He married her best friend to "protect" heroine from his father, he then had two kids with his wife and fell in love with her. 10 years later they meet again where she didn't even know she was teaching painting to his children. She is getting divorced after being unhappy with her husband while "hero" admits that he had a loving marriage that he had been more than happy with. In no little amount of time she falls back into this guy's arms because "she will always love him". I frankly didn't feel his so called eternal love for heroine because the whole book revolved around his wife and her death. He was always running away and crying over his wife's loss never really being there to support heroine even after she told him she can't have kids. This book was depressing because while he seemed to have everything while separated from heroine, she was getting divorced and she would never become a mother. Why couldn't she have moved on too by having a happy marriage and kids with om? Instead she became the usual cliche that a lot of authors love by portraying as a martyr who will always love her man and his children because she is that magnificent! There was no sense of fairness or equality in how different their lives turned out and as usual it's the female lead that's had the worst life.
Maybe other people will find this book beautiful and tragic (loss of his wife) but I just found it full of wrongness.

Kathunk! That was my head hitting the wall on this one. Fre warned me, but I didn't listen. I really should listen to my friends more. But I was thinking, 'Naw I will give it a go cause it can't be that bad really'.

I was wrong, really wrong.

The basic plot here is that the H and h were college lovers, but the H's father was a big muckety muck and wanted the H with another girl who also happened to be the h's friend. Both the H and the OW were from the "Right" side of the tracks. The H's father stated that he would rain down death and destruction on the h's world if the H did not dump her. The H, being an entitled little prick, fell for it and kept his daddy's backing too.

So he told the h to get back to her muddy hovel pig sty, as she was only good for a pump and dump and he moved on and married the "Right" choice friend.

He had a great and happy loving marriage and two kids. Then his beloved and adored wife died in childbirth and then we get chapters and chapters and chapters of how the universe is unfair to this privileged, rich, best-thing-since-sliced-bread, poor widower who is angry that he lost his beloved and adored wife and left his kids motherless, poor little baby tykes.

The h married too and her husband cheats and walks all over her and she finds out she can't carry babies to term, so just to pile on the woe, she will never be a REAL mother either. The h just wanted a loving relationship and some babies, she really gets the shaft. As these types of h's always are, she is kind, patient, loving and wouldn't accidentally step on on ant without severe remorse and deep mourning. (It kinda makes you wonder what she got up to in her past lives, cause she is paying some heavy Karma in this one.)

As these things also go, the H and h meet again. The H pursues and dips his wick in and the h is just grateful for the opportunity to be a poor substitute distant mom type. (Way, way, way behind the H's own mother and his seriously hot, maybe next Mrs. H nanny.) The h is also ecstatically deelited to be his devoted, subservient and not-good-enough- for-him wick holder. (In other words the sex was great.)

But the entitled rich but emotionally wrecked poor H is angry and the h isn't sticking to her seen and not heard or worthy of consideration peasant place and actually has the gall to think she might have a word to say or a part to interact with the H's Sacred Life and Kids and Nanny.

(The quality of serfs who don't know their place these days, really the gall of them, why can't they just throw themselves down as convenient mud puddle bridges, like the old days?)

So the H ignores, berates and walks out on the h multiple times. Until finally the h remembers that the 13th Amendment was passed 150 odd years ago and that serfdom went out with the last Black Death epidemic. She gathers up her big girl pants enough to tell the H in a sobbing little voice mail that she is done and they are finished cause she deserves better, sob, sob, wail. (Yay! The h took a Flintstone with a milligram of calcium and got a hint of a spine.)

The H, who has been going on a month avoiding and mentally berating the h and wailing over his lost adored, beloved wife while flirting with his hot nanny, gets the message and he is OUTRAGED that the h has the nerve to tell him they are done. HE will be doing any endings, thank you, and his wick needs a dip, so it has to wait a moment.

We get the big soliloquy about how the H's kids are so sad and pathetic cause they are rich, beautiful and have tons of adorning women and family but will never know there beloved, adored mother and this is a TERRIBLE TRAGEDY and the h JUST CANNOT COMPREHEND their intense, unremitting AGONY for a woman they have never met.

So the h is stupid, but then the H also has to explain that he HAD to marry his beloved, adored and TOTALLY SO MUCH MORE BEAUTIFUL Daddy's Choice Wife to SAVE the ungrateful and much too willful peasant piece of nooky that is the not downtrodden enough cause she won't stay flat on the ground h.

But let him dip his wick a bit more and step all over her enough to lie flat and he will consider that she can stay and be a really, really sloppy third choice, cause well she really loves him and he knows it.

