Being Found: A Christian Woman's Guide to Marriage

Rate this book
Once upon a time, in a land far far away, there stood YOU… a Christian single woman looking for her knight in shining armor. Have you struggled with finding “the one”? Is there really such thing as a “soulmate”? For years, international marriage expert, Mark Gungor, has been asked by single women, “How do I find a husband?” After hearing this common question and many stories about dating, he decided to definitively answer the question. Society and culture tend to teach us that the Bible is against us choosing a spouse despite the fact that nowhere in the Bible does it say that God tells us specifically who to marry. Quite the contrary, God tells us that it is our choice to get married and whom to select. Take the story of Ruth and Boaz as an example. Ruth sought out Boaz, not the other way around. She practically threw herself at him and begged him to marry her. So many Christians use this and other biblical relationship stories out of context today. Here are some areas that will be covered in the   Is the desire for a man a blessing or curse? It’s about finding and being found Is character really that important? Can the girl make the first move? Will sex really make me stupid? Tick, tock, tick, is your time running out? Listen to your friends and family If you are you tired of being alone, this is your guide to finding a REAL man, one that is worth the searching. Get this practical guide and start on the Christian way to finding your husband today! Pick up your copy of the book by clicking the BUY NOW button at the top of the page.

I listen to Mark Gungor's podcast each week, and a lot of what is written in the book is shared there; however, there is so much wisdom in this super-quick read. He puts to rest a lot of un-biblical advice that is given to singles regarding finding a mate. I would encourage parents and those who work with young people to take a couple hours to read this.

I can't believe I read this.

The cover is so provocative, and if you have never heard the author speak before, you could assume you're in for a wild ride. If you listen to Mark Gungor's podcasts, a lot of this will be repetition. Good content, but awful cover.

I read this book before I handed it off to my 15, almost 16 year old daughter.

A few warnings: If your children are sheltered this is not the book to just hand them. He is very blunt!

I think some of his terminology is coarse!!!

Some of his ideas are not backed scripturally. This does not mean they aren't good but there is no scriptural basis for them.

Overall: I think it is a good book and tears down some Christian teaching that is not scripturally based and is actually very "modern" teaching and rebuilds different ideas with scripture.

I will be handing it to my daughter along with the counsel not to date until she is 18. Then she will be ready to marry.
