ASHTON KENNEDY
My life stopped after I lost the love of my life before we even had the chance to begin.
But now my heart has found another reason to start beating again.

ACACIA WINTERS
He’s a walking contradiction. One minute he’s rude and cold, the next, caring and passionate. He enters my life and steals my heart with his deeply engrained scars.
Can he let go of the ghost from his past and let me in?

Please Note: the problem may be with me, not the story. I encourage you to experience it for yourselves and take my opinion as just that - my opinion.

myopinion

I failed to connect with this story. I admit that the plot had tremendous potential, but its execution left a lot to be desired. I think my biggest issue was that I wasn't convinced about the grand love story that was supposed to have been developed in the prequel between April and Ashton. I'm sorry, but it wasn't believable to me. Despite reading the novella, I never once felt that those two were in love. Not to the lengths that I was supposed to believe to get through this story.

It was hard for me to suspend my belief in reality and just become absorbed with the story. There was nothing to connect them and beyond knowing each other's names and sharing a Chemistry class, they didn't even know each other. Never had a conversation. Weren't friends. Didn't hang out on the perimeter of mutual friends. They shared nothing!! So, for me, his grief came off as melodramatic.

The thing is... I expected the grief. They did spend One Night Only together before she passed, but this story made it out like they had a great love that would stand the test of time. A love so deep and so profound that anyone would be lucky to find it. She's haunting him and he's got a room in his home like a dedicated shrine to her. WTH?!

As for Acacia, she was the first character I actually felt real sympathy for. I wonder why the loss she suffered wasn't explored more. It was almost like her loss wasn't as important or as substantial as the loss Ashton suffered after losing his one night girlfriend. Hmmmm... I was hoping for a conversation between them about their mutual loss and maybe about how to accept and move on from it. Sadly, that wasn't in the cards.

Instead, Acacia was sort of a doormat for Ashton and seemed more of a consolation prize. He spent 95% of this book fixated on April. Am I really supposed to believe in their happy ending? Too much time was spent on April and Ashton's suffering over April and it overshadowed anything that he could legitimately be feeling for Acacia. Overall, this story had the propensity to be incredible because all of the ingredients were there, but I needed more in order to believe in it.

I would like to suggest that you first read the novella One Night Only, it's not a requirement but it will set you up for what takes place in One Special Love. I really enjoyed how we get the point of view from Ashton, Acacia and even April. Ashton is trying to deal with the events that happened to him not so long ago and finds his own ways of coming to terms. Acacia has also had a hard past and has her own ways of processing everything, then we have April who is there but not there. I feel for each of them individually and their battles within themselves, you know that they just want what's best for those they care about but at the same time their own emotions are mixed into their decisions and actions. This is a beautifully written story that will pull at your heartstrings and even bring tears to your eyes, I for one needed multiple tissues. I loved each and every second of their story and it makes you think about everything in life both presently and beyond. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

4 Stars ~ to One Special Love by authors Abby Gale and Sienna Grant.
My Rating: 4
Releasing March 2017
Read: March 18, 2017
Standalone ~ however I recommend you read One Night Only, prior.
POV: First-person alternating perspectives
Genres: Contemporary Romance (with a bit of ghost, ;) )

First thing that drew my interest in this book was the blurb. A contemporary romance with a ghost? Yeah, I'm definitely interested.

If you've read One Night Only, which I recommend you do beforehand, then you already know who Ashton is, and who April was. April and Ashton had no relationship prior to their one night together. But in that short time a strong bond was formed. When April died, Ashton was devastated. Being they only spent hours together, it was a little difficult to believe he could be hurting so much; that he could be so grief stricken. Still, I loved the powerful message I received from that book.

One Special Love shows how Ashton is dealing with his guilt and grief. When he can't control his grief any longer, he heads to his family's secluded cabin, where he hopes he could deal better with his pain. The problem though, is that Ashton doesn't deal with it. He believes he should suffer. I thought Aston was a little over-the-top with his behavior. It was difficult to connect with that aspect. The reason I felt it was hard to believe or connect with, was because of the short time he was actually with April. Had they been dating, then this would be a non issue for me. That said, I still loved this story and the journey Ashton and Acacia and even April were on.

Ashton meets a young woman who stirs all types of emotions in him. Good and bad. But of course he doesn't believe he should be happy so he fights his feelings. Even though he can't deny a connection with Acacia, he still does his best to push her way. There was a lot of hot and cold going on with Ashton's behavior towards Acacia.

