A sweet historical romance set in 1886. This book series showcase the six sons of Pastor and Kaitlyn Reagan, first featured in the 1873 year-based Brides with Grit series. "Will you love her, comfort her, honor and keep her, in sickness and in health; and forsaking all others, be faithful unto her as long as you both shall live?" The young men have heard Pastor Reagan say these words to many couples over the years, and they vow to treat all women this way as they walk through life. Besides the Reagan brothers, the series will feature other men in their community. Oldest son Angus Reagan grew up fascinated with trains and has done everything from stoking engines to applying the car brakes. Now, after being a train detective for years, he's thinking about heading home to Clear Creek, Kansas. He misses his family and community. Daisy Clancy spent her childhood in the family-run café in Clear Creek, Kansas, but she left home to work in a big city when she came of age. Still single and finally lonely for family, Daisy decides to return home and open her own business. Fate puts the two childhood friends on the same train and sparks of memories cause each to think of their future, maybe even together. But a train wreck and robbery sets them on another journey they hadn’t planned on. Two Montana Sky Kindle World books, Nolan's Vow, and Elof's Mission, enter the Grooms with Honor setting right before Angus' Trust.

. This is a historically inspired, clean, and wholesome romance that details the colorful and eventful history of the West in a small town called Clear Creek, Kansas. Pastor Patrick and Kaitlyn Reagan blended a family that has strong values and have been taught to respect women at all costs.
This engaging tale features the eldest son in the Regan bunch, Angus Reagan, a railroad detective, and Daisy Clancy, who had grown up together although the two had not seen each other for the past eight years. A train ride back toward home throws them into each other's paths again. This is a journey detailing their adventurous reunion that soon rekindles the flames of love.
Sage advice for the soon to be husband:
Of course, your wife isn't always right, but you have to remember what caused her to flare up, to defuse it. Maybe she's needing a kiss and a hug, or she needs space and someone other than you to talk it out. . . . . With women, they won't always remember the words you used, but they'll never forget how the words made them feel . My best advice is to always think how it will affect their emotions."
The story was not quite as captivating or as in-depth as it could have ventured, partially due to the brevity. However, it was a light and enjoyable read none the less. And, I did not notice any grammatical errors. So sit down and enjoy the courtship of these two young people.
This is able to stand on its own, but will most likely tie in the with the remainder of the series amicably. I look forward to reading about the rest of the family on their individual journey toward discovering that special someone they can't live without.
This is the start of new series where childhood friends meet again . Always enjoy this author's settings and heartwarming characters with family and friends. Settle in for a good western with trains.
Authors copy with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own
To be upfront - Historical Romance is something I'm not a big reader of, but I try to keep an open mind when reading something outside my comfort zone. Despite that, this book did not sit well with me.
The characters were either bland or not believable. The female MC annoyed me with some of her actions and although the flow of the story was okay, the overall feel of it was slow and boring. The writing, too, was just "okay" and simple in it's delivery.
Overall - it's a forgettable book that I would definitely not recommend.
Oh! Almost forgot to add. - One thing the author did that (for me) really hurt her is the explanation on her inspiration of the characters followed by a photo of said characters.
I'm not against explanations or pictures that were used for inspiration, but provide that AFTER the story. Or even on your pinterest/instagram/website as other authors have done. It really irked me because when I read the story, I like to use my imagination to build up the characters. Doing what this author did felt like she was trying to tell me how to use my imagination.
I know some could argue that covers do something similar, but I'd argue that covers are used to attract attention and that readers don't usually go in holding that *exact* image when you start in on the book because most people understand that covers change and not to bring the cover picture into the story.
Either way, it's just a big NO for me. If I wanted to see characters only "one way," I'd turn the television on.
Angus is a detective for a railroad company when something terrible happens. One of his schoolmates caught his attention, and robbers chose that moment (while he was distracted) to attack the train. He and Daisy (the old schoolmate) survived but were hurt.
They had to walk many miles for help. Angus was fired from his detective's job. Fortunately, he was on his way home for some R and R. Daisy was touring the Colorado mountains before returning to the same town. She had worked in Chicago, then moved and worked in Denver. After touring, she was preparing to open a pharmacy in her hometown.
This was a wordy book. The characters were interesting, but the author spent way too much time talking about Daisy and Angus getting married. One-fourth of the book could have easily been cut without destroying the story. I sometimes complain that a book ends too quickly. That is not true here; it went on and on ad nauseum. This book was boring and moved at a snail's pace.
