When I read this description I had a feeling I was in for a forbidden ride! I was pretty excited. It has been a while since I have read a student teacher romance and I had a feeling this would hit the spot.

Dora was the quintessential good girl that had a bad rep from her past which lead her to a new place. I really liked her. She was easy going and has such An amazing heart.

Ramsey was a mystery to me. We got small snipets that left us wondering about his past and I can say that my need to know kept me hook on the story. He was refreshing and the author seemed to have done her research when it came to teaching.

Early on in the book we learn about the pasts that these characters have to endure and then we get to the attraction the the romance. Their pasts make them who they are and how they are with each other.

Simon was an amazing character in this book. All I can say is I love when books have gay best friends and he is totally at the top of the list!

I really enjoyed the submissive and dominate roles in this book. They both fit the description to a T and I found my self (like the heroine) wanting to follow the professors commands! Even on the little things. I have to say Ramsey has slowly became my new favorite Dom! It really came naturally to his personality. (I will add that it is lighter BDSM/Ds. But it worded so well for the story.)

Another amazing aspect of this book is the history! So many amazing things are talked about, from Shel Silverstein to other amazing authors and poets.

Overall, this was a different kind of D/S book. it was originally plotted, amazing writing, and a great pace. I can't think of anything I don't like (other then it ended in a cliffhanger!!!!) I can't wait to see what is to come with these characters. 5 stars #2OCCJD

A Good Story with Some Sexy Fun!

I do not typically read a lot of romance, and when I do it tends to be paranormal, not contemporary. But I thought this might be interesting because it's not a vanilla romance, and it's not about millionnaires or super spies or beauty queens. It's about a couple of normal people in an odd power dynamic; she's a student, he's the professor.

I have seen some reviews of this book that are highly critical of the male lead, Ramsey. He's been described as "bipolar." He's not; he has intense PTSD that is quite realistically portrayed, and his issues are one of the hurdles that challenge the romance. Changes in mood can be a little dizzying at times, but it's realistic, and told in such a way as to not bog down the plot.

I think the thing that some readers might not like is that these are realistic people. Ramsey is a Dom, but he neither has all his stuff together, nor is he a sociopath like Christian Grey. Dora is a sub, who is independent and free-willed and makes her own choices, not a wallflower. And that's what real BDSM is like; real people who do sexy things by mutual consent in the bedroom, and then go right on being normal people.

There's a lot of good stuff in there for people interested in the lifestyle too. Keyes and Davis cover obtaining consent, ground rules, safe words, and defining limits. The slap and tickle itself, however, is very low key. This makes sense because Ramsey is just introducing Dora to all of this, but I find myself hoping we'll get a little bit deeper down the rabbit hole in the next book. Which I intend to read because I want to know what happens, and that's the only real test of a good book, isn't it?

Reviewed on behalf of 2 Girls Who Love Books Blog
This is the first book I have read from this duo, and I absolutely loved it.
With a somewhat taboo storyline of College Professor and Student, this BWWM/BDSM book is extremely well written with two very different main characters that both fall in lust with one another from their first meeting.
What I enjoyed most about this story is the believable characters. Both are very far from perfect, with painful pasts, but are trying to make the best with the hand of cards they have both been dealt.
I think that this is what initially has drawn them to one another. They can both sense in the other a kindred spirit.
From the very first chapter, I was engaged in the story but was utterly surprised when I found that it was co-authored - the writing and the story had a beautiful flow.
I must warn that this does end in a cliffhanger, and am hoping the authors are just about finished book 2, as I cannot wait to continue reading their amazing words.

Based on everyone else's reviews, I thought that maybe I had read a different book than the others. But despite how hard I want to rate this higher, I simply can't. The book started out pretty good, so I had high hopes that this was going to be a great read.

So what exactly did I like? I liked the taboo student/teacher storyline, even liked Dora and Ramsey initially. Ramsey was a pretty dynamic professor to say the least. I certainly never had a professor who regularly cursed at us or told us off in his own way. So I respected him for just being an honest professor who cared about his students, but wasn't going to let them get away with not paying attention or doing their assignments. I liked Dora a lot. She had a tough go of things at her old school and was looking for a fresh start. She was also incredibly book smart, so I respected her intellect and her trying to adapt to a completely new environment in a new country. I LOVED Simon, Dora's drag queen neighbor. He was such a great friend and support system for Dora.

