15 books16 followersMelissa Volker's debut novel, Delilah of Sunhats Swans received a Five Star Review from Reader's Favorites and was praised by Alice Fulton, Guggenheim Fellow Poet, who said, "Delilah...is a charmer, a being blessed with a charisma as mysterious as it is luminous. You won't soon forget her." It was followed by a collection of short stories and a novella, a life undone. She is a member of The Straw Dog Writer's Guild and recently won Words and Brushes third Collaborative Competition with her short story, Truths, which can be found on their website.
The Thirteenth Moon was her first middle-grade, fantasy adventure novel and garnered her the description of "…a combination of C.S. Lewis and J.K. Rowling". The Sequel, A Council of Elders is tentatively scheduled for release later in 2017. Volker then delved into the YA genre with a slipstream/soft scifi novel, Anabelle Lost and a magical realism novella, HIDDEN, each due out in April 2017.
Melissa was born in Albany, NY. She attended NYU for theater and liberal arts and after 14 years in NYC, she left it, and acting, for Boston, MA, and eventually, she and her family moved to Western MA.
But, "we all love Boston and visit regularly because we miss it and Boston is cool (go Sox!) I am a self-professed nerd/geek, and love Marvel Movies, Sci-fi, video games, and cosplay (yes, seriously). Writers that have moved me: Anne Lamott, Jane Hamilton, WP Kinsella, Ralph Ellison, Robert Pirsig -- to name but a very few - I could fill a website with them all."

Hidden tells the story about 14 almost 15 year old Charlie who struggles on a day to day basis with anxiety. He prefers small gatherings to loud parties, and simple movie nights with his mom. Hidden shows how Charlie, not necessarily overcomes his anxiety, but is able to accept who he is and manages it, and that sometimes, disappearing from the world isn't always a bad thing.
