Zeke “Tank” Sherman and Shelby meet at the end of Sifted (A Recipe for Love – Book 2). This is their story.
Home? They say it’s where the heart is. I guess that means I haven’t had one in seven years. A heart or a home that is. And then I met Shelby. She may have been pint-sized, but she packed one hell of a punch. The little pixie, as I liked to call her, shined so bright she left a trail of sparkles everywhere she went. Too bad life isn’t a fairytale, and pixie dust can’t fix everything. The day of her birthday party she showed her true colors, and just like my family back in Liberty Falls she tossed me aside and didn’t look back. At least that’s what I thought until I got that phone call. You know the one. The one you can’t ignore. The one that forces you to do something you never thought you would do. Go home. And apparently, Shelby wasn’t about to let me fly alone.
I never thought that I would write a novel, although my English teacher my freshman year in college told me that he would hunt me down if I wasn’t published by the time I was thirty. Thirty came and went. I was busy being a wife and working mother of two and nobody came looking for me.
I doubt my sister thought she was about to change my life forever when she got me a book of “Mommy porn” for my birthday in 2012, but that’s exactly what she did. After reading the first book in the trilogy, I rushed out and got the other two books. I became obsessed and read the series several times before learning about Fanficiton. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one who couldn’t get enough. The idea fascinated me and I thought, “I can do that.” I was a nervous wreck when I posted my first story, a one shot about my new favorite couple. One story lead to another and then another. My readers encouraged me to write something original, so that‘s what I did. Thank you to everyone who encouraged me. I couldn’t have done it without you.
I love reading, writing, traveling, and spending time with my family.
Tossed was such a good addition to A recipe for love series I was so excited for this couple get a book they first made an appearance in Sifted and I wanted to know more of there background . I do recommend that you read the first two books in the series but if you read this first you wont be lost . Really loved the relationship Shelby and Zeke have it's a instant attraction starting with there love of her car then the more time they spend one another you can just feel the connection they shared then something happened with a mistake . When Shelby and Zeke are brought back together after some upsetting news from Zekes family Shelby come right away to be by his side . I really liked Shelby she becomes very independent and is able to be herself with the hero . Love Zeke when we find out why he has nothing to do with his family my heart hurt it was beautiful to see him rebuild that relationship and be were he loves to be . I hope we get to see more from this family they were such a lovable bunch and I can't wait to see what to come in this series . copy provided for honest review **************************************** hero=10 heroine= 10 secondary characters=10 Chemistry= 10 steam= 6 romance= 5 humor=4 darkness level= 3 action=3 mystery= 4 enjoyment= 10 angst=2 story line= 10 Story ending=10 character development=10 pacing= 10 cover=10 stars= 5 would I recommend this book=yes would I re read this book= yes would I read future books by this author= yes
This was my first Lane Martin book so I had no idea what I was in for. This was a fun, easy read that had a bit of everything. I tortured, lonely veteran meets a Yong vibrant woman who may seem to be happy in her life, though looks can be very deceiving. Things between them don't have enough time to progress when she makes a split second decision that has him walking away. A phone call from the home he fled has him catching the next plane back where a certain little lady casually joins him as the plane is departing. She may not be his but that won't stop her.from supporting him when he needs it the most. Though the fiancé part kind of came out of no where! Bit play along she will! And maybe love will find a way after all. This one is pretty faced paced and there are benefits to starting at the beginning as their are characters that make appearances, this one can definitely be read as a standalone. In my opinion anyway, don't hold it against the author 😁 Well written, with great characters and heartwarming family moments that linger in your thoughts and feelings. Well done Lane Martin.
I met Lane Martin at Love & Fifty this past February in Sacramento. I was intrigued by her covers and titles and made note to dig in when I had free time. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago when Lane reached out to me about her upcoming novella, Tossed. I was totally interested in it after the reading the blurb and I’m so thankful she reached out! This was my first Lane Martin but it definitely won’t be my last.
Shelby and Zeke meet after Shelby has just met her half-sister she didn’t even know existed. So suffice to say, her world has been a little rocked. Zeke is drooling over her car when she offers for someone to drive it. Then Zeke starts drooling over her…
Zeke is as interested in Shelby as he is with her car. His “Pixie” just makes life better and he can’t wait to show her how great they will be together.
This seemed like so much longer than a novella because so much happens. Not too much though where you feel like the couple can’t catch a break because they’re ALWAYS dealing with drama.
This is my favorite in the series for so many reasons. Tank and Shelby are heading to Paradise, but not together. Tank is heading home after getting a call from his mom. Shelby is following (sitting beside him on the plane) after a call from Emily.
Within minutes of riding under the entrance to Paradise Ranch, Tank's childhood home, Tank and Emily begin to grow, to change, to live, to love. Instead of having the challenging interference of friends and family on the coast, they face the challenges of a family that Tank has ignored for more that six years. The coast is looking better by the minute.
I highlighted more romantic moments in this novella than I have in quite some time. Tank just has me melting. Shelby has be giving her a standing ovation. She has found her strength thanks to Tank. They are amazing together. Kudos to Lane Martin for having such fantastic characters.
Shelby world has been rocked. she met her half-sister but she also meets Zeke who is in aw of her car as well as her. Zeke and Shelby has a wirl wind relationship. Lane does a great job of making you feel apart of the story. loved it
