RODIMUS, MEGATRON and the exiled crew of the Lost Light realise that there's only one thing they need to do before they can resume their quest. Unfortunately, that thing is "save the world." Can the AUTOBOTS overcome the odds and save the day? To be honest, probably not.
It's okay. The story is creeping forward. I don't care about Anode and Lug's backstory, but the Whirl / Cyclonus conversation is pretty cool. It's funny how good the artist can still do Whirl's facial expressions with him having only one eye and no face, but it definitely works!
The Megatron redemption story continues. *sigh* I really wish they would give it a rest, but it seems they are trying to beat this "Megatron is a good guy now" thing into the ground.
I was jarred a little bit by this comic's use of British English. I mean, it happens from time to time in all of James Roberts' stuff. But it's weird when you are reading Megatron and he says something about how he is going to "scupper their plans". It's an abrupt reminder that this isn't Frank Welker's voice you are imagining. It is a Megatron with a British accent.
Likewise, Rodimus says stuff like "het up" and "mate". The moral of the story? These aren't your traditional American bots. This group speaks the Queen's English. So all hail the queen! 'Till all are one.
Truly the most well hid gem in comics has been, for me, discovering the magic of Transformers comics. (Particularly the ones written by James Roberts). This is simply the most charming, heady, heart engaging, ball of intergalactic robot romance ever put to paper. A breath of fresh air after reading another issue of Doomsday Clock... give you an example of how good this comic is; Megatron reacting to someone supporting him was an emotional highlight for me. It's just this collection of oh so lovely (but tiny) moments... The humor for goodness sake is off the charts. The Cyclonus and Tailgate subplot is just this frosting over an already beautiful cake. It has legit turned me into someone who would consider fan fiction as a viable activity after this. If James Roberts could write a good arc for IDW's Godzilla, I'd be the happiest reader on these seven seas!
