Une nouvelle de son auteur russe Fiodor Dostoïevski , présentant un personnage ambivalent : un trait de caractère prôné d’ailleurs par ledit auteur dans bon nombre de ses oeuvres.
Fripponeries, humour, déceptions, rage, tendresse, duperie et cruauté, sont toutes des figures présentes dans ce court récit, avec en toile de fond des personnages tourmentés.
Les styles et le ton ( qui revient souvent en apparence humouristique) varient sensiblement, de quoi rendre le lecteur constamment diverti au fil de la lecture.