He would be a fool not to take advantage of that -- after she signs a suitably iron clad poverty striking agreement in case of divorce. So the h is eternally grateful for his patronizing condescension and leaps on that offer like it is the last boat off of an erupting Krakatoa for the big, we-are-sorta-okay-loves-since-the-nanny-is-moving-out on the H's part kinda HEA.

Theoretically this is supposed to be a romance. I am completely blind cause I really wasn't seein' it. Maybe I need to have a few more shots with the Captain so my vision will be blurry enough to see the lurve I somehow totally missed.

How on earth does ANYBODY think that being a wick holder for an entitled slime slurper wimp who couldn't tell daddy to jump and spends the whole book outside of wick dipping mourning his lost wife and lecturing the h about how she knows NOTHING constitutes a romance?

Why can't the h have a decent relationship? Well mainly cause as nice and sweet and wholesome and motherly as this h was, that was a serious character flaw. She just couldn't see the men she choose for who they actually were as opposed to who she rosily imagined them to be. So really it was her and not them, cause she couldn't shake the blinders off her own rosy imaginative vision. I felt sorry for her, cause really her reality when she wipes the rosy cotton gauze off her eyes is going to bite.

So while this one is NOT a romance, and I certainly wasn't believing the HEA, (which is the standard by which all romances should be rated,) it is a very good life lesson in personal prudence. Cause sometimes believing the best of everyone is just not the wisest or the best option to take.

While seeing the good in everything is a fine and noble ideal, it really bites you in the hiney when you wake up to the reality that you are a third class, shop worn, tarnished afterthought who, excepting your bad idealistic judgment, could have had a real romance with a respectful, loving partner who actually wanted you as his BEST choice and actually expended a little effort to woo you to get it.

I mean look at the cover. He's NOT EVEN LOOKING AT HER!

Okay, okay, okay. Skimmed at the speed of sound. I pity anyone (Fre/ Boogenhagen) who actually read this cover to cover as ZZZZZzzzzz. It was so fucking boring. BORING. B-O-R-I-N-G!

It’s not that I hated the H so much, because I do for all the reasons stated by other reviewers but, hey, he’s the sun and everybody else just revolves around him. It also has one of my least favorite writing, YA copouts: the alternating POV.

TRISTAN
HARMONY
TRISTAN
HARMONY
TRISTAN
HARMONY

The last Harmony I encountered was vapid, shallow Harmony from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.

Personally, I think the heroine needs to take her vows, go to the top of a willow-less mountain, twirl and sing…

Let's end on a positive note.

I like angst. Love it. But.............I don't like it when the heroine gets peed on. Continuesly. Right up to the end. Yup, she's still being peed on. By the HERO. And she better watch out, cause I think he was turning around there at the end and pulling his pants down.

This book made me so pissed! did not feel the love of H for h whatsoever, instead I read about a love story between H and OW he married (was bff to h btw). Yes, supposedly he betrayed/left h to protect her from his father's threat, marry h's bff for same reason but fell in love with her and had 2 kids with her! ...oh but he never forgot h nor stopped loving her! very disappointing...
H was all about grieving for deceased wife for years, never attempted to see h or explained anything, in fact would not have gotten together with her had she not dovorced her cheating ass douchebag husband and moved back home. Of course as usual, poor tsl ha ended up with a douchebag cheating ass husband while H went on to great success in business, beautiful wife that he grew to love and kids and h cannot have kids --really?? Authors why do you continue to do such diservice to women!!! Please change things around - i would be happy to read about same story line if the heroines are written to be strong (not drop panties as soon as H shows up, no actual grovelling or proof of love and faithfulness- you know, make him work for it)!! come one!

I cannot tell you how much I hated this story. Doormat h, TSTL H. The H said one thing and did another.
If I was the h I wouldn’t speak to any of them again or be in their orbit.

Since I can't find more than one book every, oh, six weeks or so that doesn't make me want to do a mischief, I've found a way to entertain myself in the spaces between.

I pick a book lambasted by reviewers I trust implicitly - and then I read it to see how badly it sucks and how pissed off it will get me. I will know I have truly given up the good fight against shoddy reading material the day I don't get pissed off at such material.

Happily, today is not that day 😁.

But I will keep this short and sweet.

This book sucked it hard. The mental age at work here was an estimated 15 to 17 years, maybe? The characters were poorly developed and so immature. Just unrelatable, really. All the flying off the handle and chest-puffing silliness was a bit much. And the writing overall was just juvenile.
Silly premise. Weak hero (disguised in gushy prose to make him seem ruthless and cold.)
Lame duck heroine.
Too much DEAD. EX. DRAMA.

