Not the best book ever, but definitely does its job explaining the what an earthquake is and conveying the fear that the pandas had. This one is a fictional telling of the real-life event in which Xixi, a giant panda, escaped from a panda reserve when a 7.9 earthquake hit northern China in 2008. This might be one useful for helping younger kids understand (a bit) of what happened in Japan. The back has some useful end papers that explain a bit about the endangered giant panda, earthquakes, and geography.
