Rate this book
Raven Pallas ran from her past. Easton Poe had a past he couldn't escape. When Raven gets her dream job on Nevermore--a private, remote island--she can relax for the first time in years. As the person in charge of the island and making sure the buildings are kept in perfect condition, especially the large English manor house, is her ideal job. Using her unique skillset learned from her father, she has forgotten more than most men knew of construction. The memories of Easton's wife's brutal murder haunt him still. Escaping the mainland and Poe Distilleries, he’s holed up on Nevermore, alone with only memories of his Lenore to keep him company. For almost five years, he has driven away all the other caretakers his twin brother had hired to make sure he was safe on the remote island. Raven is different. He can't chase her away--and for reasons he doesn't understand, he is relieved when she stays. But something--and someone--dark and sinister is just along the edges of their oddly tranquil life. Secrets long buried come back to haunt both of them and the answers will haunt them, evermore... Nevermore, a modern gothic romance inspired by Edgar Allen Poe’s The Raven.

Wow, this book had me on the edge of my seat and freakin out in certain parts. The suspense was driving me nuts!

This was my first book by M. Stratton. It's a modern twist on Edgar Allan Poes The Raven. There was so many twists and unexpected twists in this book.

The mystery surrounding Nevermore is so good, every time I thought I knew what was lurking I was so wrong and the ending simply slayed me!!!

I voluntarily reviewed a arc of this book

Edgar Allan Poe is my favorite macabre writer. The Raven is one of my favorite poems. This story captivated me from the beginning. M Stratton is a wonderful writer. This is the first book that I have read of hers and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Nevermore was full of suspense and intrigue. It's a psychological mystery with danger and romance. The way Poe and The Raven were interwoven into the story was very clever. The characters were complex, made of so many layers. Each had secrets adding to the mystery. The story itself had just the right amount of tragedy and creepiness to be worthy of Poe.

I love a book that keeps me in suspense; one that I can't put down until the final word is read. This one kept me guessing until the end. It made me happy, gave me hope, then crushed me. I never saw the finale coming, and while I may have been devasted, I was also appreciative. Good read!

I love a good classic, whether it's a song, movie or show. So when I read Nevermore -a modern spin on Edgar Allen Poe's Raven, I was intrigued. This was a great story for me. I was so into the story I really didn't want to think of how she would end the story, but then I would catch myself doing some detective sleuthing. I didn't go where she did-And I love what she did with the story! Great job M. Stratton!!!

I really really love this author. Her books have NEVER let me down. They are thrilling and surprising. They keep the reader guessing throughout the entire book and just when you think you know who has done what, she throws another curveball at you. I can’t get enough of M. Stratton’s books.

Nevermore is a loosely based twist on the story “The Raven” by Edgar Allen Poe. You will see the obvious similarities as you read through it. Personally, I was never one for poetry, so I actually enjoyed Nevermore more than I did The Raven. Don’t judge me. There are characters named after some of the elements in The Raven, and similar wording in places. There is also a poem of sorts scattered through, which is put together in the end in one piece for the reader to enjoy all at one time.

Raven is on the run; from what, we aren’t told until the end, but own Poe Distilleries, started years ago by his great (or great-great?) grandfather, Edgar. Easton is a recluse living on the family island, which had been used primarily for vacation in the past it seems. He has all but abandoned the family business to his twin brother, Bryce, and family friend Henry to run in his absence. Raven is hired to go out as a caretaker to Nevermore, since Bryce isn’t confident in his brother’s abilities to take care of himself despite having run off numerous previous caretakers.

When things start to get weird on the island is when the story really takes off. There are so many weird coincidences, you can’t quite figure out if the person is after Eason or Raven. There are opportunities on both sides for things to go south.

While this book doesn’t necessarily show some of the insanity of Stratton’s previous characters and books, it is still a very good read and great for anyone looking for a mystery/thriller with the hopes of light implied romantic undertones. Very well written and interesting, Nevermore is definitely a book worth checking out.