I liked Acacia a lot. She was spunky and personable and I knew she was what Aston needed in his life. I believed they were meant to be. I believed his experience with April was meant to bring him to Acacia. Acacia was his destiny, not April.

The journey to happily ever after for Ashton and Acacia was not easy. Their HEA seemed like it would never happen until Ashton learned to deal with his emotions. Lucky for him, Acacia was emotionally strong and patient with him. She had her own pain to deal with but she wanted to be there for Ashton. And she was.

The writing in this novel flows well and the pace is steady. Being invested in Ashton and Acacia's HEA I couldn't help but to devour this book quickly. From the beginning I was routing for their HEA but had my doubts at times. I can't tell you how relieved I was that Ashton finally let his grief go.

*I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. My opinions are honest and unbiased.*

This book was really special indeed.
In our everyday lives, do you ever think if someone loses their significant other, how is the other who was left behind.

You'll feel hopeless and can't even imagine how to go on... T^T
You're going to think how to even start a relationship with other. You just can't do that.

But time will heal you...and that special love you lose, will not leave you, it'll even guide you...:)

This story is so meaningful and I loved it :)

I highly suggest reading One Night Only first, it will give you the background for Ashton and April. Ashton is grieving and needed to get away. Acacia thinks Ashton is a jerk but there is something that keeps putting her in his path, she hates him until she realizes that he is hurting and she is falling in love with him. Ashton feels a pull to Acacia but he feels like he is betraying April, he just doesn't know how to say goodbye to her. April thought she would be in peace but she can feel Ashton's pain, all she wants is for Ashton to be happy again. Will Ashton and Acacia be able to put the past behind them to be happy in the future? I loved this second chance for true love story!!

First of all, have you read One Night Only by Abby Gale?! If not, I would suggest you take the 20-30 minutes it takes to read it before you read One Special Love. It's not a requirement, but it definitely fills you in on just what happened to Ashton before he decides to take off to the cabin in the middle of nowhere.

Ashton has just lost someone who has come to mean a great deal to him, in a short amount of time. He's at a cold and dark place in his life, where it seems that is grief is consuming him. It isn't until an unexpected encounter with Acacia that he starts to feel the warmth and light of life again.

I'm not saying Ashton and Acacia's story was easy, they each have their own losses and heartaches to deal with and not to mention Ashton really is a jerk, initially. Thankfully Acacia sees the pain in his eyes and doesn't take the things he says and does personally.

My God! The emotions in this book! My heart broke for Ashton, couldn't even imagine having to go through what he has and then to have someone there for you after you've pushed and pushed her further away at every chance.

Acacia has the patience and understanding of a saint. I love that she wants to help mend his broken hear and that she never pushes him any further than he needs to be at that time.

This book starts out heart breaking, but with each subsequent chapter piecing that broken heart back together in the most beautiful and heart wrenching of ways.

Acacia, Ashton and April's story is so beautifully told, you will need tissues to get you through, but I promise it is well worth the journey and the tears.

This was a superbly written story full of emotions. Ashton lost his love April after a very short time together. Ashton feels gutted and angry at the world. He decides to go to his family cabin to get away from everyone.

Acacia accidentally ends up in Ashtons life. These two act like they hate each other but there is a strong pull. April still observes Ashton from beyond. Acacia seems to be the one to help Ashton heal. This couple goes through alot of ups and downs.

This book gave me such an overload of emotions.

I loved this book!

Was so heartbroken after the first book but this puts all your broken pieces back together!

Ashton is finding it hard to deal with the loss of someone he loved and regretting that they didn’t get more time together. He decides he needs to get away to try and find himself again so goes to his family’s old cabin.

Acacia has not had an easy life but she is doing the best she can and has great support system in her best friend Toby. She works hard even though it is never appreciated by her boss. When she meets Ashton for the first time she thinks he is a total a**hole and prays she never has to see him again.

When the two keep meeting and Ashton comes to Acacia’s rescue one night the pair grow closer. Acacia can see the pain in Ashton’s eyes and wants to help him but will he let her? Can Ashton love again? Will Acacia be willing to wait for him to find himself?

Okay this continues the story of Ashton and him trying to go on from losing April too soon.
He goes to his family's cabin and while in town meets Acacia a girl unlike April but she catches his eye. Acacia doesn't know what to think of Ashton when she first meets him.

Strange things happen, fate brings them together several times.

