Fiona Skye is a fantasy author, currently living in the deserts of Southern Arizona. She shares a home with her husband, three kids, three cats, and a Border Collie.

Fiona’s passion for storytelling began early in life. As a child, she loved playing make-believe and inventing elaborate fantasy worlds to explore. At age twelve, she wrote her first short story, which was based on a song by a 1980s hair band. Since then, she has dedicated her life to story craft, only to be occasionally distracted by the dogged pursuit of the perfect plate of cheese enchiladas.

She counts Diana Gabaldon and Jim Butcher as her favorite authors and biggest influences. Joining these two on the list of people she would wait in queue for a week to have a coffee with are Neil Peart, Kevin Hearne, and Brandon Sanderson.

I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars!!!!
I love this genre. Ghost hunting, Angles and Demons, right up my alley!!!
This is the first Fiona Skye book that I have read and I was not disappointed. I just could not stop reading, the only thing about starting a new series that I really hate is that I now have to wait for the next installment to be written. I loved all the characters as well as Fiona's writing style.
I wonder what is going to happen next, Fiona it seems that you are now one of my favourite writers and that after just reading one book. Please hurry in writing the next one, I can't wait!!!!
If you are into some fantasy and reading about the Supernatural then why are you waiting, start reading you won't be disappointed.
Thank you to TBC for the chance to discover Fiona Skye.

I received this book for an honest review from TBC.
I picked this up as I'm a fan of strange, this book is full of that.
Our 2 main characters are ghost hunters and cleanse places. They meet during a haunting and our main character finds out she's not like others more than she realises.
I don't want to give spoilers only to say I read this in the space of a day it was that intriguing and I'm anxiously awaiting the next book!!

3.5 stars

I really enjoyed the book, the characters, the settings and the tension and suspense that the author created and the fabulous concept of the story. The delivery was good except that for me there was a little bit too much 'filling' (other jobs and the travelling between places became a little too much and my attention wandered) - having said that I would happily read the next in the series.

Didn't want to put this one down, and when forced to, I couldn't wait to get back to it.

Jerrilyn is foundling raised at a Catholic orphanage and thrown out by the nuns as a teenager for talking to the dead. Not that Jerrilyn can help it when they're standing there in front of her. Now at around 30, she makes her living getting rid of spooks and spectres, building up quite a reputation for herself. When she meets Travis, she learns that there are worse things than the things that go bump in the night. Then there's this annoying voice that won't leave her alone, strange men chasing her for no apparent reason, and the face that keeps appearing in the mirror....

The narrative flows expertly at a fair pace, moving from one investigation to another and back again. The characters are all well-rounded and believable. There is a refreshing lack of stereotypes - no angsty moody goth teens; no sombre, mystic Native American shamans. The action moves from scene to scene, and seeing Jerrilyn working different jobs gives a good idea of the variety involved in what she does. There is no 'one size fits all' haunting and exorcism. And while there is a lot of religious talk going on, there's no proselytising or preaching - it's simply the way the characters behave.

(spot the mention of two gorgeous brothers who hunt things and save people - it gave me a giggle!)

I'm looking forward to more in the series. The Christian mythology and Enochian angelology is used to great effect but with a light touch. It's not heavy going at all, but there is a lot going on. There are many strands to this story, and they are woven together very well.

This is the first book I have read by Fiona Skye.

I found the cover quite creepy and had no idea of what to expect from this book. Jerrilyn is a ghostbuster. But nothing like the film!

I thought this was a good start to a new series, and will be looking out for the next book in the series. 4*

Child of Clay is the first in this supernatural series, ( I hope ) it introduces us to Jerrilyn, who as a child in an orphanage could see and talk to ghosts, her treatment at the hands of the nuns who believed her to be 'devil spawn' is imprinted in her mind, as a teenager she uses her gift to help ghosts pass over to the afterlife, she is known as ' sensitive '. As an adult in her early thirties she is asked to help a family in Santa Fe ,New Mexico, this haunting turns out to be one of the hardest cases she has followed, she meets Travis another hunter, only demons are his forte, they join forces and she is introduced to the darker and much sinister side of 'good versus evil '. I absolutely loved Child of Clay, the fight between Angels and Demons, the story going back to the begining of time, the imagination and attention to detail by the author just kept me enthralled, there is so much scope for this series, and I do believe ( though I could be wrong ) there is a reference to Sam and Dean ' the hot brothers ' from TV's Supernatural, which I love. I am really looking forward to how this series progresses, and hope the wait isn't to long!..

Book Review of Clay

Supernatural thriller
If you like ghosts and scares - then this book is definitely for you.
I loved the build up within the atmosphere and the increasing background to the spooks gave the setting a whole new depth.
Sometimes, the travelling between places became a bit too much and I caught myself skipping a few pages.
This book would suit any reader who is ready to awaken their senses to the world beyond ours.
I would rate this book 3 out of 5 stars.

Hungry?

I really enjoyed this book though I sometimes thought I was reading a restaurant review! The description of every meal was a bit annoying and took away from the thrills in the story. I would love to read the follow-up though, just less of the ingredients please, I'm on a diet!

Oh my goodness, where do I start. I loved it. And I need more.

This is the perfect book for lovers of supernatural, with gripping scenes, angels, demons and ghost and a couple of ghost/demon hunters with just the right amount of attraction to keep them going but not overtake the story.

Both main characters are very likable and most readers will be able to associate with them. Jerrilyn is a strong individual, roaming the United States, helping lost souls to cross over. What she doesn’t realise until she meets Travis, is that there is much more to her gift that she ever expected.

Travis opens a whole new world for Jerri, world that frightens her (well demons are scary), but at the same time invites her to finally find out more about her own roots and what really is the reason that she was put on this earth.

Fabulous book – I cannot praise it enough and I hope that the second installment isn’t going to take too long.

Thank you to the author and TBConFB for access to this book in return for this honest review.

What a brilliant, atmospheric and creepy book with fab characters.
This Author is really gifted, the descriptions set the scene perfectly and the storyline is creepy and riveting, leaving me wanting more.
Very easy to read, with the main heroine, Jerrilyn, been likeable and interesting along with her various relationships, which work very well and spice things up a bit, not that this tale of ghosts, demons, exorcism and abject terror needs spicing up.
Can't wait to read the next instalment.

Excellent start to a great series. Riveting reading! A well-woven, engaging tale with interestingly flawed characters you easily come to love. A knockout first book - cannot wait to read more of Jerri's story!

Had me guessing all the way

Jerri is a sensitive, meaning she can see ghosts. She uses her ability to aid the departed in letting go of the mortal plane and passing on. When things become too much for her, she begins hearing an inner voice, which saves her life on more than one occasion. I was as stunned as she was by the things she learned, and I can't wait until the next book to discover what it all means.

Ending was a bit abrupt

I loved this book,,wasn't sure I was going to ,I figured it would have too many religious overtones but I was wrong.
I couldn't put it down,it had me gripped from the get go,even though there were undercurrents of a blossoming romance with the key characters ,,not that it messed with the story,,it tied in nicely with I
Now,the end was very abrupt and really pissed me off ,,only to find that this is book one,,yeah!!!
So is book two out now?Being written as I type?
I can't seem to find it,,any clues people??
Ok so maybe it's not on Amazon just yet,,I'm annoyed because I was so absorbed in the story and need to find out what happen grrrr.... So frustrating
