America is in the middle of a second civil war. Tens of millions have already perished from famine and disease as the world descends into chaos. When federal government turns to the United Nations to subdue the remaining American citizens, those states that would not bow to this new order, known as The Republic, rise in defense. Nelson and his family are caught in the middle of the contested state of Missouri. With gangs, rioters, federal and UN troops about, Nelson must face the rising storm that threatens his family's freedom. As the storm front rolls in, the family and their friends must defend their stronghold and each other, or be crushed under the heels of a corrupt government. Will Nelson become the citizen soldier the new America needs, or will his own rebellion be vanquished before it can begin? A new defender is needed, who will answer the call before the storm comes?

Nelson, his family, and friends continue to be ever vigilant against roving gangs and the corrupt federal government. As often as possible they seek those groups out far away from their home in hopes of destroying members of those groups and warding off those that would replace them. Being caught in a state that has yet to surrender to the feds or be claimed by the new Republic Nelson’s clan is trying not to attract the attentions of either group. Watson’s third novel in the Forgotten Forbidden America series, Storm Front, is fast-paced and gritty. The need to be prepared to survive in the upcoming winter has everyone mindful of their resources. They can’t help everyone and expect to have what they need for their group. Nelson’s group reaches out to their neighbors to pull together and increase security. On their patrols away from the farm they find that the war between the feds and the Republic are closer to home than they had expected. As with the second book in the series I again ended up hating Nelson. He is an egotistical, moody ass. He is smart and understands what is needed keep everyone safe and alive. But, he is often ruled by his emotions that are on the level of a hormonal teenager. Thankfully, the rest of the characters are more level-headed and counter his instability. 4 out of 5 stars. I look forward the next installment. I received this book for free from the author for review consideration. This in no way affected my opinion of the book, or the content of my review.
Returning to the farm and Nelson's family, friends and allies is like returning to old friends. I know if the situation the series is based on happened in real life, I'd want this group on my side. Very believable and lovable characters and story.
If you are looking for realism in your survival books, here it is.
The Forgotten Forbidden America series will send chills of your spin for the realistic possibilities and how it shows shadows off the world we live in all throughout it. From the economic strife to power hungry politicians, all of it echoes real life. A group of survivors banding together to protect friend and family alike and if your willing to put in the work your welcome to join them, just don't cross them. Once you start reading you will be hard pressed to put these books down. Now there is always something wrong with everything, nothing is perfect. And the only thing I can pick out is these folks must have had Bruce Wayne's budget for prepping. Other than that I really can't find anything else. I have a habit of recommending books to my friends and have them curse me for getting them hooked on yet another series. This is one of those. Do yourself as favor and pick all three up. You will thank me and curse me
If you haven't read the first two books, it's an absolute must otherwise you will find yourself confused. Thomas really knows how to draw you into the story and really get you mentally involved. I found some of the characters quirks rather humorous at times. So much so, that I literally laughed out loud. This story will take you into the lives of family and friends alike who come together to make their own community who fight against a corrupt government. The states have fallen into utter chaos and this group has made strong bonds with each other and fight with and for one another to protect what they love.....family. If you don't have any of the Forgotten Forbidden America series, get the first two books AND this one but read them in order. You won't be disappointed. :) Thanks Tom for an awesome journey full of suspense, joy, and humor.
Yeah, I totally jumped the gun and started reading this as soon as I got it out of the package lol. Each book in the series just keeps getting better and better, more characters and great character development. You grow close to the characters and feel one with the characters. The action and situations are getting more and more intense too. Graphic as well that hits you in your heart in certain situations and things the crew discovers. In a way it is scary because this could very well happen, thankfully im prepared lol, which is why I feel close to Nelson and Matt and Gerald. I also feel a relationship with Bernard, the strong badass grandfather figure. Book 4 is on the way already! CANNOT STOP READING THIS!