Ye know, I was kind of OK with Harmony until she left her good sense to rot and let HIM back in.

The guy dumps her in a humiliating, heartbreaking fashion, marries her bestie and has 2 kids with his new wife before she dies tragically. So, that's the lives of not one but TWO womem that have been blown apart by his stupid arse.
And so, I'm curious - what right does this pussified fucktard of a H have to be angry with the h for? According to him, he HAD to marry the OW to protect the h, but he acts guilty as sin. He's so paranoid when he sees she's returned home after a decade that it's laughable.

Why is he paranoid? Because he knows he's a weak-ass rat bastard who doesn't deserve a bit of what he has and knows he did a shite thing that no woman with a brain in her head would ever forgive him for.

But...the heroine does.

This is not romance. These people were all idiots. It isn't beautiful or moving or remotely swoony to read about a hero mourning over his deceased wife for 90% of the bloody book!

Second-chance romance, my ass. With all the ex drama showing up these days I think we have a whole new trope to add to the list, called 'second-CHOICE romance.'

I've attended this one too much already. My verdict is that it's crap if you're over 20 years of age.
Peace out.

I was extremely luck to receive an ARC of this book by Danielle Dickson & Abigail Davies and oh my holy hell what a book it is!

Tristan is a widowed dad of 2 kids and he is struggling to get on with his life. Completely devoted to his children he does what is best for them at all times. But it is hard when they ask questions about their mom that has passed on. Harmony was Tristan's college girlfriend and best friend of his late wife. It takes them a while to be able to forgive but when they do it is beautiful. It is full of ups and downs but they were definitely necessary to the story.

This book had me hooked from page one, I genuinely couldn't and didn't want to put it down. I read it in a few hours whilst literally not moving from the couch - it pulled me in so much I genuinely couldn't. Emotional rollercoaster doesn't even begin to describe this book! I could completely understand why each character behaved the way they did. This book made me cry near in one particular part and when you read it, you will be able to pin point where and why.

This is the first co-write book with these two authors and I am so glad that it will not be their last. It was an amazing book and I am so lucky that I was chosen to read it early. Also, that I get to be in both authors reader groups and watch the progress of this book whilst it was written. It was beautifully written and I know personally that these two authors have put their heart and soul into this book and it definitely shows!!

You ALL have to read this when it goes live, I can 110% promise that you wont regret it <3

A well deserved emotional 5 stars from me, well done ladies - exceptional work!

Wow !!! That’s one word that I would use to describe this book. Another one is Amazing.

This was angst heaven and for a lover of angst which I definitely am this book punched me right in the gut. I felt everything with this story, pain, heartbreak, forgiveness, and peace.

Harmony and Tristan’s story is full of ups and downs.
This was an epic second chance romance but boy oh boy did it have its lows throughout this book.

Tristan at times I was so angry with him but ohhhh he gutted me completely. So consumed by well just a shit deal it seems. I won’t get into details here and just say you need to read it.

Harmony spoke to my inner soul. She was strong yet weak at the same time and I just thought how can she keep going. I would be completely broken, she was such a great character and i could relate to her on so many levels. Especially having experienced a lot of what she went through myself.

This book is a must read. If you don’t get any type of feels from this book then all I can say is you are not human.

38% before couple even meet again. WTF?!?!? Almost no flashbacks of H/h in their youth up to this point. Definitely no where near what I need to want to root for their HEA much less give enough fucks to finish the book. 74% and H/h finally go out on a date then they fuck it up for another 20%. It’s 97% before they discuss the past and it’s such a let down. I spent WAY too much time in this book. Completely smutless.

SO. FUCKING. BORING.

I was gifted this arc for an honest review

I'm having trouble rating this book and I'm going with 3.5*, the writing was brilliant and the story line heartbreaking and definitely had me hooked until the end but......
we had harmony and Tristan who are meant to of had this epic love that nobody could live up to or beat, but had it ripped apart, they was young and as much as it hurt and they loved each other both moved on and continued on with life until fate bought them back together, now reading it, yes, got it but really I think I felt the love more between Tristan and Natalia more. Tristan managed to move on pretty quick with his life after he broke harmonys heart and yet 6 years after Natalia's death he still doesn't seem ready to move on and every thought was practically about her, frankly I really felt sorry for harmony and felt that Tristan was quite weak and one thing I really disliked about his thought process was when he completely ignored her when she called out to him at the art studio, and then she left the message on his voicemail about them being done because he was to chicken to speak to her and then he crumbled because his thought process was it's one thing for him to ignore her until he cleared his head because he could go back whenever he wanted but her saying its done between them and suddenly he has to go to her, I mean WTF! but at least he understood it was his fault but I still wanted to punch him lol
harmony was a really lovely heart warming person and I loved her, she was strong and I would love her to be my best friend.

