Cass and the Bubble Street Gang - The Clubhouse Mystery

Rate this book
Cass and her best friends, Lex and Nicholas, are the Bubble Street Gang! They investigate crimes, solve mysteries and have brilliant adventures. They've even got their own secret clubhouse. After the annoying baby twins demolish the fort Cass has built in the sitting room, she has the great idea of building a proper fort - outdoors - that can be the Bubble Street Gang's clubhouse. Lex's granny suggests the perfect spot at the back of Mr McCall's field and Cass and the gang get to work. The gang settle in quickly and begin planning their next adventure, when they realise someone is using the clubhouse when they're not there. Stuff moves around, cookie crumbs are left behind and the door is left open. Join Cass and the Bubble Street Gang as they investigate The Clubhouse Mystery.

This is a fun story filled with generous grannies, truth bending, and friendship (as well as the opposite of friends) Cass and her friends have a bucket load of imagination, sometimes a bit too much. I smiled a lot over the building of the clubhouse, by the awesomeness of Lex's grandmother, by how trying school life is for them and the lesson they learn from finding some treasure. I enjoyed the safety driven concerns from Nic which Cass tried not to hear, but they don't stop him from having fun, his own acting hang ups do that for him.

The trio nearly break the law in trying to find their clubhouse intruder, but common sense prevails and they go for a less illegal plan which had me surprised by the intruders' identity and the consequences of them being caught. It's a feel good read full of nostalgia of my own childhood clubhouse (a rickety shack in my garden) where I played cards (not poker!) with my family.

I received a copy of the book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review on my blog Nayu's Reading Corner http://nayusreadingcorner.blogspot.co...