If you haven't read the first two books, it's an absolute must otherwise you will find yourself confused. This author really knows how to get you attention and keep it. I loved the bond Nelson and Michelle have and the way they fight to keep family safe. I found myself in this world so easily it was frightening. Families join forces to stand their ground and fight for what's right. Great read. I truly hope there will be more to this story in the future. If not, I am sure Thomas A Watson will bring even greater stories to be enjoyed by all! Thanks for another journey full of thrills, suspense, laughs and yes, even a few tears.
Once again found myself skipping pages to escape the pointless small talk, between far too many people, at one time.
This is a captivating story that paints a frightening picture of globalism run amok, but it could be more detailed if the author would shut these people up for five minutes.
I would love for Mr. Watson to start creating maps for each book. Even the Blue Plague series would benefit from a map of the farm. It would be great to see at the end of each book how far they have come in creating the farm and a area map that helps navigate to all the places Nelson and his crew are headed. This would just add to the awesomeness of this series!
Book 3 continues the ‘cannot put it down’ saga of Nelson and his merry band of patriots. The action is fast moving and you can feel the tension from your reading chair. All I can say is there had to be more installments in the series. Well worth the read and I look forward to other writings from the author.
Love this story, the characters , the humor and especially the detailed tightly written battle scenes. Kudos to the author on a job well done. Ready for the next book.
Highly recommend this one. Intense, fast paced action, and plenty to keep you at the edge of your seat. Thomas Watson creates realistic situations that seem to leap from todays headlines. I can't wait to see what's coming next for Nelson and his crew.
Another great book that keeps you entertained and excited to keep reading. You are on a roller coaster of emotions and see yourself in the story! Cant wait for more!
While I’m not finding myself being drawn into this series the same way that the Blue Plague books did I’m still enjoying reading this series. My only complaint would be that I wish that each of the books in this series were more standalone than I feel they are.
I was hooked from the beginning and couldn't put it down, it was fast paced and action packed and I just loved the characters. The narration was wonderful, and I can't wait to start the next book.
The third book in this series, FFA Storm Front is the most edge of the seat gripping yet! With the world gone down the crapper, the group must defend their friends and families and all that they hold dear even more against those that would take everything, kill them and not even bat an eye! I absolutely loved the action and how the group all works together to protect and support each other. When the SHTF it’s all hands-on deck and my emotions kicked in. Thomas A. Watson writes this story with true feelings and makes the reader feel as if they are really there. This is a well written story of family, friends and survival in a time when all you have each other and those you know you can count on. Definitely not one you want to miss along with the other books written by this author!
Another fantastic installment by this highly talented author. I have yet to read a single book by this author that didn't leave me either wanting to dance on the graves of the bad guys or crying for the good guys. Always extreme badassery when reading Mr. Thomas A Watson!
This series just keeps on getting better and better. I love the way Nelson is able to think out of the box. The family continues to get larger in every way. If you haven't read any of Thomas A. Watson's books you are missing out. From end of the world dystopian to magic to other races to Bruce, he does them all and does them well.
Great book!! Anything this author does is amazing!! No matter what the genre he never disappoints. The characters in all the different series will make you laugh and sometimes cry. If you like being entertained by a great story please check this guy out!!
This series is gritty. It gets dirty where many other prepper/post-apoc fiction is cleaner. It goes into combat, injures main characters, and is just plain closer to reality that most in the genre.
I did it. Thinking I can read just a chapter or two. Heck no, I was sucked in and rattled around til 4 am. Thomas Watson just proves he's a master story teller. I can't wait for his next story and the push through with re-reads until a new one to come out. Big huge thanks to Thomas Watson for bringing so many sleepless nights. Also to Tina Watson, thank you.
I love Thomas Watson he always pulls you into the story and makes you care about our it what is happening. I have read this series twice and cannot wait for the next installment. If you read these and like it check out blue plague and dark titan. Love reading anything by this author.
This story like the ones prior is written with meaning. The author does great work with making you feel for the characters. I hope there is more to come because this is one of the best I have read!
