Receipt is a collaboration between artist Andy Buck and Carl Adamshick. It is a book that loves names and dialog. Andy Buck's carved, wooden figures alongside Carl Adamshick's poems begin a conversation about friendships and their sometimes peculiar behavior.
Carl Adamshick is an American poet. He received the 2010 Walt Whitman Award from the Academy of American Poets and his work has been published in Harvard Review, American Poetry Review, Tin House, The Missouri Review and Narrative.
"Here comes the whole day with an hour for lunch, one day of paid bereavement and late dusk with a mass of fireflies—the tall night spilling into the Pacific. Here comes everything you worked for and there it goes. And here it comes back—anguish, sorrow, the want for Sunday to last a little longer, the honeysuckle and oak across the street. Here's to death, if it really does exist, for wanting to take it all away from us, to the mind's parade and the projections of memory."
