David Stage is a warehouse supervisor for a large retail company who manages a staff of over three hundred. At work he is known as a hard task master that doesn’t give an inch but at home is another story. His wife Linda Stage is a Mortgage Broker and runs her own office. They live in the city of Houston Texas raising their two children and have been married for twenty- two years. Seems like the perfect family anyone on the outside looking in would say, but a closer look reveals the dark nightmare that David has been going through since year one of saying I do to his lovely wife and his tormenter. David is one of many men that live in silence of domestic abuse because of fear of embarrassment as a man. Can David regain his manhood taking the place as king in his home or is his fate sealed to being Linda’s footstool forever? Can the Lord restore this family from darkness? This is his Midnight Hour.
3.5/4.0 Now while I'm usually on the side of the domestic violence victim, I could not bring myself to have too much sympathy for David. I guess it was the way he was presented in the beginning & I was not privy to the "great relationship" they once shared. I did not agree with Linda's horrid treatment of him & some of her actions were unbelievable. Reading the awful effects her evil ways caused kept me reading mainly to see if and when a breakthrough would occur. Overall, I thought the ending was appropriate considering the content.
This book has left me speechless. Andre Ray has penned a book about domestic abuse. Domestic abuse is so serious it not only affects the person being abused but others around them. I know this is a work of fiction but many people deal with this only a daily basis.
Mr. Ray thanks for sharing this book and letting others know this is a real issue. This could have been a 5 star read minus the typographical errors.
I didn' t like how Linda was treating her husband like he wasn't nothing especially after he had his heart attack I felt so bad for him & his kids I was glad Bree gave her a rude awakening I liked the way Author Andre Ray incorporated scriptures into the book & glad Linda saw what she was doing to her family & decided to rededicate her life to the Lord overall all it was a good book
Wow I am a woman and I'm saying I don't know if I could stay under that pressure he is a strong man, but channelled his anger at his employees which was wrong. I was hoping since they came together in peace at the end couldn't there have been a six month update or something on their lives without ending when God was working oh well. But this book had a lot of misspelled words and misused words
I really enjoyed this book. This book had me stuck like peanut holds on to jelly. The message was powerful and you'll end this read with a message to take with you. The only thing that burger this read was the errors.
Mental and emotional abuse can ruin a person stability. David Stage a faithful husband, father, provider and a man of God. He goes out of his way to make his family happy, but he is not receiving the same from family members. He gets to a point where he feels he is weak and not able to withstand all turmoil that is thrown at him alone. Things gets out when of control when stress takes over and causes health issues, in the midst of it all David believes God is in control and will come in the Midnight Hour to make things right.
I enjoyed reading this book, it reminds me that God will never leave you nor forsake you. Through the mayhem and stumbling blocks HE has the final say. My only gripe is the errors throughout the book; mispelled words, etc. Overall good read.
Awesome,faith filled,exciting,renewed my spirit,warm,loving.
Midnight Hour was a great read,It reminds me of this church song .Late in the midnight hour Gods going to turn it around. And God did for the Stage Family Amen
WOW!! What an experience this story was!! This is one of if not my favorite genre. I have been reading a great deal of psychological thrillers recently, which is also one of my favorite genres. I try to pepper my reading choices and stagger them with different genres to keep my aggressive reading as enjoyable and interesting as possible. So in doing this, it had been a brief moment since I had read African American Christian friction. This was definitely the read to kick off my return to this category. I wanted to give this book 5 stars, I really did, as I'm often generous with my ratings. I had to choose 4 stars, however, due to lack if editing of this book on a professional level. The typos and grammatical errors were inexcusable and almost caused me to stop reading the book altogether at one point as it became so annoying!! I'm pleased that I persevered because it turned out to be an excellent story and Christian lesson. It took a turn toward being an excellent Christian message, just in time, as I began to think Linda was the worst demonic, sociopathic, abusive person I had ever heard about or read of!! WOW!! This woman's heart was the stoniest of the stonies and David was a saint of all saints!! These two individuals were world's apart!! What a twist that Bree, of all people, would be the one used to break Linda with a dose of her own bitter medicine and help her find a heart? Bree's Christian guidance and influence from her father helped her bring her mother back to salvation through forgiveness. This irony began a chain reaction of events that led the entire family back to the Lord and each other. If this author is able to put professional editing into this storyline and character development with a reprint, the end result would be unstoppable. So happy I kept reading!!
This book is by far the deepest story I've ever read. I downloaded this book and read it in 3-4 hours. Wow.. Linda and David's relationship was one I could definitely relate to.. From both sides. The kids.. Wow our situations become our children's burdens. The ending is powerful and will bring tears to your eyes. I don't want to spoil the book by revealing to much. But this is one book I'm glad I picked up. Andre Ray has three more books that Im definitely gonna read. This man knows how to tell a story.
Normally, I enjoy reading Andre Day's books. But this book is something else. He took too much from his wife. I really couldn't enjoy it because of the disheartening abuse.
I'm not really into religious books, but this was a good book. I just wished it was a little bit more realistic. Simply because i don't think the husband would've taken that much abuse for 20 years.

God gives a heart of forgiveness but it is not my belief that He wants us to stay in an abusive relationship for years. Now is it my belief that God would be pleased that we allow our children to also be abused and that we just encourage them to pray. I'm all for Christian reads but this is not a read that I would encourage anyone to base their faith on. Pass on it.
While I appreciate the words of spiritual guidance. I feel this book is unrealistic. Yes there was abuse involved. Yes, it's a book and need to come to a end. But true forgiveness does not come that easily with years of abuse involved. Trust has been damaged. Thanks for letting us know that it can be done. But unrealistic time frame.
I like that it is real life situations. I explains how relationships can go from bad to good. It shows all men are not so easy to leave when things go left. I would recommend this book to a couple going through things.
This was a great read. For a moment I was thinking get on with it but it was still a page turner i had to see to the end. GOD IS FAITHFUL when we are not.