Is April behind this, is she trying to help Ashton move on, not to forget her but to find love again.
Can be trust his heart to another girl. Can Acacia trust that he is going to be true to her.
Questions will be answered over the course of the book.

Wow, One Special Love was a story filled with love, heart break, and finding peace.

It is beautifully written and held my attention till the end.

Ashton packs up everything to forget about the pain from losing his girlfriend April. He goes to his family cabin to heal, but he doesn't expect Acaica.

I highly recommend this book.

One Special Love was a beautifully written story by two amazing authors, that I loved. This book was heartbreaking but so sweet at the same time. I loved that we not only got Ashton and Acacia's POV but the authors gave us more of April as well. OSL is a continuation to the novella One Night Only, so I suggest you read that book first.

The book picks back up with a heartbroken Ashton, trying to deal with the events of the last few days. Feeling loss, he decides to leave college and heads to the mountains where his parents have a cabin. Once there he has run in after run in with Acacia, a bar manager who even though Ashton is a complete jerk to, she can't help but feel sorry for and wants to find a way to help fix him. Will Ashton keep fighting this pull he feel towards her, or will it be too late when he finally realizes that he needs her in his life?

Ashton buried April, and he is heartbroken. He can't handle his life where it's at, so he goes to his parents cabin to figure life out. Acasia hits his car and slowly starts breaking down his walls. April helps make sure that they find their way to each other. A Continuing Story of devotion, moving on and being content in life . Again you will need your Kleenex. A sweet love story about moving on after a loss of a loved one. You should read One night only, the Novella that introduces April to us first. I am not a big fan of insta love, but it works in this story. You really feel bad for Ashton as he tries to move on from April. Acacia is a strong girl and I love how she brings Ashton back to life. Wow I don't even know where to begin with the book my emotions are all over the place and yep again I'm crying big ugly tears! The book that is jointly written starts off nearly right after Abby Gale's book One Night Only finshes and although you can read this without it it is recommended you read that one first.

Ashton is grieving for someone that he lost so quickly and so unfairly when he was just getting to know her and this has turned him into a grumpy and sometimes nasty man but in reality this is far from the person he is. He just needs someone to reach out to him and love him and help him with how he is feeling at the moment.

Acacia also has experienced loss in her past and that has made her weary of other people and she feels like if she gets close to them then she will loose them but she can't help the connection between her and Ashton even if she thinks he's a dick sometimes.

April is in the background watching the connection between Ashton and Acacia take place she can't communicate how much she misses Ashton or how she knows that Acacia is there to fix him either except for the little notes she makes on the fridge.

This story makes you believe when all else fails that once you have grieved that you can find happiness again and you will find someone that will be there for you and heal you. It also makes me believe that when you have lost someone close to you that they will still be there even after they are gone showing you the way and leading you into the arms of someone they want you to be happy with!

I'm going to start Off by saying that I absolutely loved loved this book. To fully enjoy and understand this story you will have to read the short novella (sorta like the prequel ) "One Night Only " first to grasp the full extent of what is taking place in this book.

In the One Special Love it opens up right after where One Night Only left off and we follow Ashton as he grieves his loss by running away to his secluded place trying to be alone in his grief. Shortly after, circumstances occur and we are introduced to Acacia who in my opinion is one of the strongest most amazing girl and who was such an integral part of this story.

I'm not going to lie this story touched my heart, I cried I sobbed and I was a blubbering mess my heart was torn to pieces yet there were times I wanted to smack Ashton and tell him Wake Up this is not what April would want but .... these two authors were absolutely brilliant on giving us what was needed and also again proving how strong the character Acacia is and after all she has gone through in life was able to bring Ashton to his senses and in doing so we are given one of the most beautiful second chance love stories to date.

That's all I'm saying I know I'm being vague but there's no way I want to give anything away because to me this is one of those stories where you have to experience it for yourself. Don't be scared by me saying how much I cried and was torn because to me this is the works of excellent writing and both Abby and Sienna are absolutely brilliant together I've read each separately also and they do not disappoint.