But there are so many other things going on in this book that I really didn't enjoy. Ramsey is such a jerk, and that's being nice. He wants Dora, but then he doesn't. He kept going back and forth with himself on whether or not he wanted to keep her as his girlfriend. He was way too quick to jump down Dora's throat about something and he treated her like crap so much that I lost sight of the times he was actually nice to her. Yes, he was a really sweet guy a lot of times, but those few times he loses his temper really make him seem as though he's bipolar.

And then there's the whole answering his phone in the middle of a D/s scene. What Dom that knows what he's doing and respects his sub would really do that? That just shows a total lack of respect for her and he's neglecting his duties as a Dom when he allows those types of interruptions. And right after the phone calls he just ends scenes like a snap of his finger. I just didn't get it. The BDSM scenes in this honestly felt amateurish and like they were simply role playing. And the safe words he set were too complicated. No first-time sub would remember the 4 or 5 band names to signal how they're feeling at the time. I couldn't even keep up with what each one meant after the "I'm good" and "stop" signals. You're supposed to make it something easy enough to recall. For a supposed professional "Dom," he sure did do everything wrong when in a scene with a sub.

Then there are the things we learn about Ramsey that really make me question whether or not he's a coward or a danger to Dora. He is certainly not a 'hero' in any sort of way. I won't even get into his whole family dynamic. That was just a mess.

While I liked Dora for the most part, I can't get over the fact that she let him talk down to her so many times and all it took for him to win her back was to say he's sorry and kiss her. That's it...no graveling, no apologizing more than 20 seconds, no sweet gestures that didn't involve him spending money. She really should have stood up for herself more since he kept doing the same thing over and over and she kept taking him back. And who Skype's with their mom while they're laying in bed with their boyfriend and makes it obvious that they're sleeping together? That was just a bit too unrealistic and awkward, yet they acted like it was normal.

And then there's the little surprise at the end (I wish I had known that this book had a cliffhanger...most authors are kind enough to warn you in advance). I don't think I'll continue reading the series. It started out so great and that's the most disappointing thing about it all. The book does tend to move really quickly too, which is okay when there's an actual ending to the story, but that's not the case.

I kept finding grammatical errors throughout the book (i.e. writing "butt" instead of "but"). With two authors, I would hope the mistakes would have been caught by someone. Maybe it's just the Communications professional in me that is bothered by those types of mistakes. I have the utmost respect for authors and know how much goes into writing a book. I read 200+ books a year and rarely rate one below a 3. This one just had a hero that I hated and some of the things he did just rubbed me the wrong way. I'm sure he changes in Book 2, but it seemed like there was something much more serious going on in his mind than what was implied.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

Well this is an interesting story, we have a young American woman Dora, going to Oxford England to finish her studies in English Lit, and walks or rather stumbles into Professor Ramsey Kendall's lecture room. The instant connection between them ignites, but it is a coupling that would be frowned upon, Teachers don't fall for students.

Dora has insecurities, and Ramsey has dark secrets, but the chemistry is there and he will initiate her into a whole new world of Submission and Domination.

I found the book enjoyable, and the characters likeable, you'll love Dora's new found friend Simon, he is larger than life and a lot of fun.

A good read well worth picking up and jumping into.

Hooked from the first page to the last page.
Dora and Ramsey totally captured me into their love story.
A student from the states, transfer student, Dora starts school at Oxford as an English Major. She goes to her first class who is taught by Professor Ramsey, a blue eyed sexy man.
Both have the past that haunts and tarnishes their bond. They are trying to keep and a secret love.. Just that... A secret.
I can't go telling all, but I recommend it and can not wait until Book 2 comes out.

I could not have asked for a funner person to work with on this book than Janae. It was an interesting adventure living in her head while we wrote this. The dynamic of this story is interesting and unique and not to outlandish. I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as we enjoyed writing it!

