Jacob McIntyre sleeps the days away, while working nights as a Physician’s Assistant at the local hospital. Since his divorce, he’s been without emotion or purpose other than his work, until the night she’s brought in. With no identification, and no apparent medical reasons for her unconsciousness, he can’t deny the pull to her, even once she’s no longer under his care.
Nicknamed Snow White by the hospital staff, she longs to be awakened but no one can hear her. As he fights to find a cure, will his devotion to a woman he doesn’t even know awaken his own heart?
Find out if true love’s kiss really can stop the sleeping curse in Dream State.

Dream State is a quick read with a sweet story. It is very different to what I am used to reading from Amy, and its VERY good.
I will not give the story away, but this would be a great read while at the beach, picnic or somewhere casual. Its light and doesn't leave you burdened with harsh emotions.
Amy does a really good job bringing in cute tidbits in so keep your eyes peeled. I won't say much more.
I love Jacob and his persistence, and he reminded me to always introduce myself to my patients even if they aren't 100% conscious in medical terms.
I look forward to Amy's other takes on Fairy Tales -- great work!
I'm a huge sucker for retellings of fairy tales, so this was right up my street. I'm reading Briggs Brotherhood of District 23 series just now, but I can tell you this. Dream State is a bit of genre shift for Briggs and you can really tell that she is finding her feet in this new, softer romance. Dream State shows real promise and I am almost positive that this is the first step in a new avenue for Briggs.
This was a fun, quick and sweetly modern take on Snow White and the first in a new series of fairytale retellings. 'Snow White' is in a coma and her 'Prince Charming' is a young almost-doctor who is on duty when she is first brought in. He is immediately drawn to her and spends more time than he should by her bedside.
Amy Briggs takes us on a completely over the top love story that is totally adorable. Well done. 4 stars.
If you want a book that is sweet in the best ways possible then Dream State is it. This book is a quick read that will have you swooning and racing towards the end just to find out what happened. I love books like this because there are no expectations, just a simple and honest to god amazing story. This is the type of book you can sit down in one sitting and can binge through it and just feel completely sated.
The characters are wonderful and it is such a new concept to be able to see them together but not at the same time. This story is based off of Snow White, and my goodness does it make you feel like fairytales are real and that there is a prince charming out there for you too.
I recommend this book to anyone who just wants to read a pure romance, not all the sexiness, but the purest form of romance. How two people fall in love under the weirdest circumstances, how love can triumph all, how even when you think there is darkness, there is only light.
I met Amy at the Carolina Book Fair and bought Book 1 of her Brotherhood of District 23 series. I was hooked from page 1. I gobbled up the rest of that series in no time, plus everything else she's written. So, when I heard about her new series, Fairy Tales Reimagined, I was giddy!! I really enjoyed this modern twist on a classic tale. It's short and it's sweet and from the beginning you are rooting for them. Can he find the cure that will wake her? What is causing her slumber? Ever diligent, Jacob won't rest until he figures out what happened and who she is. I loved that we got to hear Jackie's inner thoughts even though she can't communicate them to Jacob. I'm a sucker for true love stories. I can't wait for the next one!
I floved this book. I love how Amy took a fairytale we all know and put a modern day twist on it. I loved the characters. I love how they could of met and fell in love a whole different way but for them they just may get their true fairytale ending. I was gripped from the very beginning and we all want a Jacob in our lives just hope we don't have to go about it the way Jacquline did. Can we now talk about how perfect this cover is for the book. It is so elegant.
I have to admit that I was initially attracted to Dream State by Amy Briggs due to its cover. It really is a very pretty cover. I thought the idea behind the book – a contemporary take on the Snow White fairytale – was clever and imaginative and, for the most part, there’s the basis for a good story here.
One of the issues I found with this work is that the writing sounded a bit stilted to me, including the dialogue. I don’t know if that was intentional, making it seem more otherworldly or it just needed a bit more massaging. The other problem is that there were plot holes in the story and, since it was pretty short, it definitely could have been strengthened by being longer and filling in those holes.
In any event, the last thing I will mention that stood out was at the beginning of the story, the hero introduces himself to a new colleague as Jacob Anderson. Later in the story, he’s talking to the unconscious woman and calls himself Jacob McIntyre and that’s how he’s referred to from then on. I can’t imagine why he would’ve lied to the first person, so this had to have been a change by the author that wasn’t caught in the editing stage.
If there were a longer version of this story, I wouldn't mind reading it.
When a classic fairy tale is reimagined, it needs to be done right and this version of Snow White is perfect! I’m actually not much of a fan of fairy tales; they always have a weak, damsel in distress who is just waiting for her prince to save her. Well, in this version, Snow White might be “asleep” but she’s internally awake and smart and sassy when the grumpy doctor comes to visit. It is an interesting dialogue because the prince, Jacob, holds conversations with the Jane Doe who came into his ER one night, seemingly unconscious. Jane Doe, who was nicknamed Snow White may seem unconscious but she can hear everything and responds to whomever is speaking to her, only they can’t hear her. In this version of Snow White, she saves the prince though. She saves him from a boring, workaholic, gym-aholic life.
This was a very short read that was fast paced and cute. I enjoyed the play off of the female characters name both in ER and her actual last name. The story developed quickly and had me wondering whether it was magic or something else affecting Snow White. Jacob was an interesting character and the premise of people hearing us when they're unconscious had me thinking of quite a few news stories! I wish the story was longer and more in depth because the characters were interesting (especially Ruth) and I wanted to learn more and I still wonder who sent the fruit basket!
Jacob is a physician's assistant that is just going through the motions of life after his divorce. That is until one night in the ER when Jacqueline comes in. All Jacqueline did was take a bite of an apple, next thing she knows she is in a hospital and can't talk or move. The only person that brings her some peace is Jacob. Jacob talks to her tells her what's happening to her and vows to help her wake up. Amy Briggs does a wonderful job of bringing Snow White into the modern times. Once you start you won't be able to put it down.
Once upon a time, I couldn't quite understand the sudden craze with rewriting fairy tales from a different angle. Then I got a copy of Dream State.
I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this novella. It was sweet, with so many 'aw' moments that I had to keep reading until 'Snow White', as the heroine was dubbed by hospital staff since she arrived at the ER as a Jane Doe, had dark hair, and fair skin, awoke from the unconscious state she was in.
Amy Briggs has certainly helped change my view on the retelling of fairy tales with a unique angle!
I enjoyed the writing and I'm a fan of fairy tale retellings. I thought this one was on the boring side and wasn't impressed. It's a modern, medical, Snow White fairy tale. Jackie is able to hear and feel everything, but can't move or speak. Jacob, a PA at the hopsital, has been tracking her progress and keeping her company even when he wasn't sure she could hear him. On his POV, the whole conversation is all one sided or in her head for her POV. Disappointing retelling.
I love retellings, but I wasn't a fan of this one. I am not sure if the spelling and grammar errors took me out of the story too much or what. The main problem is the insta love, i realize its a novella but it was too perfect. I loved the characters though, and I see the potential. I will check out her other books to try again.