Please go grab this book it will definitely change the meaning of finding peace and second chances

If you have read One Night Only (which you really need to do before starting One Special Love), it's more than a little fitting that April's death is central to this story.
April's life was cut short by terminal cancer, but that one night she allowed herself to be "a normal girl" with the boy she secretly loved was not enough - for either of them. Their love was just coming into full bloom when her life was snuffed out, leaving Ashton alone in his devastation, and April's spirit hovering anxiously over him.
Ashton seeks solace in solitude in the aftermath of her death, leaving his college life and all it entailed behind. His first encounter with Acacia sets the tone for their angsty relationship, but we soon learn that he is not the only one with grief and abandonment issues. There are some beautiful exchanges between these two, along with some well placed messages from the afterlife and the helpful intervention of Acacia's best friend, Toby.
As they discover what they have is love, they begin the process of mending their broken hearts - a 1 step forward, 2 steps back process which only starts to shift into the correct gear with a little reassurance from April.
Suspend your disbelief and enjoy this story for what it is: a message about the power of love to heal wounded souls. I read this in one sitting, having received an Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for an honest review... and in complete honesty I loved it!

One Special Love finally brought me some peace from Ashton’s and April’s story. It amazed me how connected Ashton was with April in the short time, the one night that they spent with each other. Some may have a hard time believing how could he fall so hard. How can he be so grieve stricken? Things happen for a reason. I just feel that the emotional break was just from the loss to death and the ugly disease that took April away. So he becomes an a*hole. He leaves for a while to get away from the heartbreak that he can not shake. He tries to figure things out. Then he runs into Acacia.

This story is told in a dual POV. I was intrigued with the story because even though April has passed away, she is a huge part of this story within spirit. Really! And it was great. Ashton and Acacia have a hard time getting along. Acacia is just not having all the attitude Ashton brings out. She has her problems, and she has had a tough life. So when she finds out what Ashton is really going through, she starts to soften towards him.

The HEA finally comes through at the end. It takes awhile to get there and I was biting my nails the whole time. I still cried a lot with this emotional story. I loved Abby’s and Siennas work with this book. I think I will need some time to recover. I truly loved this emotional experience. If you can, I would recommend to start with the short Novella to this story. That will help you have a background on Ashton’s and April’s story.

I Voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book

We met Ashton in the previous book called One night Only. He was the guy that April wanted to spend her One night with. April was the girl that he was secretly in love with but because he though she wasn't interested he never approached her. April was dying and he spent her last night with her just getting to know her and spending time with her.

Now Ashton is in pain because April died and he doesn't know how to move on from the pain of losing her.
So he goes to stay in a cabin to work through his feelings of losing her. And then he meets Acacia. A bartender who lost her parents when she was young and not lives her life one day at a time.
She is attracted to Ashton but one minute his rude to her and the next minute he is worried about her. So how can she have feelings for someone like that.

And then we have April who is watching over Ashton and trying to get him to move on with his life. But then again she also feels a bit jealous of his relationship with Acacia but she also wants him to move on and be happy

I enjoyed this story so much. Ashton and April had so little time together but then I also felt that Ashton needed to move on with his life. And then I didn't like Acacia because she was getting to experience everything that April should have experienced.

This story deals with loss and how people deal with it and try to move on with their lives

wow i loved this book after reading one night only (which i recommend you read before reading this one). one night only broke my heart i cried like a baby one special love picks up nicely where the first one left off.

sienna and abby should definitely write more together i felt they both really complemented each other.

story follows Ashton Kennedy after loosing April in one night only he becomes sad and angry so when he meets acacia he's pretty much horrible to her after she hits his truck. so when they meet again at the bar she works at he is still horrible to her as they get to know each other a bit better you start to see Ashton's sweet side come through but he feels guilty for having feelings for acacia cause of April and the short amount of time he had with her. April is in the background in all this watching over the both of them waiting for Ashton to move on. its an emotional book so beware you'll need tissues.

all in all a cracking book i couldn't put it down and can't wait to read whats next from both authors.

A sad and sweet second chance. This is an emotional story, with a great cast of characters in Ashton, Acacia, and April. While the love story centers around Ashton and Acacia, I appreciated April being given a voice in the very unconventional triangle. I found myself drawn to her, and her thoughts and feelings were a nice unexpected touch.
I would definitely recommend reading the prequel novella "One Night Only" to get a better understanding of Ashton and April.
Their beginning, and end, set the stage for this story. With the physical end to their short lived relationship, Ashton finds himself heartbroken and lost. He meets Acacia at a particularly low point, and can't seem to fight his growing feelings for the lonely bartender. Acacia has had to rely on herself for a long time, and she's afraid she might be falling for the cold, angry man struggling with his past. Guidance from an unlikely source may be just what the couple needs...
I really liked this book, and Abby and Sienna certainly pack alot of emotion into this one special book.

