantasy Romance (The Mage Craft Series) (Volume 1) (Paperback) Well, I just don't know how to put this review into words. There are no words to do it justice. It was great! What a complex world. There are so many elements to it that it blows my mind. It would take me ten years to write something this good. I have to admit, in the beginning, Marion drove me so crazy. I wasn't a big fan of her because she seemed like she was arrogant but as you get to know more about her, you understand why. It's all I could do not to peek at the ending. Lol. I had no clue why her memory was gone. I love books with the Fae in them. The autumn court painted a vivid picture in my mind. It is amazing how Sara put it into words that your mind's eye can see. Ooh I think you will really love the doctor, Luke.
I already read the Mageri series and through the author Dannika Dark I stumbled across this bundle. Also I've read other books from SM Reine before and even though I liked Cast in Angelfire, it wasn't my favourite of the bunch, or of the books I've read from her before. The novel from Kate Danley, sadly wasn't my piece of cake, I guess mainly because it was more of a historical kind of bookand it didn't click with me, so I skipped it after 30 pages or so. The first book Spirits, Stilettos and a Silver Bustier was rather good but my number 1 book in this group is defenitely Whiskey, Vamps and Thieves. It was tragic, funny, wonderful and now I need to wait for the second book *whine* All in all this bundle is great to get to know new authors and to me they are all solid reads (probably even the historical one, I read the last pages).
I loved each one in its own way. I don't usually buy books that are bundled because in the past I like one maybe two out of all the stories. This one was packed full of wonderful reads. This added so new authors to my tbr pile. Pick it up you won't be disappointed!
Really enjoyed this especially the first three books and already am looking at reading more from Deanna and Selene. Dannika Dark has long been a favourite and certainly the box set is a great way to be introduced to authors.