That's all my negative points, and I did really enjoy this book but it was just abit off the mark for me.

I just can’t with this story. It’s depressing, cliche, and dull. Dull! I was soooo bored and wasn’t into it. Theme was that of the entitled guy flourishing (rich, happily married, beautiful kids and still gets the soulmate at the end) and poor girl who suffered and gave up everything leading to a miserable 10 years but then begs the H back after his choices and decisions wrecked them. Yeah, tired of this drivel.

I had to skim the book because the characters were so bland the story was long and the reveal of H telling h why he left her broken didn’t happen until 95% left. I really tried but there were many issues with the story, flow, so-called romance, and likability of the H. Again, no romance. This was not a romance and not much of a story. Plus, this was too wordy - over 500 pages of nonsense. Bunch of filler about nothing throughout and only by the 35% did the H and h finally interact. By then, I was pissed to read the H was angry with the h given he broke her heart and married her best friend, had kids and seemingly was in love with his wife (the friend). For what reason I still don’t know! That right there, was the turning point and it became an uphill battle to like Tristan and this story. And still at 60% nothing happens except the kids are still painting. Tristan is still a prick. Nate was the only speck of joy going on. Then yup, it’s more about the kids and his inability to father them. Being distracted by a side character story. So boring.

Now let’s talk about what a douche Tristan was to Harmony. I had no sympathy for Tristan and his entitled ass. Why must these authors write this about the H treating women like total garbage but the h just loves him unconditionally and has zero backbone and he’s the best thing ever. Not. He was a miserable shitbag and didn’t deserve a second chance. So now that his wife is dead, she’s been the one all along? Screw him. Delete him. Replace him! When he kissed her all I could think was nooooo! And I just wanted to scream at her and tell her she’s an idiot. Anything but that....Can you hear me Harmony?!?!? I was so tired of h and her forgiving heart and turning a blind eye. No resistance from her. Then she begs for forgiveness from him when she does nothing but does thoughtful things for him and his family? Yes, shitbag. He got off the hook so easy, everything was honky dory, yada, yada, yada. I didn’t like them together. This story blows. I hated it. I was annoyed and irritated all the way to the end. This made my angry for how Harmony was dumped on and used as a token replacement. Even the epilogue was dreadful. Not a good HEA, more like convenient storyline. F him, screw her, shoot me. Who cares. Like I said honky dory.

5 Second Romance Stars

Wow just wow! I was so lucky to get an advanced copy of Etching Our Way by two amazing authors Abi and Dani. This is the first co-written book with these two authors, I've read their individual books and loved them. I was looking forward to this read and intrigued.

This book starts with heartbreak and this continues throughout the book. At points I wanted to hit Tristan across the head and tell him to wake up and open his eyes. But on the other hand my heart broke for him and his family. Harmony was just a strong woman that in real life I feel I could be good friends with.

This book was amazing, I was hooked from the first chapter. It was such a rollercoaster of emotions and I found the tears falling at points throughout. I felt Both Tristan and Harmony's heartbreak. There was fab secondary character's which is a must for me and we will get more in this series from these authors which has me very excited!

A must read, pick it up you wont regret it!

This book... I struggle to find the words. First things first, Gerry is a tool. I wanted to smack him in the face so ridiculously hard, my heart broke for Harmony in the first few chapters, I was a very angry reader. But watching her grow from her pain and become stronger, watching her face her past with Tristan and not give up on love makes it totally worth it.
I had some issues with Tristan, sometimes I wanted to scream at him in frustration, like he could hear me through my kindle and it would make him change, but it worked. We're all flawed, we all have issues, and none of us want to get hurt. I get his fear in that.
This is a definite must read, the way these 2 authors have come together to make something so special is truly great. I've read their individual works and now this, and I love watching them bloom as authors, and keep getting better, stride by stride.
You need to read this, but you've been warned - have tissues at the ready.