When is it time to move on after loosing the one you thought was the love of your life. When is it time to stop grieving and move on and accept that life doesn't end. For April watching the changes unfold it is painful and when she has the chance to help she takes it. For Ashton the loss cuts deep and he isn't ready to let go of April, plagued by guilt for the attraction to Acacia. For Acacia she has felt loss before and now that a love so deep and so true is standing in front of her the chances are it will never happen.

A deeply emotional read with everyone's point of view. Great collaboration well done from the minds of these two awesome authors. Time for them to take their work together and show us what they can do together on the dark side.

I would recommend reading One Night Only Book One before reading Book Two One Special Love. It's a beautiful love story (shortstory). The love between April and Ashton that will forever be in his heart.
One Special Love is about the Ashton and Acacia. Both grieving.
Life is so much more beautiful when we have someone to share it with. Then when death comes knocking at their door, its hard to cope with the loss of a loved one that one cherishes so deeply in their heart. Everyone reacts differently. It takes time for one to let go and move on.
This book was beautifully written. The burdens that Ashton and Acacia had to carry due to the loss of a loved one. I would recommend these two books. Have your tissues ready.
I'm volunteering an honest review for an advance reader's copy.

DISCLAIMER: I received an ARC of this book through Chance Promotions. This is my voluntary review.

First things first, you MUST READ One Night Only before reading this book to fully experience the pain and heartache Ashton is having. The switch between perspectives is so smooth. I love how one character doesn't just pick up where the other left off, they share what they were thinking just before the perspectives change. It plays out so perfectly. And April's thoughts popping in now and then! I loved ever moment of this book. I could not put it down. I ran out of battery on my Kindle (that makes twice this month) and it was worth it. ♥

A beautiful love story, this is the continuation of Ashton's story from novella 'One Night Only'. Although you could read this book as a standalone it is best read after the short prequel as you will fully understand Ashton. The book is beautifully written, characters have depth and it is full of emotion. I wanted to hug Ashton from the first paragraph.

In 'One Night Only'Ashton meets, connects and falls in love with April and then she dies. Thorough 'One Special Love' we share his heartbreak and how all things that remind him of April shattered him further. Ashton goes to his family's mountain cabin to escape and grieve, shortly after arriving he crossed paths with Acacia and they instantly dislike each other. Through events they are drawn together and with the help of ever watching April they find emotions more than hate.

I suggest that you read One Night Only to fully comprehend the story however it is not required. This story absolutely shattered my heart and had me leaking emotions from the first page. I could not put it down as I was so excited and nervous to see what was going to happen next. The plot is awesome and the characters were insightful and were easy to identify with. This is an incredible love story that has all the feels and so much more. My advice, get a box of tissues, a tub of ice cream and sit in a comfy chair away from everyone else and enjoy!

This captivating read follows the sexy Ashton on his emotional journey through grief and finding love again with the beautiful Acacia, since the tragic death of his first ever love, April, in One Night Only. Will Ashton be able to lay the ghosts of his past to rest and will he get his happily ever after?

This beautifully written story will take any reader on an emotional roller-coaster of a journey with it's ups and downs, twists and turns. It explores Ashton's grief and the journey of letting go of his beloved April and then finding Acacia and their almost instantly ignited passion for one another, despite a rocky start.

If you loved One Night Only, then this read is definitely recommended for you.

Oh my...you meet Ashton in One Night Only and see how his life is torn upside down in a short period of time. One Special Love continues with Ashton's story about grief, loss and how one has to learn to survive when they don't want to.

My heart broke for Ashton. In a short period of time he fell in love and that love was shattered when the unthinkable happened to April. Now he is trying to survive and move forward with his life. In an run in with Acacia his life is basically turned upside down once again and Ashton isn't sure if that's a good thing or not. To give you the truest picture of this book might giveaway some spoilers and I don't want to do that. You won't be disappointed with the book at all. Start with One Night Only and then One Special Love.

I truly love the message that this book gave. I felt like it had a true representation as to the grieving process and how someone goes through the process. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to more from the Authors (which are both new to me).

P.S. I loved how April made her appearances in the book.

One Special Night was one of my top 6 reads of 2016 and One Special Love will be one of my top reads of 2017!! If you want a super sweet love story filled with some heartache, this is the story for you! It's one of those stories that really puts everything in perspective and you can take away something from it to adapt to your own life! It's so good! Like so, so good!