This is an ongoing issue I've had with these books ever since the first Brides with Grit book. It reads as if some thing is missing. Several times I've had to go back and see if I missed something because new information is presented oddly. I've wondered many times if I've read the books out of order because a lot of things are presented as a recap when really it's all new. I get the impression that maybe these stories were more detailed and then edited to only the most important stuff. Things, situations, and explanations all ways happen at the very moment it's needed instead of something happening early or later and then thing back to the story.
I gave this three stars because I was enjoying the story. I wasn't enjoying all of the slang being used. Several times on nearly every page some type of slang was used. For me, slang is just a hair above cussing. The words mean the same thing, they are just sugar coated. When you say "Dang" - well, you know what you really mean! When I read, I know what cuss word they are trying not to say, and yet still say it! I couldn't finish because there were so many of the slang words replacing cuss words.
This was a great story on a young man who had grown up with his grandparents as his mother and father. He was taught to use his manners and be a responsible man. He became a train detective to make sure that the trains were not robbed as he travelled across the country while the train carried the banks money to different companies as their payrolls. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
Angus and Daisy have known each other since they were kids and have been sweet on each other almost as long. Both are strong, independent people, and each realizes that the other's well-being is important.
With both back in town after so long, everyone is eager to see them matched up and married. I loved how that all worked out. This was a fun stand-alone story with links to other series set in the same town.
Clean historical romance, the heroine and hero was in love when they were very young, the hero left the small town to become a detective for the railroad, the heroine moved away also to see the sights. Just so happen they are both on the same train when it's robbed. This is a wonderful series about brothers and the women that steal their hearts.
Tragedy begins this historical romance!. Years later, Angus and Daisy meet again while returning to their hometown. Love the family mix of adopted and natural children; truly supports the theory "it takes a village..." Liked the homey atmosphere. Strong leads with not so strong self images. Enjoyed the story. Looking forward to the next book in the series. (Read as a standalone.)
Daisy wakes up in the grass wondering what happened. Turns out she and Angus survived a train robbery and were tossed off the train. The crew was all dead. Now they must walk back to the nearest town. With all their injuries it will take a couple of days. These two people had grown up together and now were on the same train by chance. A really good book.
He was working as security on the train when it was robbed
She was enjoying the scenery from the train when it was robbed. After they both woke up not on the train they realized what happened and that they knew each other. Liked the way the story got them back together and how it ended.
A sweet and endearing story about a couple that grew up together but haven’t seen each other in quite a few years. When they meet again they realize they still are attracted to each other. Great characters that are very well developed, along with quite a few of the townspeople make for a really enjoyable story!
I loved this bold fr start to finish and everything in between. It was s great story and I couldn't put it down. This is a wonderful series and I can't wait to read the next book.
This book is my favorite of this trilogy. It had action, mystery and love. The author developed all the characters so well that I fell in love with all of them. I'm off to buy the next book in this series.
I enjoyed this short and heartwarming story about Angus and Daisy. The strength of family--whether blood relative or not--was a strong tie that bound the characters together. Though this is a stand alone book, I've begun reading the next book, Fergus' Honor. I highly recommend.
Two people who sought adventure have found a reason to go home and be with family. They have to learn who each other is and with faith and love and family life begins to follow their dreams.
I love this series of books; the characters; the community; the town; the feisty females; the honorable men. The ending is always great and uplifting. Leaves you feeling good.
True to the title, groom of honor. So refreshing to read about men of the historic west with true integrity and honor. Angus being the first of brothers to court a wife just melted my heart.
A clean romance filled with action. A spunky young lady that knows how to take care of herself. A young man that has been reluctant to settle down. This story is one of those "can't put it down" type you will enjoy from beginning to end.
Pastor and Kaitlyn Reagan's son, Angus and Daisy Clancy are featured in this book. It is interesting to learn about the next generation (their childhood and events leading up to current stats) who are now adults.
A very enjoyable book to read and enjoy from the start to the end. A different way for two people to meet again that grew up together. Then a surprise ending that turns out great. Read the book and you will enjoy it
This is a light hearted read with engaging characters and a delightful plot. It also starts out fast pulling me in from the start. It also has a great ending. I look forward to reading the next one in this series. Happy reading!
Angus left town to join the railroad and travel. Daisy wanted to settle in one place but the one she'd loved since childhood had left. So she also traveled about. When their travels crossed paths, they could also find their love again.