This was a sexy read full of BDSM. I found the characters to be interesting. Dora I like her a lot, but Ramsey on the other hand is just ok. He's very wishy washy in how he feels. Definitely doesn't act like a dom.

The love scenes and overall plot are what saves this. But Ramsey really almost threw me. He just doesn't seem to know what he's doing exactly, and doesn't really treat Dora with respect, which isn't how a dom is supposed to act. He does some questionable things in the story. Obviously their relationship is taboo, but I knew that when going in. There's something else he does that kind of is a spoiler that makes me question if he's ok for Dora.

I'm glad though that Dora in the end is able to escape from her evil past in America and let go for a while. She's so sweet I hope that the next book gives her what she's looking for. This ends on a cliffhanger, so if you did read this you're definitely going to want more. I need to know how her story goes. I'm not sure if I want her to end up with Ramsey, but maybe if he sorts out his feelings correctly I'll be ok with it. On this one I say it's a pretty good story and an interesting read, definitely not my favorite but certainly not my least favorite book :)

NOTE This book ends on a cliffhanger.

was given this book as a beta reader, it was a great read. a different take on bdsm...Ramsey isn't your typical dominant male lead.. he has his moments where he really makes you mad.. Dora also, but the way janae writes and sets the story up you still enjoy the it. I'm ready for the second copy. definitely add this book to your library and enjoy.

I was excited to start this book from the blurb alone. I love a forbidden romance and this had that written all over it. Obviously, student-professor relationships are off limits so I was going to love all the promised sexual tension this type of forbidden romance would give.

I was right, there were many scenes full of innuendos and tension before Dora and her professor, Ramsey, gave in to their desires. The build up for their relationship was intense and I really enjoyed these two as a couple. They have an awesome chemistry and make a good duo. I enjoyed seeing elements of BDSM brought into the mix but this also made me question Ramsey a bit. Ramsey seems like he could be a very caring Dom and partner to Dora which makes him swoon-worthy, for a time.
“From the first moment I saw you, I needed you. From the first moment I touched you, I had to have you. From the first moment I tasted you, f***, I craved you and only you,” he spoke against my skin. “I can’t explain what it is about you, Sweet One. It’s wrong, I know it, but I’m not letting you go. This high is too good to let it end.”

Dora is young student ready to explore her sexuality and her interest and curiosity in BDSM is very enticing. Having Ramsey teach her is fun but I found the playroom scenes weren’t as controlled as they should have been and tended to end quickly or there were elements that happen behind closed doors for the reader which I don’t enjoy.

I love that the story is written in dual POV. This is my favourite style as I prefer to be inside each character’s head instead of assuming what they are thinking. This book is co-written and I didn’t find that I could tell when the authors changed, the book itself flowed nicely but I did find the ending sort of kept up and hit us hard, very quickly.

I hate reviews with spoilers so let’s just say that I found Ramsay to be an unconventional Dom. He was not in control of his life anywhere near where I would expect a Dom to be. From his untidy house to his somewhat carelessness with their forbidden relationship and his personality changing on a dime. No Dom would have his phone in the playroom let alone answer it during a scene nor would he end it immediately and tell his sub to get dressed before they were through. I see that he had his reasons for stepping away from the lifestyle but he seemed unsure of himself at times and let his lust take over. None of these qualities are something I would expect to see in a Dom, no matter how long they’ve stepped away. I was also torn up a bit about the forbidden, taboo even, relationship being condoned at some point. This made the story leave the reality zone for me as I didn't feel that would happen.

On its own, I like the story but I am not impressed that it has a cliff hanger. The story has me intrigued enough to read the next book if it comes out before I forget all about Dora and Ramsey. I loved the side character Simon, Dora’s drag queen neighbour. Gay men make the best friends (talking from experience here), and Simon is the ultimate. This story also contained many similarities to another series I’ve read by the same author so this was also a tad frustrating. Perhaps that isn’t fair to the author but the similarities just kept popping up so it was something I could not avoid seeing.

I’m giving Pleasing the Professor 3 stars since it did keep my attention, had some fairly steamy scenes that had me twitching in my seat, and even brought a tear to my eye at one point. I look forward to book 2 and I do hope that it isn’t a long wait and that it is the conclusion, I don't really want this series to be 3 books. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book for an honest review.

