A Balancing Act

Rate this book
No matter how calm and boring that her mother and her fiancé attempt to make her life, CPS worker Sadey Collins always manages to keep their lives full of ‘dumb things that Sadey does’ stories for them to share – and stress out about. But healing from gunshot wounds and planning a wedding are currently the small stressors in her life. Adding a child to the mix, investigating a child molester, fighting with her mother and constantly avoiding Chase’s suggestion that she quit her job, Sadey struggles to find a balance between her home life, her work life, and her own sanity. Can she keep herself and her family safe? Can she live up to her new roles as wife and mother? Or will Chase finally get his wish?

I live in the mountains of West Virginia with my husband of 32 years. We have three children and five grandchildren. I've been an avid reader my entire life, but I just recently joined the writing world when I decided to try my hand at a romance novel. I am currently writing the eighth book in my series and I've found that I love writing as much as I love reading. I hope you enjoy my books as much as I enjoy writing them.

A Balancing Act is the third installment of the Sadey Collins CPS series by Christy Wilson. In this book, we once again get immersed in Sadey's chaotic life as she balances her personal and professional life as a CPS worker. This book picks up right where we left off in Amongst the Debris, as Sadey and Chase are thrust into the world of parenthood when Chase discovers he has a daughter and that is not the only life-changing event that comes to light. Sadey gets handed a gut-wrenching CPS case involving the sexual abuse of Mercedes and as always, puts everything she has into helping this family in any way she can. While juggling her many cases, she finds herself questioning how to be a wife, mother, and a full time case worker.

Christy Wilson does a great job making us feel an array of emotions while reading Sadey's story. I often find myself wondering if life is really this chaotic for CPS workers. If so, they are definitely underpaid!! I liked this book, but it did feel a little dated and somewhat stale with the overuse of some of the jokes that we have now seen in every book so far. We need to move on from the Gibb slap please! I also hope that going forward we get to see more of the cases that Sadey investigates, as I feel this one was very heavily about her family and personal life.

The more I read of this series the more I love them. So much sarcasm and laughter. There is never a dull moment for Sadey and Chase but I love the whole family. I can't recommend this series enough.