This book was very intriguing. Although I figured out who was causing all of the mayhem pretty early on, I was still interested enough to find out how it would all come to light. I have read 'The Raven' but it has been many years and I have forgotten a lot about the book, so most of this book felt new to me.
Easton was a broken man; he lost his wife and unborn child five years earlier and he was just going through the motions. He sequestered himself away from his family and his friends and forced all of the caretakers his brother sent away. Raven was a scared woman; until near the end of the book we knew she was running but we didn't know from whom or why. She was hired on to take care of the grounds where Easton was living and report back to his brother on how Easton was doing.
At first, Easton is cold toward Raven and doesn't want her there. He wants to continue wallowing in his broken heart. Raven doesn't let his attitude sway her, she is there to do a job and she is going to do it. Besides, she likes the quiet. Everything changes when she gets sick and he finally has to take care of someone besides him self again.
Once his walls start to come down, he starts taking care of himself while becoming very protective of Raven. He also starts helping his brother look over the books of the company again and realizes that something is off.
After a few break ins where nothing is stolen, but it is clear that they were after something and the intruder was dressed in a raven mask, Easton and Raven decide to beef up the security. While doing that, other mysterious things start happening and Easton and Raven start worrying that someone is trying to hurt or kill them. Easton hasn't decided to fully trust Raven yet, so he hires his P.I. to dig around for information on her.
With just enough intrigue and mystery to keep me interested, I devoured this book. I wanted to see if I was correct in who was doing everything to Easton and Raven. I wanted to find out who or what Raven was hiding from. I also wanted Easton to wake up and realize that he deserved to be happy again; which would ultimately lead to a relationship with Raven, but I didn't want him to get hurt again. Exactly what happened to his late wife and unborn child was heartbreaking and it was even worse learning who did it and why.
I really enjoyed this book and will read more from this author. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I would have given 5 stars but I didn't like the ending. This was a great twist on the poem by Edgar Allan Poe. The book was a quick read but enjoyable.

Don't Read in the Dark!

M. Stratton does psychological thriller that rivals the best. Nevermore is no exception. Add in the wonderful tie ins to Poe's The Raven and, less than halfway through, I had to take a break because every noise in my very bright house was absolutely sinister. Nevermore isn't all gloom and doom though. Raven is a bright self sufficient woman and Easton is an equally genius hilarious grump. They are both incredibly stubborn and must work together. This book should've been a solid 5 stars, but the last quarter of the story felt rushed. There was this fantastic buildup and then it's like, oh yeah, need to wrap this up. There are also several instances per chapter where it seems a spellchecker or grammar check may have changed words. Nothing worthy of a DNF, but enough to make you stop and go, "Huh?" Nevermore is still a fantastically well written story, it just had a lot more potential. Definitely a solid 4 star rating.

This Poe inspired story, set in a contemporary world, is every bit a Gothic romance. Ms. Stratton pays homage to the late Edgar Allen Poe with this tightly plotted story of secrets and lost love. Set on the private island of Nevermore, Easton Poe mourns his long murdered wife and neglects the family business. Raven is hired by his brother as the caretaker of Nevermore and what follows is a well woven story of intrigue and changing relationships. Raven has her fair share of secrets but loves the isolated island and eventually the man who she was hired to care form as well as Nevermore. Things in this story are not always what they seem and in typical fashion, Ms. Stratton spins the ending in a way that is surprising. Obviously inspired by The Raven by Poe, Ms. Stratton's twist is unique and unusual.

I got this as an ARC and was very excited. The title drew me in and the move I learned about it the more excited I became. I love a good Dark Gothic Romance. Plus I am a huge E. A. Poe fan. This is just a retelling of one of his classic. Made for the modern era. I could not put it down.
It takes place on the private island of Nevermore. This is where Raven Pallas is going to get a job and doing her best to out run her past. She is going to Nevermore Estate to work for Easton Poe. He does all in his power to scare her away, but she is too stubborn to just run off. He is kind of relieved that she does not leave. They become something more. Will both of their pasts come back to haunt them? You will have to read it for yourself to find out.

Wow, this was my first M. Stratton book and man the woman can write. I loved this twisted tale. Several times while reading I had chills and the urge to check my windows. I couldn't stop reading, I had to know what the next page would bring, even though at times I was a little afraid of what it would hold. My heart was in my throat a few times. The details have me wanting to go find Nevermore and visit. I pride myself in figuring out twist early on, but not this time, I had no idea! Raven and Easton were great characters, and the poem, so wicked and awesome. Do yourself a favor and one click, I promise you will love it!

M has done it again and this time she's taken a classic and given it a modern twist.
I was hooked from the first page and I was kept guessing until the end AND I guessed correctly...even though I kept changing my mind along the way.
I'll admit, I was hesitant at first as this book was playing with Poe's greatest, The Raven but she somehow managed to work with it beautifully and take is classic to the next level

Keep the lights on!
This is a psychological thriller that is best read with the lights on! I could not put the book down.
Raven is a woman that knows her way round a mans trade and Easton is a genius grumpy man. Both of them is stubborn and have their own past to deal with. And I would have never guessed that ending. Both sob 
Thumbs up from me

WOW! Kept me guessing all through the book until the last paragraph. Did not expect that ending. Raven takes a job on a private island. She is to look after Easton, who is still mourning the loss of his wife 5 years after her death. Raven is running and when someone is terrorizing them, they are not sure if it is Easton or Raven they are after. Good story.

3.5 stars. Decent read with a very intriguing plot. I try not to be very picky when it comes to grammar. But with that said, the errors with misspelled, misplaced, and missing words was extremely distracting throughout.

So I thought I had the mystery figured out, then changed my mind, then changed again only for me to be a bit blindsided. Then HEARTBROKEN. Totally NOT COOL! Though I do love when books take me in directions I didn't know I want to go but the ending KILLED ME! So 3.5 stars.