Harmony and Tristan were college sweet hearts-but Tristan's greedy father tore them away from one another. After years a part, when Harmony moves home to start fresh after catching her husband cheating on her, old wounds are left wide open. Tristan and his two children are emotionally broken even six years later after loosing his wife, and their mother. Although Tristan was forced to marry someone else, he tried making his marriage work for the sake of the kids. He knew he would never love again like he did Harmony, and his late wife accepted that. When Tristan is forced to adopt single dad responsibilities, it's clear he's mentally sinking fast-as he has no one to lean on. When he sends his children to a new art studio in town, he never imagined their teacher to be his college sweet heart, Harmony. As the two adults get to know each other again, their emotionally stability is put to the rest-were they really meant to be?
I enjoyed this story-and I absolutely fell in love with the plot. I've never quite read anything like it, and felt like the plot was absolutely very unique. I did however, I did feel like the story didn't really flow all that well. There was a lot of push and pull between the two characters and often times I felt like enough was enough. I do believe a lot of scenes probably could have been edited out, and it wouldn't have changed the plot of the story whatsoever. (Like, Any scene with Amelia)After the first couple times Tristan was having his meltdowns and avoiding Harmony, I felt as if Harmony was being a door mat and continuously being walked on allowing someone to talk to her and treat her the way Tristan did. Despite my feelings, the plot of this story was very interesting, and the Carter family characters were completely adorable.- By Victoria

This was a good book, good premise as well, and I see a lot of promise with these co-authors.

This story follows Tristan and Harmony, who were college sweethearts, but were "forced" apart by Tristan's father. They found their way back to each other gen years later.

Things I liked: The kids. Izzie was adorable, and I felt for Clayton. I liked that Tristan's mom worked hard to regain her son's trust. The premise of the story was really good, too.

Things that didn't work for me: I really wasn't a fan of Tristan. He was selfish through most of the book, although he portrayed himself as doing what was best for Harmony in college. Yeah, I didn't see that. I had difficulty with the idea of how much he loved his first wife. I also had trouble with the timeline; I never felt like I had a grasp on when things occurred in the past and how they fit together. I mean, Harmony stuck around for three years after they broke up, but didn't know that Tristan married Natalia? And never found out that they had kids, but they were from the same town (or really close together). Lastly, the ending seemed very rushed to me.

I know this review sounds fairly negative, but the basic outline of the story was interesting. I am glad that I read it and will certainly consider other books by these co-authors.

This book was fantastic; it grabbed my attention right away from the beginning of the storyline throughout the whole book. The emotions I went through from laughing to crying was a great feeling of bringing Harmony Jameson and Tristan Carter together again. From being college sweethearts to breaking up and finding each other again was truly amazing. Abigail Davies and Danielle Dickson did an exceptional job of writing the storyline together.

I fell in love with Tristan Carter and Harmony Jameson with the way they fought the demons of their past. Tristan had two kids with Natalia who was Harmony's best friend from college. It broke my heart to see Harmony struggle with her feelings for Tristan when they found each other again; especially after her husband cheated on her and she divorced him. Tristan's kids Clay and Izzie took art classes from Harmony at her art studio Willow Arts.

This is the first book of The Broken Tracks Series, but it can be read as a standalone. I fell in love with the characters and I hope you do, too.

Let me start by saying, although this book is co-written, the story flows. It's as if one person wrote it. The story starts with a present betrayal. This quickly shows Harmony's character and you really start to love her. She is a good person and a good heart. It actually makes you a little mad the way Tristan treats her.

Tristan the male lead is a thick headed mule. He can't see past his own heart ache to what is right in his face. I wanted to reach into my kindle and slap some sense into him.

The characters are so fun, the kids are funny and believable. There is the right amount of humor and the story unfolds beautifully.

This book is a HEA in the best way. The epilogue makes your heart sigh with happiness.

**I received an Arc for an honest review **
Life is complicated, and very few people leave this life with ought scars along the way. Some scars are deeper and uglier than others. Harmony and Tristan most certainly have had their fair share along the way. Both come face to face with scars of the past and how to heal and move forward. It's a bumpy ride, in which there is a happily ever after, it just takes bit of work to get there.

Settle into your favorite reading spot, grab some snacks and a drink, and queue your EOW book playlist, because you're not going to want to move until you've finished Harmony and Tristan's story. And the playlist is a must to help you feel the emotions more deeply along the way. Oh, and you might need some tissues, too.

Abigail Davies & Danielle Dickson wrote an incredibly beautiful and poignant second chance romance. I laughed. I cried. I loved. There were so many life changing and emotionally-wrenching moments for Harmony and Tristan that it's difficult to write a review without giving away pieces of their story. I want you to have the pleasure of experiencing their journey as I did, so I'm going to keep it vague.

The authors expertly conveyed each moment, emotion, and relationship to allow us to fully grasp every aspect of Tristan's and Harmony's lives. And the flashes into the past throughout the book were perfect and essential. My heart broke so many times over the circumstances and pain that Harmony and Tristan experienced. Their love and passion for one another was soul deep, but with all of the years and devastation between them, I wondered how they would ever be able to move through it all to find their way back to each other. At the same time, I felt like the drama and pain of the past were fated; Harmony and Tristan wouldn't be the same in the end without it. You'll understand once you read their story.