Title:Pleasing the Professor
Author:Janae Keyes & Deliaria Davis

4 unexpected stars

I've added teacher/student genre novels into my guilty pleasure list and the author duo behind Pleasing The Professor absolutely held nothing back from their readers. Being the first time I've read a novel from either Janae Keyes or Deliaria Davis, I loved to see how they told the story of Professor Ramsay and exchange student Dora on the run of painful past where studying abroad seems like the only option for the young woman. Since the moment they meet, the two are barely able to keep away from one another until they simply give in to what their attraction has demanded since the very beginning.

4.5 sexy dreams stars

This book surprised me - it had so many different elements that I never expected such as history, BDSM, pain, suffering, mystery and love, and yet these two authors made it work incredibly well. My curiosity for Ramsay and Dora had me wanting to read faster and as often as I could, absolutely captivating me as much as watching their relationship unfurl. Bravo to both Janae Keyes and Deliaria Davis - I can't wait to read more from them in the future!

Warning this book has a cliffhanger, I think that that needs to be said first so please if you hate cliffhangers you have been warned.

The story is a roller-coaster of emotions for both our hero and heroine., but it's a beautifully weaved tale that leaves you begging for book 2 (honestly I've already started the begging process). A forbidden love is never easy but when just a look sends your body into over drive you can't really ignore it.

And Simon, I mean, I want more Simon

Great first book. I like the pace, the back stories of both. I can't wait for book 2. I like the Oxford setting. The descriptions of the weather and his house were very vivid.

Pleasing the Professor is not your typical taboo romance about a student and professor. In this book you get a whole range of emotions in one book. You get lust, love, heartache and anger. Dora and Ramsey’s relationship is unlike any other. You feel the love between the characters. You feel as if you are right there with them struggling with their relationship. This book will take you on a roller coaster and spit you out at the end. As much as I would love to say how much I loved this book. There were times where I didn’t feel it speaking to me. I found myself having to switch to a different book in order to take a break. Although, this book might not have really spoken to me does not mean this was not a good book. It just wasn’t right for me. Please be aware this book does end on a cliffhanger. It looks like there will be more Dora and Ramsey to come.

Star Rating - ***

Dora is an American student who has transferred to Oxford to complete her final year at Uni with her main subject being English Lit. She certainly gets more than she bargained for when she locks eyes with Ramsey her hot young professor. Ramsey has worked his way up from T. A. To professor and can't wait to get stuck into teaching this year. Until a student literally falls into his classroom who has him questioning his morals as a teacher as he cannot stop thinking about Dora.

The story follows the pairs forbidden relationship and delves into Ramsey's dark desires of BDSM. The sex scenes are hot and steamy and we get to explore the world with Dora. Will the couple be able to keep their relationship a secret?

This was a quick read for me and I definitely kept the pages turning. Everything developed slightly too quickly for my liking but at the same time I enjoyed the read. If you are looking for a new steamy series. I'd recommend giving this a go but be warned, this book ends with a cliffhanger that will make you want to know more....

This is the story about a forbidden love between a professor and his student. Professor Ramsey Kendall was living a secluded life until he met Dora Monroe. Dora Monroe is an American Exchange student who fled the United States to get away from rumors about her. Even though they know they shouldn't be together they can't seem to stay away from each other. Love and lust have a way of changing things. Can Dora and Ramsey get passed all the obstacles in their way and get their HEA? This book contains explicit sexual situations and BDSM. The Dom/Sub roles were provocative. Who wouldn't want Professor Ramsey to boss them around. This was a well written book and a great story line I am so excited for the next book to find out what happens next.

I was gifted an ARC of this book and I am leaving a voluntary review.

This is my first book by these two wonderful authors. The passion and intensity between Dora and her professor are so real. They both know that there relationship is wrong and the consequences, but they are too in love to stop it. With everything going on, they have some real tough decisions to make. I can't wait for the next book in the series to find out what happens. Absolutely a wonderfully written book. I voluntarily read an advanced review copy of this book.
