I really wanted to like this book but it was just OK. I've heard about it for years since the author included an interview with my grandfather, Tate, and a great picture. But the prose was lame. I would read a passage and think to myself, "What did I just read?" The language was too flowery and longwinded. Beck made a logical procession starting from the mouth of the Mullica River (where my grandparents lived) up to the headwaters. It was fun to read about familiar places.