I felt like Tristan was stuck in the anger stage of grief for years because not only was he dealing with the loss of a loved one, but he was also still mourning the loss of his first love, Harmony. His volatility simmered just below the surface, and every unfavorable interaction quickly brought him to boiling. Fortunately, with his years of experience concealing his emotions, he was able to harness it before too much spilled over and burned those around him. That's not to say others weren't affected by his inability to cope with his losses. Tristan struggled greatly and lacked the ability to accept help or even recognize that he needed it. It wasn't until he was forced to face reality that he finally relented.

Harmony was such a special and beautiful woman. I absolutely adored everything about her. She was patient, understanding, loving, strong, and thoughtful. Tristan was lucky to have her back in his life in whatever capacity they were both willing to accept. I was pleased with how Harmony was able to shed the heartbreak from her past and grow into a new woman finally finding herself and rejuvenating her passion for life. It was also wonderful to witness Harmony and Tristan's new relationship develop allowing them to move on and let go of their shared past.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Readers Copy of this book.

I received this ARC from the Authors in exchange for an honest review

This is a first time co-author read for me from these two authors. Davies and Dickson wrote and amazing second chance romance about two people that loved each desperately but let society dictate where that love would lead them. Lucky for them fate had other plans for them and lead them back to each other. This was a very heart warming story that shows that love can stand the test of time.

Etching Our Way mainly focuses on Tristan and Harmony. They fell in love in college, but Tristan rips her heart out in order to protect her from his father's wrath. Harmony is from "the wrong side of tracks" and Tristan's fathers wants him to marry someone to benefit the family business. They both move on with their lives, but 6 years later when Harmony catches her husband cheating on her she comes back home to her mom. Eventually Tristan and Harmony's path crosses again and their love blossoms anew into something beautiful.

Davies and Dickson's writing creates an amazing love story that is very heart warming and touches us deeply. Izzy and Clayton are the cutest children in the world and we all feel for them. We are instantly drawn into the story from page one and want to know more about these characters. However, this is supposed to be a story about Tristan and Harmony getting back together right? Davies and Dickson spend most of the book focusing on Tristan's inability to process the death of his wife. He does elude many times to the fact that he was never able to get over his love for Harmony, but he seemed to move on with his life. The story takes place almost 6 years after the death of his wife, but he is still unable to process what has happened. This is addressed in an unrealistic manner by the authors in which the two characters have one conversation towards the end of the book and he magically is alright. What the heck? It seems in reality that although Tristan loved Harmony very dearly in the past, he loved his wife differently and more deeply than he ever did her.

I know this sounds very negative, but I did enjoy the book thoroughly. The writing was amazing and I loved all of the characters. I just feel like they missed the mark with the delivery.

What An Abusive Father

Wow the privileged, able bodied people are at it again.

Literally using every excuse in the book to let a man be as toxic as he can be, without making him feel the impact of his choices.

But Harmony isn't real.

She is for the Unseen, Unloved and utterly Unfucked amongst the privileged, to jealously seethe about how forgiving and loving they'd be compared to the women who end up psychophysiologically ill because of men like this.

But that's why the affluent come running with their trauma cards, ready to trauma dump on the people with ACTUAL long term trauma and not mere moments of a privileged life that they refuse to let go of.

He's not even present for anything in this book.

Even when he's there, he's with the pussy he left her for.

And remember, emotions are a choice.

He chose to bond with her best friend after choosing to bond with her.

But the toxic affluent people want to pretend that its not a choice, but the Unseen get starved of everthing and don't realise its a choice to bond.

This book is a Patriarchial Parable, one that seeks to have her long term, repeated instances of trauma and contrast it with his single trauma wound and his wins.

In the end she has to emotionally submit to his trauma wound.

Her trauma wounds are constantly apologised for, lest it hurt the kids, or Tris's ego.

Can't relate to the Able Bodied and the Conflicts they make for themselves.

But then, I've had to raise several kids due to premature deaths of a parent, while the other parent uses that death as an excuse to emotionally compete with the child.

Wow Tris is a Toxic Toddler Tyrant, making sure his kids share his grief.

Aboooser.

Green Pilled Patriarchial Parable of Toxicity.

What a Vulnerable Narcissist he is, constantly holding onto how he feels about a situation, getting to emotionally dominate and centre himself in every conflict.

Gawd I hate him.

And Natalie.

She's toxic too.

She chose to emotionally bond with someone already emotionally bonded to her friend.

Which means neither Tris nor Natalie understand what love is.

They think love leads people to make choices that exclude others from their lives.

This would have gotten five stars had they realised at the end that he and Natalie were not in love, but a toxic situationship.