A cute short story that is a modern day version of the fairy tale, Snow White. I really like this version better! I liked Jacob's persistence! I appreciated Ruth too! This book only took me little over a hour to read and I enjoyed it. Though not the same, it reminded me of a book I had read about Locked In Syndrome. Regardless, remember to talk to the patient. Most likely, they can hear you!
Loved this spin on Sleeping Beauty! Modern day fairy tales are one of my favorite stories and Amy delivers. You are completely invested in these characters right from the start. I couldn't read fast enough! Highly recommended!
First of all, I love Snow White so anything pertaining to the storyline I’m going to read. Amy Briggs has a way of pulling you deep into a story. Dream State was such a great story, yet short and sweet.
It was a cute and quick read, the only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars was the ending ended rather quickly, I would have loved more!! I definitely recommend reading and hope to see more fairy tales remained series in the future!
What a cute novella twist of the story of Snow White. In this modern day version she is a florist that has an allergic reaction to an apple. He is a physicians assistant and takes care of her in the ER but something about her, draws him in. Cute rendition.
This review will be short and sweet!!! So this is such a cute sweek story!!! This is actually my first book by Amy Briggs and I like the way she writes so I'm going to have to check out more books. Even though this was a quick read and really not one to base an authors reputation on it was definitely a fun read and like I said with the twist and her writing makes me want to learn more about her. I'm not giving any more away on the book because it is something you need to read yourself especially if you are a hopeless romantic. I would definitely recommend this book. It is a quick, fun, sweet and cute read. I am looking forward to the rest of this series and more books by Amy!!!!
What a great modern take on the oldie but goody Snow White! Amy Briggs has taken this fairytale and brought it into modern times, and did a great job doing it! Follow the story of Jane Doe (nicknamed Snow White by the hospital staff) and her modern day Prince Charming Jacob, the physicians assisstant assigned to her case when she's brought in to the hospital, to see if true loves kiss can wake her! This is a new genre for author Amy Briggs and I have to say I'm impressed with the transition from her previous series to this new one! Looking forward to more from her in this new story line!

Dream State By Amy Briggs is a readaptation of Snow White and is the first in her Fairy Tales Reimagined Series.
I was instantly hooked with this one and read it super quick! The plot was fantastically addicting! You had to know what happened and what was going to happen next. How will it turn out? Will it be good or bad? It was the constant wondering that hooked you and kept you hooked!
Short stories can be tough because sometimes it feels like things are jumpy and you lose pieces of the story, but Briggs delivered this story smoothly and with a unique elequentness. (I'm pretty sure I just made that word up, but it's perfect! haha!) This was my first Amy Briggs book, but will be far from my last! I look forward to the rest of this series!
This was a wonderful spin on Snow White! I loved that Jackie had a voice throughout the book, that you knew what she was feeling even though she couldn't let Jacob know with words, she let him know with how he body reacted to him being with her. I can't wait to see what Amy comes up with next!!!