But no, the cowardly white women need their hearts to grow.

They have no personality you see, they appropriate trauma and exploit it and feed on it so they can justify letting men be toxic, and saving them, causing them to be toxic again, over and over.

But not.

Because Natalie is now fertiliser, we have to believe the toxic choices were genuine.

Uhm, sorry neurotypical wet blankets, but the body is the organ of emotion.

He is toxic.

She was toxic.

And his trauma wound does not make him be toxic.

That's a lie that traumatisers tell themselves, that they traumatise because of their trauma.

But no, trauma causes internalised impulses, not externalised impulses that neglect and starve someone of their needs.

He's so awful.

When is Harmony's romance story?

Poor Harmony.

Poor kids.

Fucker needs buried.

The "I broke my own heart too" bullshit needs to die, he was dipping his dick inside her bestie.

Over and over again.

He dipped his dick inside Harmony's bestie, Natalia, over and over again.

That means he never loved Harmony in the past

So reading him pretend he was broken, but his dick still worked, when the body is the organ of emotion.

Awk, i love these neurotypical, patriarchial pick mes.

Believing a man can love and dip elsewhere.

Men really have your number.

I do not believe Tristan could ever love Harmony after choosing to dip his dick inside her best mate over and over again.

Her toxic best mate.

So glad Natalia died, such a closed up stunted bitch.

A cruel cunt.

Wish he died.

How children respond to trauma, is decided in their infancy.

Which means Natalia and Tristan neglected Clay holistically.

Its really gross listening to him tell himself that Natalia would have been a good mum when she couldn't even be a good friend.

Those kids have terribly abusive and toxic parents.

I dont care about their excuses and nuance.

They chose to hurt and we have to pretend they accidentally fell into each other genitals while he was looking Harmony up, the emotionally adulterous cunt.

"She was my best friend." Hate to see how you treat enemies mate.

Sheesh the cognitive dissonance it must take to enjoy that he dipped and dipped and dipped his dick in a terrible friends willingly toxic pussy.

One pair of hearts were irreparably crushed beyond repair.

Wow, I was completely hooked and heart-broken from the first line. In the prologue we see Tristan breaking up with Harmony, the love of his life and soul, because he was directed to by a man abusing his power, who would otherwise derail her life.

The plot behind this story has got to be one of the saddest cases of parental interference that I have read for quite a while. I don’t even know where to start in my review to give the story justice. How can I stress enough that I think this book is worth reading. Time is a precious commodity these days, and spending it with this book is well worth it.

One pair of hearts were irreparably crushed beyond repair. Then it’s 10 years later.

Harmony has been going through the motions of her marriage, but one day she decides to make a decision. She can no longer be put down, or publicly disrespected. Things have to change between them. Getting home, her husband’s sketchy behaviour hides what will finally make her bail. Lipstick on his collar, and an admission of guilt for more than one occasion.

This spurs her return to her mother’s house where she grounds herself and finally decides to reach for her ultimate goal – a teaching art studio for all abilities and ages, although the kids are her passion.

Tristan Carter followed the path his father forced upon him and the girl who became his wife. Then suffering a tragedy that no man and his children should have to, their second child was born leaving them all without a wife and a mother. He is nothing but the cold and clinical man he is now. His father is out of the picture, his mother is stepping up, and to boot , Harmony is back in town as the art teacher that the kids love seeing so much.

Broken hearts are still suffering painfully, even after 10 years and his first thought is to prevent his children from attending the class, but, his family call him out on his selfishness. Tristan and Harmony have to negotiate a way through the quagmire of emotions and love, him for his children, and Harmony, for the love of art that she’s so keen to teach them.

I can’t believe just how sweet this intense book was! The chemistry, and the sadness between Tristan and Harmony was off the charts, yet the hot action factor was next to nothing! There is so much unresolved emotion, guilt and loss that he has to work through, all because of the actions of a selfish and controlling man. And those effects forever altered the lives of Natalia and Harmony.

I just loved this book and thank the authors for making it available to The Quirky Blind Date with a Book readers group. It was amazing, and I highly recommend it. 4.5 Stars.

Etching Our Way by Danielle Dickson and Abigail Davies is a fantastic collaboration that needs to be shouted about. An engaging, complex, heart breaking story I couldn’t put this book down. Right from the prologue I knew I had to get the tissues ready.

“‘It’s not easy, it won’t ever be easy and I’m finally coming to terms with that.’”

Harmony Jameson has been to hell and back and has come out the other side. Now married to a person she loves with a job that has always been her dream, if she can just sort out her home life then all will be right with the world. But once again Harmony finds out the hard way that life isn’t always sunshine and rainbows. Life can be cruel and put you on unexpected paths.

“I did that to her. I made her feel like that.”

Tristan Carter is angry. At his dad for making his life so difficult. At his mum for the fact that she never stepped in to help until it were too late. At his best friend for trying to push him before he was ready. And at himself. At himself for not handling his wife’s death better. At himself for not knowing the best was to raise his kids. At himself because he knows he has the power to change it all if he can figure out how. And at himself for what he did to her.

“That’s when I realised that she was my passion; my everything.”

After taking back control of her life Harmony crosses paths with Tristan again when she least expects it. All the memories come flooding back making her question if she ever truly moved on from him and the heartbreak he had caused.

“‘I’m a girl from the wrong side of the tracks, I don’t fit into your life.’”

Angry and untrusting at first Tristan can’t believe that Harmony is back by coincidence. He refuses to believe that this could be just what he needs to get his life back on track and what he needs to make his family whole again.

“This is I for us, Harm. It was always meant to be us…… I love you with every single piece of my broken and battered heart.’”

They never expected to see each other again. Never expected that they would have such an impact on each other’s lives.
From the moment I started reading the prologue I knew this book would tear me apart before putting me back together piece by piece. It was worth every agonising second of it. I cried with these characters, I laughed with them, I despaired with them, I got angry with them and I fell in love with them. This is an absolute must read for every single person!

***ARC provided in exchange for an honest review - Naomi / Scandalous Book Blog***

Trying to write a review for this book is one of the hardest things I have had to do for a while. My words simply wouldn't do it justice.
EOW is written by 2 authors and you would never have guessed..the flow of this book is seamless. The words are very passionate and raw the characters are easy to connect with. I felt every emotion they had. I laughed and cried both at them and with them.

A love that felt so strong and right was ripped apart and left this couple heart broken. Both trying to move forward and going their separate ways.

Harmony left town and ended up marrying someone else. At the beginning everything was great and lately she has been feeling the gap between them. Wanting to have a talk and get their relationship back on track she is shocked and hurt to find out her husband is cheating on her. With divorce on her mind she moves back home to heal, living with her mum she soon has no reason not to follow her dream of opening her own Art studio.

Tristan never wanted to break up with Harmony, but with his fathers threats he had no choice. Marrying another woman to bring 2 families together for power was not his dream but it ended up being his life. Now him and his wife made the best out of a bad situation and they did love one another, going on to have 2 children together. Then Tragedy strikes and he finds himself a single parent and a widow.

When this couple lay eyes on each other its not all hearts and flowers. There is hurt, resentment and guilt...However their is still a spark and its one they both find very hard to ignore.

Before they can even think of a future together they have to overcome some serious issues.
Can they get a HEA?

Tristan want the easiest man to love and was very selfish sometimes...but I sympathized with him and understood him. Once he starts to open up and we get his whole story it was very hard not to fall in love with him.

Harmony was strong and very driven. Her feelings were easy to read and she was a light in the dark times, a complete breath of fresh air.

Have your tissues at the ready, as this is a very emotional read!

What an absolutely brilliant read this was! I have been swept away by this beautiful second-chance romance.

Young love between Tristan and Harmony, that wasn't meant to be.
Split apart at a young age, leaving broken hearts and shattered souls behind.... fast forward to years later and these two characters are back in each others lives.

I loved the characters, the single Dad of Tristan, and of course his AMAZING children, Clay and Izzie! I loved them, Izzie and Clay both stole a piece of my heart.

Harmony was brilliant. I loved her strength to walk away from Gerry, I loved her passion, her art, and her determination. I loved how she treated Clay and Izzie, and the special relationships that were formed.

So may emotions! I laughed and I cried, I swooned and I swore!! This book really does have it all...

That smile has my soul singing and a piece of my heart slowly slipping back into place.

Tristan needed to be a bit more honest and open I felt at times, but also I could understand his reasoning for not being more open with Harmony. I wanted to give him a kick up the bum!! But I could also feel the pain he has gone through over the years and why he had elements of reluctance.

I felt the last few chapters were a bit rushed compared to the pace of the rest of the book. I wanted more of the two of them together and more of Harmony integrating with Tristan, Clay and Izzie...

This is a second chance romance with all the feels ! A wonderful emotional roller-coaster which I would highly recommend!

I'm desperate to know more about Amelia... I'm guessing that's setting us up for the next book with her and Nate??? I can't wait to find out!!!

This is the first book I have read by either of these authors and it won't be the last! I thoroughly enjoyed this story and can't wait to see what they both bring us next.

**** 4.5 Willow Tree Stars ****
